This review really spoke to me personally because of the work I do and the setup I need. I too have stuck to a laptop and additional 21” monitor. This weekend I decided I really needed an ultra wide because I need 2 to 3 “screens” open side-by-side. I have researched so many monitors and read so many articles and while my options began to properly narrow, I still remained undecided until this review. Thanks for posting!
Thought about buying this monitor for a longer time now and now it is on sale (and available) here in germany. Your video helped me with my decision, thanks for that :)
Did you try PBP (picture by picture) with MacBook pro? PBP allows you to split one screen into 2 virtual monitors so that if you have to share your screen during video call you can share just a part of it. Also you should talk about the built in USB C hub in this monitor with Ethernet port
Wooo great video ! thanks for this :) You said in the video the "LG 35WN75C-B" that have a VA screen, but what do you think about the "LG 34WN80C-B" that have a IPS screen ? Between this last one LG vs the DELL in your video ? Thank you ! :)
NIce review Shu! I have a question. Do you experience any problems connecting macbook pro through usb-c cable? like other peripheral not being recognized and required reconnection of the cable? Also what's your experience on Dell Software of windows management? Cheers
Hi, nice review. But, what about the sharpness on the ultra wide screen?? I mean, Are the system fonts sharp enough to work with them avoiding the blurry experience you have when you use a FULL HD monitor connected to a MacBook?
are you still satisfied with the screen ? I am looking for one my screen for my second music studio and I found this Dell (I would like it to be non curved)
congrats for buying a beautiful monitor 😊 . I have bought one yesterday too but because I want also play PS4 on it I got 32" 16:9. Shu may I ask you are you still using Roam Research as the main daily note/journaling app? Thank you for great vids about Roam and everything 😊
there is a free alternative to roam research that is really good called Logseq: logseq.com/ When you go to the site you are already using it and you just have to grant permission for the site to access a folder of your choice to save your notes. Anywhere on your local drive and desktop is fine. Athens Research: github.com/athensresearch/athens Athens Research is a download where the app is not in the browser like Logseq but it is an app on your desktop where you save to your desktop Both of these came about because so many of us want a free, open source, and private alternative to Roam Research. Oh you might also like Obsidian: obsidian.md/ And they are all free with better graphs ENJOY :)
Thank you for this nice review. I like you bought this to have only one cable between the Mac and the monitor. But this means you can’t use the monitor USB hub to connect external disks, because you have to choose «High resolution» over «High data transfer» in o rder to get 3440x1440 resolution. So I end up still needing a USB hub connected to my Mac. Were you able to solve this in any way?
Has this monitor auto brightness control? If not…is the brightness control easy to manage with a direct button? I hate to adjust the brightness many times a day…getting into the menu…etc... I know benq has that option..but they don't have an ultrawide IPS monitor.
Thank you for this video! Is installing the Dell Display Manager utility on both devices the only way to use the KVM function of the U3421WE monitor? I may not have admin permissions on my work laptop to install software. What happens if the software is installed on only 1 of the 2 devices?
Did you notice any "yellowing" at the bottom of the screen when you have a white background up? I got the monitor not too long ago and the bottom 3/4 have a light yellow tint when against a white background. I am trying to figure it if it's a defect or all their pieces have it
Any suggestions for places (either in store or online) to look for such equipments (computer peripherals, audio-video gear, etc.) in Japan? I recently moved here from Canada and prices are somewhat higher here by 25-40%.
Hey Will :) That's awesome you moved here! Hope you're settling okay. I usually look at Rakuten or Amazon but things are pricier here. So I just go for second hand ones in Mercari or eBay.
hi, please, could someone tell length of the back (curved) side of the base? I don;t mean the monitor width with base which is from back to front but the length from left to right, which is larger at the back. Thanks in advance
I have this monitor. My 2019 MBP can run everything flawlessly. However my 2015 MBP cannot run this monitor--the mouse has a tiny tiny bit of lag, which sucks.
@scott Peterson does this monitor has no problem like u3419w connecting to MBP 2019 model? www.dell.com/community/Monitors/U3419W-MacBook-USB-Type-C-sleep-wake-issues/td-p/7342413
@@ScottPeterson4 What do you think about the finish glossy and the pixel aspect ratio? Is comfortable to your eyes? Because all people want matte finish monitors
@@gabrielspalletta it looks great to me but I wouldn’t take my word for it. I’m totally fine with a sub-4K monitor but many people aren’t these days. :-)
Hi. I have a Huawei matebook x pro 2020 with nVidia mx250. Will it be able to drive this monitor via usb-c? I cannot find answers online in either dell or Huawei. Someone wrote that in this resolution works at 30hz. Anyone tried it? I am just talking for office/youtube etc not gaming. Thanks
