Much better than the 3rd film. And if this was going to be the last one, at least it went out on a good note. What was you reaction? How would you rank the Shrek films? The villian's voice was an animator, not an actor, he was doing the voice during storyboard meetings and people liked the voice a lot he ended up doing it.
The biggest takeaway for me from this movie is... we are so used to seeing our wife/husband/mom/dad in a certain way, that we never stop to think... how different they could have turned out in other circumstances. Shrek thought as long as he found Fiona in this new universe, she would be exactly the same wife/mom he left behind...he could kiss her and all would go back to normal. But here she was, kicking ass as an absolute warrior queen! This is what the sweet, motherly Fiona was capable of - under different circumstances. Just a reminder to not underestimate the people in our lives.
Yes! I absolutely love that they went this route. Also, I feel like it is absolutely believable that Fiona would become this bad a** leader of the resistance under these circumstances.
It's all about circumstance, now Shrek knows that his wife had it in her to be this way all along but didn't have to resort to it since he saved her. He finally got a new outlook on his loved ones
Not enough people talk about how SAD it is that donkey ran away from shrek. He was the first one to see shrek as someone who needs a friend. When he ran i could just see how destroyed shrek was when donkey ran away
Some say it is out of character for Shrek to want to go back to how things were before. But I think it was perfectly in character. Because Shrek enjoyed the thrill of being able to scare and prank people. He just didn’t like the hatred involved in it.
I think it goes deeper than just pranking people. Shrek loved the respect that came with being feared and was a huge introvert, comfortable with his own presence. Going from that to having a wife, best friend and a group of external friends overnight (and eventually having children) probably felt like a huge change to someone who figured they’d spend the whole of their existence alone.
Shrek never wanted to lose what he had. He just wanted a momentary break from it all, so for people to say he wanted to go back to how things were before is a gross oversimplification of what was actually going on with him.
@@traydevon Yeah that’s exactly right. It’s much more subtle than just “I’m upset with my new routine-based life, I want EVERYTHING from before”. I can relate to Shrek very deeply about living a very routine, simple life. And breaks from it all are NECESSARY.
This movie is very underrated it's made to fix Shrek 3 and complete the franchise the proper way it subverts the whole story by doing the reverse of the first film which is honestly beautiful and it puts Shrek through a new arc to appreciate what he had and appreciate who he is also as an Ogre I love this film and people need to appreciate how good it is and why it's a perfect finale and story for Shrek
"You know what the best part of today was ? I got the chance to fall in love with you all over again" Man, this line is so heartbreaking. What a beautiful movie ❤
The Pied Piper's flute music is done by the late Jeremy Stieg, who was a jazz flautist and was the son of William Stieg, the guy who wrote the original Shrek book, which the first movie is based on.
He was also the actual flutist from Beastie Boys’ Sure Shot (well, it was his song that they sampled for it). So it was perfect to have him play that song.
Mike Myers' voice acting in this movie was stellar. His line delivery in some of those one on one moments is the reason this movie punches me emotionally. For example, when he's telling Fiona all the things he knows about her, his voice cracks. If that voice crack was intentional, it was masterful. If it was unintentional, it was naturally perfect. He was desperate and frustrated. It makes sense to crack like that. The animation, soundtrack, and Myers' voice work...all perfect in that scene. And the way they frame the shot when he ends with, "...is because you've never been kissed...well, by me." 👌
I like that Fiona *saved herself* in the alternate timeline. She was a badass with her own volition. Shrek finally realised that she didn’t need him to thrive, & she loved him for that 💚
@@1x4 I didn't find it unrealistic that she stopped believing in some prince charming that would eventually rescue her. However, it does bother me that there were so many ogres around in this timeline but we never got to see any in the other movies.
I actually thought this movie was always an interesting idea for Shreks character. He never asked for a lot of the stuff that happened starting with the first movie and things that kept happening so very very quickly. So many changes and going from near solitude to surrounded by people without a moments privacy is a shock to the system. I like that he took what he had a little bit for granted because it came to him so quickly and usually it was the result of a provlem forced onto him that he needed to fix. I like how throughout this movie he was forced to realize what he had and what really held value and made him happy. If there was every going to be a story afyer Happily Ever After I definately imagine this to be what happens.
I've said it once, I'll say it again. If Shrek 3 hadnt flopped so hard, Shrek 4 would have been just as appreciated as the first two. While it's not perfect, it definitely feels a lot more genuine and heart-wrenching than the third one.
In Shrek’s defense, his craving to go back to his past self is understandable. Fiona may have known that ogre life even before Shrek saved her, but Shrek had to learn all these human traditions just for Fiona and all these factors pressured him to having a mental and emotional breakdown. Now, the way people treat him hurt his ego as someone who once was feared throughout. I can’t even see the respect people should give him or maybe that’s just how the people in the Shrek verse behave.
Nah those domesticated geese can be total menaces 😂 when I was teenager I lived near a farm that had them, and they were constantly coming around to harass my dog and tear up our yard. I never knew they hissed before that so Fifi is pretty damn accurate lmao.
I liked Charming as a villain its just that he wasn’t fleshed out as a character in 3 his revenge story could’ve been better and they focused more on Arthur than the core characters imo
yess. I loved Shreks story arc about him coming to terms with being a dad, and finding out that he doesn't have to be like his own father. I know some people don't like Arthur, but I thought he was a great addition to Shreks arc. Though the best part of the movie (for me) was DEFINITELY the princesses. I've always liked the third, but now that I'm older I can understand why some may not love it. Charming is pretty mid, and the whole thing about creating a play was very boring. I think the main cast makes up for it though.
This is actually my favorite of the bunch. The franchise is known for subvert the expectations but this turns all that on our heads by twisting all the already subverted expectations even more.
I always cried when i was little when they said “felicia” at the same time, just got me right in the feels! then and there she knew he actually did know HER and all her deepest secrets❤❤absolutely loved this film!!
I think this was a good way to cap off the Shrek movies. It brought a depth to Shrek, the character, that we hadn’t really previously seen. Very heartfelt and charming - I loved it. 😄
I found you guys a few days ago and just binged some of your videos. I was watching through your Shrek reactions and was like " oh no they probably didn't release the 4th one did they?" And you did it 20 minutes ago. Yasss😂❤
Do they? Cus, the last thing I heard was that illumination studios bought the rights, so if there is another shrek movie, i dont think it will be the 5th, maybe a restart....hope not
Somethin' about a Badd Medicine video makes ya feel right at home. Been loving the reactions guys! I think you guys should check out the Vox Machina animated series here soon!
There was an app back in the day that was just tapping that kids face and he would say “do the roar” and then after a while Shrek would roar. That was it, that was the app
I loved this one. It constantly trades places with the 2nd for my fav. in the franchise. I loved the AU concept & seeing the characters in different ways. I also loved the other Ogres - namely Brogan & Cookie. I want them both back for the next Shrek.
Lovely to be along for the ride - actually funny me and my boyfriend just finished re-watching all these Shrek movies last month! So it's a funny coincidence
Always loved this one. Such a perfect ending to the series. The puss and boots films are good too, with a bit of distance from the Shrek films. Not sure if Shrek 5 can work, but Puss in Boots 2 was surprisingly fantastic so here's hoping.
I hope you’ll watch these movies with your kids one day too ❤ I grew up watching them with my sister and they were part of our childhood… I’m so grateful for that. 😊
Love watching you guys crack up lol. I do personally like this more then 3, but 2 is iconic as best. Mid life crisis and just dealing with stress can make you break and make mistakes. Didnt help Rumpelstiltskin also got Shrek drinking and played to his feelings. This was a fun movie to end the series on, I did not expect a 5th to come out. I am skeptical but hold my hopes up its a good one.
Shrek 3-D was actually the home video release of the footage created for the Shrek 4-D attraction at Universal Studios. The plot takes place immediately following the original Shrek (the only film released at the time the attraction was created) and brings back John Lithgow as Farquaad as he tried to get his revenge upon Shrek and Fiona.
Please check out, Rise Of The Guardians (2012) it’s based on Santa Claus, The Tooth Fairy, The Easter Bunny, Sand Man, Jack Frost and The Boogeyman….it takes place on Easter ( not Christmas ) but it’s a very cute story, you guys should watch I would like to see your reaction to this.
My favorite thing about this movie is that they're willing to tackle the topic of every relationship no matter what is going to have some issue somewhere... It might not even be a big issue however enough small issues or the same small issue repeating over and over and over again or the inability to convey what they need while adapting to change or whatever but even if it is true love that doesn't mean there won't be issues and I love that a series that started out as a flipping on the head of classical fairy tales goes on to flip the ending of happily ever after to Yes it's happily ever however that doesn't mean it doesn't have its problems or it's issues.
I KNEW y'all would love this one!!! Man I cry with the ending even by watching reactors jqjfiebfkfb fire reaction, I always adore hear you guys crack up laughing 😂❤🔥
❤❤❤ I have to say, you guys nailed it 👌 and I love hearing about your little guy ❤ Thanks for what you do ❤ This is my first time movie request ... 🥁🥁🥁🥁 The New Guy... 😃
When I said Shrek's movie was relevan and relatable even through the whole 8 years from the first movies, is that the story progressed too with our real life. At the start, some audience probably still single back then, trying to know themselves, still in love. During the middle (2nd and 3rd movie), probably got some fight going on in our relationships, that's normal, and who knows, in that 8 years, some of us the audiences already married and got children of our own, Shrek's movie is still relatable. That' what I love about this movies. And to me, they didn't change Fiona that much, she is still the dependable princess that we all love. She did the same in the third movie, I think, where she be the leader of all the princesses, and now a leader of an ogre, but the most important message is, she's still waiting for true love.
