As the owner of a small furniture shop I wish I was able to find information like this years ago. It wasn't until I rented my first industrial unit and got to walk through some of the cabinet makers' shops there that I learned about industrial equipment. I now find myself perusing the websites of SCM and the like learning about equipment that I hope to one day bring into my shop. Great video!

For a large woodshop, this probably make a lot of sense, safety of employees is top priority. For me, what happened at 6:05 give me nightmares. Ill continue to use a miter saw and avoid putting my fingers under the blades.

These saws are actually faster, you have less body movements per cut and you aren't stressing yourself holding a board down. Couple this saw with an automated fence and you can fly thru a cultists. I've been using these kinds of saws for a long time, wouldn't give them up!

Radial arm saws sucked for angle cuts as well. Getting them dialed to a proper 90 degrees was an on going challenge, so we changed the angle of the fence instead. Seems like a few basic angled fence plates could be the answer to the upcut saws lack of angle adjustment

Wouldn’t surprise me if it is cheaper than a hospital ER visit, etc. often the safer equipment can be justified just based on that.

I see every time you try to clamp your piece… it moves…. I’m sure more people will make comment…. If you’re happy with your machine is the only thing matters…

Usually the material is pushed up against a fence and a stop and does not move, for the video I did not have the fence. Wanted to show that even if the material does move a little nothing bad happens. On a miter saw, that movement could cause a kickback.
