Breguet, Blancpain - both incredible brands with pedigree and past. That I do not dispute. However, while discrediting Rolex is easy People forget how difficult it is to create a thin movement - especially with a chronograph. There's nothing technologically superior if you're over 15cm thick.... I'd say Zenith is still the king of chronographs. And the Daytona with the Zenith movement? I think that's still a higher echelon, objectively speaking.

I’d guess that the Daytona (and, say, the Speedy ‘57) may be somewhat more robustly built and better for rough and tumble use on a daily basis.

id guess not .. what are ur arugments ... daytona of course .. but the speedy has almsot the same movement just not flyback

Rough and tumble? My Daytona may be able to take a licking and keep on ticking but it won’t do it looking good though. It’s a scratch magnet. Both the bracelet’s polished center links and the bezel look well worn after about a years wear.

Breguet over Rolex any day. No comparison. The history alone puts them on top.

It's better than a Daytona in every way but the movement. The 4130 movement in the Daytona has a longer power reserve, longer service interval(10 years), and a bigger warranty.

@@tristanpouw702 Yeah, the finishing on the Type XXI movement is far better than a Daytona. I meant from a engineering standpoint the Daytona is superior.

@@mattfoss1652 I prefer this to the Daytona on virtually every level, but finishing aside I think you are right about the movement. This is a cam chrono I believe and column wheel in Daytona possibly. That said I own multiple Rolex in my collection but would never choose Daytona over this.

Well let’s see, I own them both. I needed to service the Daytona once the XXI not yet… but I had the Daytona 10 years, XXI 3 years. Just saying, watches need to be serviced. Even the Daytona.

There's a high frequency noise that's annoying on the audio recording here. Same issue that was on an old Tellurium review I stumbled across. Reckon other videos may have the same problem; consider checking out the equipment and fixing it either by modifying the recording setup (mic swap/sock) or filtering out trash frequencies in editing.

My 3817’s chronograph pushers are pretty stiff,the fly back pusher is even stiffer is it normal?

Ugh... the numbers/indices are TOO BIG! The Breguet Type XXI 3817 is my grail watch (under $10,000). I would put Breguet Type XX/XXI against a Rolex Daytonas anyday (minus resale)... best to buy pre-owned.

I almost bought this piece a couple years ago. I love the case, but I do prefer the dial of the Daytona. And while this movement might be “better” I suspect the Rolex is more durable.

I think Breguet should make an XX offering which eschews the old fashioned elements like that coin edge case siding, the big, Victorian numeral font and cathedralish hands. Not everyone wants 'retro' so why not offer an alternative?

Patek, AP, VC, A.Lange, FP Journe, Bovet, Jaeger, Blancpain, Piaget, JDroz, H Moser, Credor and many more are muuuuuuuch better than Rolex… I hope your comment was a joke… 😂

How can an in-house bad movement in a watch of that sickness on a leather strap much more expensive be a better than the best and most desired watch in the world ?
