We love getting out in the field, and it's even better when the sun is out and temps are above freezing! Today we're running our first demonstration with the Del Morino Centurion Super offset flail mower. It's a hydraulically controlled mower that allows you to run the mower wide of your tractor's footprint, as well as angle it to accommodate a slope like a ditch bank or undulating terrain. Let's see how good this thing is with our 4066R at tackling brush and grass.

Not to long ago we would just burn this off but today with all the air quality standards and climate change we have had to adopt to new ways to maintain our properties, This Flail Mower is certainly one great way to clean up a property. Keep in mind it is common to start fires when hitting rocks with mowers. Here on the Alaska Highway they shut down mowing operations along the sides of the Highway during the dry season after many fires had raged out of control very quickly. Your Mower did an excellent job.

There are areas I need more offset then the Caroni allows (the Caroni doesn't offset hydraulically, it has two positions to rig the 3PH frame) I've been considering a hydraulic offset flail for a year or two...and I think I've found the one I want... 3 questions: 1) How well does it handled hitting a a big rock, uneven surfaces, or mud? My yard is a mixture of grass, weeds, marsh, brush, and lots of rocks. If like to start clearing it and was hoping I could use something like this. The offset would also be useful since I have lots of ditches and ledges. 2) What size flail would be suitable to a 1025r? 3) Which brands do you consider to be the most reliable?

The flail mower is a very compelling mowing attachment to consider! Especially the hydraulic articulating model. Flat land, sloped land, ditch banks vertical hedging, grass and weeds, small stickups.....just what does it not do? But then, rear hydraulics is must too! Almost makes brush hogs obsolete (except for cost) Geez! Just dig into my pocket deeper.

@flash1259
@flash1259 2 года назад
The flail mower is an impressive piece of equipment. "just what does it not do?" you ask. For me you are on point about the hydraulics. My Kubota 3901 doesn't have rear hydraulics. So that would even add more to the cost of the additional cost of the flail mower. Also, he said the flail mower has a 2" max cut. My 6' Bush Hog brush cutter has a considerable larger maximum cut size. The limbs are a pain riding the tractor under them while bush hogging but, I'm slowly cutting a lot of them out of the way to make it easier. I'm not saying the flail mower isn't worth their extra cost but, if there hadn't been such a big cost difference I probably would have a flail mower now.

I get that gouging in left turns with mine too. But I think its because I don't have a float function at the rear for the tilt function. I think if the roller could float on the ground, I'd get much better results. HINT: If you can find a way to convert a rear remote to float, you'd have at least 1 customer.
@stephennowlan2637
@stephennowlan2637 3 года назад
Not sure if it is common with all the brands, but have seen a video that demonstrates the tilt control on the flail has a slot and you need to keep the cylinder connection centred in the slot so the tilt can float. EDIT: I just remembered it was Tractor Time With Tim that demonstrated that feature
@Gilikemail
@Gilikemail 3 года назад
@@stephennowlan2637 I've seen that type also. Unfortunately, mine has a solid cylinder connection and the manufacturer says you have to hook it up with a float function. Some run hoses to the loader ports, but I'm afraid of not having the loader weight up front when using it.

this appears to be a potentially awesome tool. I really enjoy your videos although i cant say i comment a lot. In consideration of purchasing one of these for my deere 4 series, a couple of questions arise, the first and most apparent being that when it is hydraulically extended, say down in a ditch scenario, it appears to put a heck of a load on the R.H. side lower 3 pt arm to the point where that arm actually looks lower than the left side... I would guess it would also have a load on the top link. All of the weight of the machine extended like that, while in operation... do you recommend any counterweight to the L.H. side of the 3 pt? Id hate to run one of these machines and have too much load on 3 pt to the point that I have trans case cracks or transaxle housing cracks because it has an abnormal amount of load to one side. Just curious if you or anyone you know has also had this question?

Just an FYI about something I've noticed becoming common place on videos both on this channel and others, the high pitched "bell ding" sound effect that are being put into videos during the subscribe plug is a noted cause of a tinnitus spike for me. I constantly have to keep my fingers on the arrow keys while watching videos like this so I can rapidly skip these sections. Due to their usual semi random placement within the video I don't always catch them. That bell sound effect will commonly trigger a tinnitus spike for me, leading to about 5-10 seconds where I can't hear anything other than a high pitched whine. This is an extremely frustrating affliction that has no known cure and I've found myself stopping watching some channels due to this fact. If I can't sit back and relax while watching a video, then it becomes work to watch, and nobody wants more work. I like your channel and your content and I would be grateful if the high pitched bell ring sound effect would be removed from future videos.

A disc mower is better if you plan to make hay, since it cuts the stuff at the bottom and leaves long stalks and stems. The flail mulches everything up really fine and doesn't leave any windrows. I guess it depends on what you want to do after you mow. :)

These are walking paths. Discs leave clumpy, uneven surfaces. Plus, this is an old parking area with tons of crushed stone and deteriorated asphalt.
