Hi Brian, Great video as your usual. I would hope that you do a follow up video about the reliability of the air bag system. My ‘90’s class A came with an air bag system. I think it was Firestone. The bags failed after about 7 years and maybe 15,000 miles. I suspect the rubber material failed from road exposure stress. Hopefully the current material is far superior. A future video would be very insightful about longevity. Thanks....

Brian, I have a 32' Winnebago outlook with the same air bags on it. With a full load of water and gas I keep the bags at approx 50lbs on it. Doesn't have the automatic air pump on it, just manual fill. Really takes the load off and has a very nice ride. You did a really nice job on the installation and I took advantage of the discount on the recliners from RecPro. Thanks, I'll be watching you. Earl

Brian , another fantastic install video. I have had my Air Lift , load lifter system for several years and love the system , i too love the onboard compressor. I remember my DIY install and my memory is it was challenging but you make it look simple, very organized and intelligent install. Air Lift is a great company. Great work as always . I Enjoy your channel. I last messaged you about a Solar install , And I still have not had the guts to install roof mount solar panels because penetrating the rubber roof scares me.

Our Sunseeker 2290S class C came with the Firestone air bags standard. When we took it home the dealer had not inflated them and the ride was very rough and "tippy". Once I pumped them up the ride became a dream! I run them between 50 and 75 psi depending on the load. After that bumpy ride home I can not imagine not having air bags.

The nice thing is how airbags not only smooth out the harshness of the bumps, but help with the side to side sway as well. Airtabs also help control the sway created when a semi or crosswind creates this. I swear by airtabs, as they make an incredible difference on high profile vehicles. There are cheaper clones of the airtabs out there, but airtabs still work the best.

Liked the video and “don’t get me wrong you did a great job” but I would like to add a little info for anyone that lives in northern climates like we do (Northern Minnesota) I added a set of these 4 years ago on my 30’ E450 and year 1 worked great, year 2 the air compressor started popping fuses! So a very long story short, it was corrosion from the extreme weather, humidity/temp changes road grime etc! so I removed the air compressor, cleaned it up, added a few drops of oil in each airline and relocated it into the top of a basement compartment and its been great ever since… Just some friendly info for anyone doing a fresh install, you may want to save yourself a headache later and mount it in the basement from the start… Thanks for the video! Its always great for people to see what their getting into before they do it…

Just and update to say that I was able to level the RV for an overnighter using just the air bags and remote (no wedges required). I was pretty happy with that.

Great video!!, I have been contemplating these. Question, and I'm sure this is a "your mileage may vary" type question, but how much "lift" can you get from FULLY deflated to 100%? I too have a 32' class c, that really sits low in the back. I have a hump in my driveway as I exit/enter that bottoms out the center of my wheel span (Generator exhaust hangs lowest point) that I use heavy ramps to pull in/out of driveway. I would like to be able to inflate to max, pull in/out, then adjust for ride. Have you considered Fronts too?

@@davidlawlor1583 Don't expect a huge lift. When full (on flat surface) it might go up an inch or two. That might be all you need though.

Thanks Brian. Looking to do the same thing to my Class C. Actually, I am planing on new shocks, swaybars, trackbar, and Sumo Spings up front. Was going to do the Sumo Spings in the rear instead of the airbags but decided that This was the better way to go. It allows me to adjust the springs which, in turn, adjust the ride. I can also tailer it for when I have a trailer or toad not eh rear as well. Ours is about the same length and a similar slide setup which makes her a heavy girl. It's a shame but these from the factory just are not really setup great, at least the newer ones, for the constant heavier loads which is why I am upgrading mine. Enjoy all your projects and I need to ask you about solar at some point as I need some advice from an RV'er that understands setting it up. Anyway, keep it up and thanks agains for sharing.

I installed a set on my F-250 FX4 to reduce the sag. They seemed to help but I lost my comfy ride. I manually pump up mine until I can get the time to install the compressor. Thanks for sharing! Steve

Thanks. I like this sort of improvement content. Funny my RV is parked on gravel road base too so I save my back with plywood or cardboard. I may add a kit to my E250 extended frame motovan. I added the air lift bags to the inside of front coil springs and they really improve the front end performance on the e250.

Hi Brian. I have an old transit with a dunlop air support. I needed to reallocate the handbrake adjuster because the baggs lift the springs and the adjuster 'thinks' the van is empty, wich isn't of course. Great pumpsystem. Thanks for sharing.

Great video Brian! I put airlift 7500 bags on my 3500HD and it made a world of difference while towing our fifth wheel. Keep an eye on your heat shield, mine rusted out at the tabs after about a year or so. Also keep an eye on the electrical plug going into the compressor computer, I had one get water in the plug area and it fried the computer, the plug is not very water tight.

Hey James. I'm glad we had a few days last week that it wasn't raining :) I'll keep an eye on those things. I have some left over exhaust wrap that I thought of using instead of the heat shield. Who knows, I may do that. BTW I did see in the instructions that they recommend keeping a drip loop in wiring harness before the plug.

Do the mod when it is warm or run the engine briefly and the exhaust pipe will become a heater. Install a car lift at your home for the future modifications you will surely make. Buy a new RV that has auto leveling suspension. 🤪

Great Job Brian, I noticed you used the Multi tool on the long bolts, great application, maybe you could trim the bolts on your diesel heater exhaust too before they bite you... You made that install look too easy. I'm working on installing a Center Point Air Suspension from Trail Air on my triple axle Keystone Raptor right now. Getting ready to run the Air lines on Monday. I'll use the cutting block for making sure I get square cuts too. Thanks again!

Having the ability to adjust the airbags from the cab is crucial. You can adapt the ride feel as needed and adjust for certain load outs. I once had to drive few hours with all of my tanks full and the airbags made the vehicle handle a lot better. Yes I said all my tanks, fresh(because I could fill it), and grey and black because we were in a driveway for a few days.

Awesome job as always. I like the fact that every time you do something to your rv... its not some flashy thing... but a well thought out adult useful thing, whether its sway bars or ride control. In my experience ride height is something you ignore until screeeeech... There is a deep gash in asphalt in Tampa, Fl and Salem, SC. Dont ask me how i know... these gas stations with their weird sloped entrances man...

Just a thought….I find that when crimping a butt connector (or other type), instead of using two hands to fit the wire into the connector, then having to pick up the crimper tool, which could allow the two ends to separate a little and give a poor connection……..I always first insert the butt connector into the crimp tool, then simply use that tool to mate the butt connector and the wire(s), then squeeze the crimper. Much faster, and you can more easily see that the crimp is solid. Just saying…… thanks!

I bought this kit and I’ve installed the air compressor that I have not installed the bags yet. I have installed the front air lift 1000 bags on the front. Installed new front and rear hellwig sway bars. Also Roadmaster steering stabilizers, Plus Bilstein front shocks.

Great content as usual Brian. We have the Firestone brand on our 32' Sunseeker 3170DS but only manual air Schrader valves. The system you are using is a bit too pricey for me. I plan to buy two cheap 12v air compressors. Then mount them with a gauge, a switch, air valve on each side in a storage area. THen when needed just flip the switch to add air or open the valve to let some air out.

Well done friend! Pretty sure I will tackle this project on my work truck. It rode so dang ruff. Please let me know if this softened your ride. My 2010 E450 absolutely is an excruciating experience driving around San Antonio, aka Pot Hole City. I just installed monroe-matic RV shocks today and noticed that every single joint in the rear suspension is close to metal vs metal. The hard rubber suspension parts are so hard I'm convinced they are useless. Of course yours is in better shape, so I am going to listen to your response. Thanks again for this post

Check out the use of ping tanks. I installed the same bags on my Jayco 29MV but between the air inlet and the bag I installed 2, 2 gallon air tanks(1 tank per bag). It changes the “spring rate” of the bag thus creating a poor mans volumetric air bag.

As a thought..I've heard of people using air bags for adjustment well driving roads that are Crownd high in center...like if driving some roads in the Adirondacks in Upper New York.. Just a thought..but of course one would want to us there own judgment ..if I'd be for them.. One could have the co pilot do on road adjustments as driver / drives ..lol ( Not fore everybody ..) Some controls clip into a on dash mount ..to help w hands free ..along w ..alway know where it is when needed plus ..operator can glance @ control screen when @ a safe location..( red light ) .. Hey just FYI... check out WeldTech Designs, El Cajon, Calif... they have a RU-vid channel and recommends against airbags and explains why and what should be done from the factory but isn't... great advice and food for thought 💭

Oh. I'm well aware of Jeremy's channel. Cool stuff. I may go for that Baja grocery lift at some point. For now I like the adjustability of this setup. It's Working good.

I have Firestone Ride Rites on both my F350 truck I pull a toy hauler with and a class-C motor-home. I noticed on the class-c the leaf's were inverted from over weight from the factory, AND according to the E450 factory specs. On both I did simple air valves I check prior to leaving for a trip, but having a on-board compressor would be nice. I was thinking about looking next into coil-over rear springs on the MH since I pull a trailer. Good videos, especially adding the wrench size for people tired of making multiple trips to the roller cabinet from underneath. BTW- on my Class-C it's a 2011 Winnebago Cambria more like a B+, I added 4" lift and 4 wheel drive conversion w/manual locking hubs, front leafs and straight axle from Ford. The rear air bags allow me to level the rig perfect depending on load. Thanks

@@RVwithTito It's 30' intended for driving over mountain passes in the winter to the Utah desert where we spend as many cold days as possible. Next up for us is 'lion' batteries and get rid of the lead acid.

Loved your video on the crv! Make sure you do the transmission and differential oil change. And do a fuel injector flush! With petrol treatment. As for your camper. Make sure when travelling keep all the weight in your camper at the FRONT of your caravan to prevent fish tailing when driving on the road DO NOT CENTRE THE WEIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR CAMPER. SEARCH ON YOU TUBE HOW TO prevent fish tailing trailers while driving.

Just in case you have a change in attacking this situation, there's a company in San Diego that specializes in 4wd and off road stuff that I used for a front end lift on my 2wd van. Lately, they've been doing a lot of upgrading of class C RV suspensions with new spring kits instead of air bags. Just a thought.

All I have to say excellent video the sound the image the position of the camera all it’s perfect , question for you that bag is reading at 5000 pounds that’s mean 2500 for each side and you probably have more than 5000 pounds and that’s my case in my car you don’t think that can be a problem. I will have to do that in my car it’s E 350 plumbing body with almost 10.000 pounds.and my rear it’s sagging and doesn’t look good at all, and also not drive very well

Great install video! my only question is about how many inches can it raise the rear? getting to my house I have a steep hill and the back is scrapping a bit I'm wondering if this can solve my scrapping problem? any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Ive seen 2 or maybe 3 inches depending on the weight of your coach and how full you keep the bags.

Got air bags on my Winne lovem. But did you check the load rating on your rear Tires. Mine was shipped in 05 with tires not rated for the weight of the GVW at max load ? Most C`s are sent out that way.

Beautiful installation & video!! Is there a harsh ride tradeoff with higher airbag pressure? Or do the bilstein shocks compensate?

They say there is a harsh ride tradeoff at higher PSI (makes sense) but I dont know yet since I just got them installed. I'll have to find the sweet spot.

Good video! The only thing I would have done differently is to put the in-line nearer to where your power distribution panel is located thus facilitating changing or resetting (instead of having to crawl under the vehicle) if it blows which will only happen on a dark cold/muddy night in the middle of no where. Also, if the is is a fuse versus a circuit breaker, make sure you carry spares for the same reason.

I almost didn't put the fuse in since it's already fused at the DC panel. The reason I did was because that circuit is going to be shared with other 12V stuff powered under the coach.

@@RVwithTito yes, this is kind of what I figured. Also, as I recall, you said you wired this unit into 30 amp circuit while the fuse provided with it was only 15 amp so I think it was wise to protect the compressor with separate (and lower) fuse/breaker to protect at the level specified by the manufacturer.

Yes they do have front bags. They are a bit different though. I'm not sure if I'll need those, but time will tell.

Brian, any update on this in real world use? Would love to hear about it. I've been wanting to do this on my Sprinter chassis class A (Winnebago Via) but last I checked, AirLift didn't have a kit for our Sprinter 3500 chassis.

There's also a bluetooth app for your phone you can also use and it will allow firmware updates for your compressor....

Yeah. I haven't loaded up the app yet, but I will. I spoke to a tech at Air Lift who said I should be good on firmware upgrades for now.

By coincidence, I just ordered the exact same setup last night. As usual your video did a great job of laying it all out. Question though: Can you explain how you installed the auxiliary shrader valves? I'm debating where I want to add those. From your video, it was a bit hard to tell what you did on those.

Just cut the air line on each side and insert the T connector. What I did to mount them inside the storage bin is to drill a hole in the side and insert the shrader valve through the back then tighten the thin nuts down. Really simple. Good luck.

Awesome that you did this! With having an onboard compressor do you have the functionality to air up your rig’s tires or other inflatables? If not you should make it happen!

Probably not with this setup given that the compressor is controlled by the manifold. However, that DC circuit I wired up also powers my Viair compressor that sits in that storage bin. I now use that to air up my tires without having to take it out and alligator clip it to my chassis battery with engine running.

Hey Brian just bought a new to us 2003 35-year adventurer noticed I have a sag in the rear on the left side to the right side of about an inch springs are a little pricey at this point these airbags look like they might be the ticket your thoughts on just using them to level out?

It will depend on the overall weight. For me it's only about 1-2 inches.

Thanks Brian! I also have a 32 foot class c. E450 V10. The air bags were installed before I owned it so I have no user manual. Do you adjust the air pressure every trip or just leave it at a set psi. hopefully the manufacturer will be stamped on the air bags so I can get a manual.

I just eyeball it measuring the gap between the top of the tire and wheel well. I also make minor adjustments to get level at camp. Just start with 50% then adjust as needed for the support and leveling you need.

I purchased a 1981 class C Chevy motor home, 20ft. Not knowing anything about RVs, I learned that this one had these air bags. One pumps up but the other one has leaks. I haven't determined where the leaks are yet. But I'm thinking they are pretty old and need replacing. How would I go about finding a compatible set of air lifts? Or do you think I should find the leaks first? It may only be an air line leading to the air lift.
