The fact Mike knows the exact date of when he took his first bribe just says a lot about his character. It suggests that he's spent a lot of sleepless nights thinking about that day, wrestling with his morality, questioning his integrity and generally reflecting the choice he made and all the consequences that followed through after that. This was set in 2004, Mike says he would like to go forward 5 years or so to check in on his family. He dies in 2009.

Well anyone who is mindlessly chasing money and think more money would change something are chasing status and power or in other words: love and respect... they are just oblivious to their actual wants and needs. All Jimmy ever wanted was love and respect from Chuck who symbolized society to him. That is all people ever want. Love and respect and you get that by learning to love yourself and learning to respect yourself.. validating and accepting yourself for whole of you, then you don't need anything external to love your and respect you

Very glad that we got to see more of the Mike-Jimmy relationship in the Finale. The way that Mike reminisces on his past failure with Matty and him becoming a dirty cop just hit hard even he didn't say much. Maybe especially because he didn't say much. He wants to be good but he struggles on how he would even do that at this point. Incredibly poignant acting by Jonathan Banks. I also love his reaction to Jimmy's answer to invest with his time machine to become a billionaire. Money was only ever just a means to an end for Mike, in massive contrast to Jimmy at this particular moment after the ending of Season 4 (who at this point is fully becoming Saul Goodman and already practicing as him) for whom money *is* the end for anyone looking at him from outside and isn't aware of the baggage he carries. Mike isn't aware of what he actually wants (to reconnect with Chuck, which we come to learn was the impetus for this time machine question) but instead only sees what the Saul Goodman persona "wants" from outside. Beautiful contrast between the two. I'm sorely going to miss this show ;(

You see this emotional immaturity in Jimmy in these first two flashbacks with Mike and Walt, but there's also growth in very, very slowly pulling back the layers of his character. In this scene, Jimmy talks about money, because he's not ready to deal with reality. In the Walt scene, he talks about a con gone wrong. Not regret for the con itself, but for it going wrong. It's still incredibly shallow, but it's probably the most progress he's made in the last 4 or 5 years from that moment in the desert to the one in the basement, of actually sitting down and opening himself up. How sad is that? But while these scenes seem to reveal the true nature of Jimmy, or Saul, I think it's more like they reveal how emotionally stunted he's become after Chuck's death, not to mention, how much of an impact Chuck's last words to Jimmy have had on him. It's no coinciendece that their very last interaction together is him trying to have a heart to heart with his brother, and talk about REGRETS, but what does Chuck say? Don't bother. Don't bother having regrets, because you will not change. So in these moments with Walt and Mike, he's clearly still taking those words to heart. But then finally, we get the Chuck scene. The true moment he would go back to, and the moment he regrets not staying in, to have that heart to heart with his brother before it all eventually became too little too late. And I think it's that scene that reveals Jimmy's true nature: someone who is there for his older brother, even when he doesn't have to be, even if he has struggles expressing himself it's his actions that speak here. Bringing his brother groceries in the middle of the night to make sure he has what he needs. Taking care of family. That's Jimmy McGill.

Mike's final 3 scenes are all perfect. Just when you think his last has been shown, you are blessed with another. -End of BCS era: Mike, symbolically depicted behind a cage, expresses sympathy towards a man who lost his son, parallel to his own predicament at the beginning of his story, but is shot down when the man can justifiably accept what has happened, and (unwittingly) berates Mike for becoming a part of the same evil that allowed it to happen. -BB era: Mike now in full form once again, with the sunglasses we very first saw him in, walking into the Saul Goodman office and warning Jimmy about the impending concern of Walter White. -And now a special scene unseen from the iconic 'Bagman' episode: Mike would go back and change it all. The life of crime, putting up and shutting up to save face within his precinct. Putting the people he cared about first. Maybe even trying to live up to the person his son thought he was...

I like how Mikes first trip back in time was before his son was killed, and he thought if he was there before or the night it happened, he could have stopped it. but then he realizes that he has to go farther back to his first bribe, and not accept it. and that is the ultimate way mike could time travel and save his son, by just saying no to it.

Interesting how it takes certain situations like this a fully survival mode or specific people, good people respectfull people often harmless people being brave or vulnerable trying to do the right thing or having a good heart to make Mike open up. Actually have a conversation with the real Mike.

Fun fact: At 0:11, the shot of Jimmy's upturned car is the exact same shot of when Lalo jumps on Jimmy's car in S5: E:9. They've just painted-out Lalo and changed the colour-grade. Or Lalo was composted into the car shot in the first place. I remember reading that they restaged the flipped-car though for a scene that they then cut from the episode? In any case, this is a fantastic cold open and a poignant one to end on.

I can see going back to save his son. I don’t think Jimmy caught on. Personally, If I could go back and change anything I probably would try and get my dad to not go to work the day he died. I would have told him call in sick and took him to Sherries restaurant. Have a conversation with him. Maybe he’d still be here. I miss you dad.

$1,000,000 invested in Berkshire Hathaway would have resulted in about $36 billion for Jimmy McGill ... When Warren B took over it, it was selling for $12.47 a share..today it is at about $457,000 a share $1,000,000 ÷ 12.47 = 80,192 shares 80,192 shares × $457,000 per share For the common working man, it's $3.66 MILLION for every $100 invested.

@@HeatyFrog , he didn't have many. He mentioned in BCS that his father left a tragedy of a life full of bills that couldn't be paid by his family. Plus, even with Matty working, their family was still struggling. If you think poverty doesn't play a huge role on which jobs you can get, then shit, man, you need to learn more about social sciences. Plus, you've got to remember that mike was born around 1940, which would make his family one of the few unlucky white families who got f-ed by the multiple world conflicts those generations had to deal with such as great depressions and both world wars (and I'm mentioning white, because you can't compare it to the shit poc were forced to survive). Plus, either his dad was a socialist around 1925-1930 or his family moved to the US around the time the Great War happened.

Genuine or not, it once again seems to show that Mike did care for Jimmy a little bit, enough to be amused by his jokes. Makes it even sadder to see how he got increasingly disappointed seeing Jimmys continued downward spiral, to the point where he shows him no respect when he's Saul full-time.

And the contrast between these 2, mike regrets doing it for money but Saul its a good thing cuz at this point nothing even matters to him other than money.
