One downside of Sphinx of the second sun is that due to the wording, the beginning phase happens after your main phase two before your end step. Its still extraordinarily good with decks that have synergy with it but is not as good as one might think at first glance.

So many people get the timing of Sphinx of the Second Sun incorrect. After your 2nd main, you get another [untap, upkeep, draw] - and then the turn ends. So your extra draw, any good upkeep triggers, and a single shot Seedborn Muse-like effect - comes right before the end of your turn, every turn this sticks around. It's an interesting triggered ability on a body that goes great in any draw-go style deck if you play lots of flash & instant speed effects. Just make sure if you're playing with it or planning around it - that you understand the timing correctly. Although it is mana expensive, it pays for itself the turn you cast it as long as it doesn't get removed before the trigger (at the beginning of your 2nd main) - so cast during your 1st main or your combat phase if you have a way to give it flash. If your opponents are tapped out the turn you play this & you have protection effects or counter magic in hand - it's the perfect window to invest in the casting cost.

With the free commander cost cycle, it is even better because all it asks is that you control a commander, and not your commander. Theft decks can go wild with them.

Another important thing to note about Obscuring Haze is that it doesn't *only* prevent combat damage like so many other fogs. It prevents *any* damage your opponent's creatures would do. So if you're playing against a spellslinger deck with a guttersnipe, this also shuts down that damage.

Damn Diamond City cooks really well in a proliferate deck. As an aside I really hope they're able to revisit rad counters in a future set. Milling for value without comboing out would be a cool space to explore more

Bronze Guardian is such an all-star in Artifact decks, put it in my Madison Li Energy Deck instantly :P

Definitely love mizzium mortars alongside chain reaction as budget boardwipes in my Lathliss, Dragon Queen deck. So many new finds from this video too, nice!

Mariposa Military Base is actually a good card, considering there are so many decks that run a card like Arch of Orazca (untapped colourless land that has pay 5: draw a card but only if you have the city’s blessing) and this is strictly better than it in like 3 ways.

The legend rule, and the 0-toughness rule, are similar to sacrifice but they don't trigger things that look for sacrifice.

Artisan of Kozilek was my first Eldrazi. It's very good and useful. So many good ones here. I'm not as sold on the colorless lands, unless you have the synergy of wanting counters on your permanents for diamond City, or want to mill/use rad counters...I suppose you could use a Zirda deck and make it cost 3 to activate... Definitely useful cards, but I'm not sure there's any decks I really want to throw them into right now.

funny i cut mariposa from my mothman deck because i just needed that slot for other better suited lands (landfall subtheme) but i would totally use it in other decks. colorless lands in 3 color decks are kinda rough imo

Similar to Artisan of Kozilek, might I suggest Bane of Bala Ged? It's a 7/5 for 7 with what is effectively an Annihilator 2 that EXILES permanents instead of causing them to be sacrificed. Available for $.30

5:50 the Legend Rule doesnt make you sacrifice for cards that care about when you sacrifice. Instead, you just choose which Legendary to put in the graveyard, which counts as dying

Fun fact, Sphinx of the Second Sun ISN'T legendary which makes him a great target for copy/clone shenanigans. Also, if you happen to have more than one, his ability DOES in point of fact stack with itself.

I'm concerned with obscuring haze. Don't pick up copies you don't plan to use is my thought. Wizards has a habit of taking the weakest card in a cycle and printing it to death. The value of obscuring haze will become so obscured at the rate they are pumping out products. But it is a very solid card and picking up one or two at this price is not bad

Basically everything from the Fallout decks is super cheap and there's a ton of great cards that can go in most decks in there.

Diamond City works really nicely with Karn's Bastion.
