14 Additional layer of nylon webbing fabric for reinforced durability from boots

Summary :
These are in my opinion the perfect definition of a tactical pair of pants and besides the looks which scream tactical they have the features to make it true. When I first saw these I instantly made a mental comparison with Fjallraven trousers which I have personally worn for years and years.
For adventures in cool to slightly warm conditions, these are excellent. Great for backpacking, excellent for bushcraft and for those whom do security they have enough pockets for all of your carry needs.
Pros :
Looks
Quality - Looks to be quiet good; ykk zippers
Features
Pockets - lots of options. Love the cell phone pocket.
Fit - true to size for me; 32x30 excellent fit - All of the 24-7 Series® pants with a comfort slider waistband run about one size larger. Large enough for an inner layer for warmth for the winter
Cost - excellent especially when you consider that you are getting what seems to be comparable quality to that of Fjallraven but at a fraction of the price.
Vents
Good drying Abilities; thanks to the material these quicker than any cotton
Tough : no rips or tears so far with my testing. Reinforced in all the right places.
Flex - these pants offer a fair amount of stretch to them so you can maneuver as you need to. You can deep squat without any issues.
Cons :
Heavy
Hot. Even with the side vents which do help in breezy conditions, these pants will hold in a lot of heat and for me personally, anything about 75F is simply too hot to wear them. The warmest conditions that I have tested them out in was around 88F and it was a miserable experience…lots of sweat which was only compounded by the strenuous work which I was doing. These are perfect for cooler weather
When I received these pants there were some random threads hanging here and there. Nothing of any concern but not what I would expect to see for a pair of pants which cost around $100 retail.
Durability : This remains to be seen and I have to be honest about this. With Fjallraven trousers I have worn them for years; adventure after adventure, day after day and they have earned their status. These pants haven’t; so far so good but only time will tell if they can hold up like Fjallraven’s do.

I just purchased this pants and I gotta say they are excellent. Well made and really stand up the elements when you're out in the bush or camping. I purchased them from Tactical Gear so I didn't pay as much as some websites. Great pants. Thank you Luke, for introducing them to us.

Bit late with my comment this time, but great review (as always) and perfect timing, Luke, as these are the exact pants I am about to purchase here in Australia. I have a few different types of hike/bash-worthy pants and most are heavier duty. This is always something you need to consider here in Australia, as even in winter where I live the temperature has been hitting 27C (80F) during the day. I find that I get used to the temperature fairly quickly if it's hot day after day and generally won't sweat profusely even in the heavier pants if I have a suitable top on and stay healthy. The protection that pants like these offer is worth the slight discomfort of sweating, in my opinion, especially since heading off-trail is one of my favourite freedoms. Some bush can get mighty scratchy! Thanks again, mate. By far the best gear review channel available; no unnecessary edits and no alternative agenda. Love your work!

I have several pairs of these in different colours and I love them. I've worn them in summer, in the rain and in winter. I used them while out hiking/fishing in 30 degrees Celsius and I found them to be very comfortable. The vents work well. I had a 30lb pack on and the trails were no joke. These stretch with you, allowing you to climb up hills and climb around cliffs, in between trees, over logs and giant rocks etc with ease. The front pockets are not ideal for carrying items like keys, ferro rods etc. They are on the front instead of the sides so that you can have access to them when wearing leg rigs. I've found that these front pockets are well placed for winter. I cut pieces of closed-cell foam and inserted them into the pockets and that protected my thighs from the bitterly cold winds. One thing Luke did not cover is that these have pockets for knee pads. With the knee pads in you can kneel on rocks when changing fish hooks and for camp chores. I had the knee pads in when on my hikes and I was still very comfortable. The slash pocket openings are large enough to allow easy access with no hang-ups. The re-enforced knife clip patches are very nice. These pants are so popular in this city that the main supplier can't keep them in stock. Every person will have a different experience with everything that they own and my experiences with these pants have been nothing but positive.

I own several of the Tru-Spec 24/7 series, but haven't snagged the Xpedition ones yet. I'm a fan of the rest of the 24/7 line, which I originally bought to save money instead of buying 5.11 STRYKE pants, $40 vs $75 on Amazon for basically the same pants. I had better go order a couple pairs before Amazon sells out due to your review. Semper Fi

I can speak to the quality of these pants! I used this pair of pants for work on the railway now for a spring, summer, and fall season. The railway is subject to harsh chemicals (creosote, rust, industrial glue, metal dust) and sharp objects (spikes, rail, and rail fragments, and rocks in form of ballast) i love them! Pockets for everything i need. I even store a leatherman multi-tool in one of the thigh vents. Where a normal pair of pants last, maybe a couple months, these have out performed my expectations! We are required to use pants all the time. Whether it is 10° or 40° and the vents really come into their own when you're unavoidably drenched in sweat. I am a 38/40 X 32, and they have more of a 'bootcut' look rather than the above-mentioned 'snow-pants' look. Great pick 5 stars!
@TAVAAR7

Love mine, got 2 pair of short too. Pants were under $65 and shorts i picked up for about $35 each. Great pants with nice pockets and layout (although the cell pocket doesn't fit many phones, its roughly the size of a vertical dollar bill in width and a tad shorter in depth for anyone wondering). But they are dang hot, even the shorts are uncomfortably warm at the 75° and up range. Its worth mentioning that the shorts have the exact same pocket layout as the long pants so if you like consistency for what goes where these are great for swapping between the two as weater and seasons change. My biggest issues are the heat and the zipper fly doesn't go down low enough, although its better than other pants I've tried

I have three pair of the Fjallraven's and two pair of the Tru Spec expedition pants. There are some basic differences, and as you correctly pointed out, the Fjallraven's are MUCH better in warmer weather, they just breathe better. The Tru-Spec's are much heavier in construction and fabric, so I would only wear them during the late Fall or Winter. The Tru-Specs are a fantastic bang for the buck. And can be found on sale, but the Fjallravens can be found cheaper than retail price also, just more rarely.

Tough decision... My big gripe with most hiking pants is not enough belt loops. You can never have enough pockets. I think the weight alone is stopping me from getting a pair. Even in winter they could be too hot. I live in New England and usually wear a thermal bottom if it is really cold. Maybe, if the company does read the comments, they will make a lighter weight version, with all the fantastic features of these. Luke, Love your reviews. You are truly blessed. Keep it up.

You focused a lot about how hot they are. After wearing jeans all my life on the gulf coast, these are great. It was 98 deg yesterday with a heat index of 106. I was outside all day. Jeans just get soaked and weight to what feels like 30 pounds. I laughed at the ski pants part. I came to work with these and a coworker asked if I was trying to bring back parachute pants lol.

Thanks for the review. I note your trouser length is a bit longer than a normal street pant. Do you keep them longer as tic protection? Do they come longer for a given normal length or do you order them this way? Having worn Marine Utility trousers in a similar length with blousing bands, I understand longer length. This also raises a question, have you ever used boot (blousing) bands? They were helpful at Camp Pendleton as I do not recall tics being an issue in the lower extremities. In Vietnam, they were somewhat helpful with leaches, but hot. Ripstop later was cooler (in green and in camy) than the older cloth but maybe not as strong as the older uniform and, outside the tropics, not as warm. --RACKER

They look quality and perfect for the price. Personally, I could only wear them if the temp was 40 degrees F or less. Unfortunately, Im one of those people who sweats watching someone else briskly walk on an even trail in cold temps. The vents would work perfectly at temps below freezing for me. Any suggestions for clothing that isn't insanely priced for people like me? I usually just deal but have been in dangerous situations due to both excessive heat and cold even with moisture wicking clothing.

I have 2 pair which I bought on sale a few years ago... essentially, I could have bought 5 or 6 pairs of these for the price of 1 pair of Fjalravens, so they're better.. Stretching waist for IWB or OWB CCW is awesome!... 10mm bearmoose pistola, in coyote g20 flavor, loves it. Better than Fjalraven. No issues in 3 years of fairly regular use outdoors and indoors. Long underwear works well. Love the front pockets and "phone pocket" for driving/overlanding because mapping gear, phone, wallet, radios, pocket tools, etc.. are easily accessible while seated in Jeep. Stretchy material is great for getting in and out, up and down. Zero binding - onece again, better than Fjalraven. I use pants bottom buttons ALL THE TME depending on footwear, and the long zips allow me to get them off with shoes/boots on, unless they're big insulated boots. Great deal. I'll buy more if they shred. Goes very well with Helikon-tex anorak or 5.11 vest, btw. Pretty sure I spelled Fjalraven wrong. No matter... nothing but overpriced gucci gear.

Are they true to size? I get a bit sketchy buying clothes on amazon, as I have found things to vary wildly in sizes.

I have several pairs of Tru Spec tactical pants! Love the expandable waist! Also use their shirts! Not the pair you are featuring! Due to the cost! Mine overall do the job for desert operations here!

Hi, Luke a question little bit off topic (its not about the pants) I was planning to buy Savotta Jääkäri L rucksack but I was also looking into backpacks with outer frame. So the problem is I cannot choose a backpack with outer frame or an inner one. I am buying a pack to go on long hikes and stays in the forest and mountain areas. Any advice?

External Frame packs and Internal Frames are both going to have pros and cons but for most people I would recommend an internal frame as they fit the body better/closer and allow for a great degree of movement and balance. The Savotta Jääkäri L Rucksack is an AWESOME backpack and my review for it is coming up soon. If you have any further questions email me and I will address them for you. Comments get easily lost as there tends to be so many. - Luke
