Forgot to recommend..."The Light" (Original), "She's Gone" (Steelheart cover), "Who Want's to Live Forever" (Queen cover), "Over the Hills and Far Away" (Gary Moore cover)(awesome guitar!), also any of his disneyton covers...
There is a reason why Tommy fans insists on saying that he doesn't do covers but upgrades. Talking about high tenor qualities, take a listen to She's Gone or You Raise Me Up 1 octave challenge or his version of Phantom of the Opera where he sings both part. Tommy started learning guitar at age 9 and founded his band Majestica, former ReinXeed, at age 14. Last year that band celebrated it's 20 years. Tommy is a musical veteran. Sabaton tried to recruit him already 2012, but he turned them down until 2016.
Tommy is not often use his head voice is like 90-95% chest or mixed voice but he have a crazy range, b2-c6 that means that he is a baryton, tenor and women soprano, so he is a world class singer and more! Tommy dosnt do covers, he does upgrades everyone of his covers are masterpieces. He plays everything in his covers, well everything you see and hear is Tommys work except filming. He is a musical genius! Hope to see more Tommy from you.
@@harmonicchaos1337 Bro you havent heard anything what he is capable of. I recommend Phantom of the opera where he sings his highest note ever a C6 like a women soprano or You raise up, one octave challenge and Shes gone, when you heard those you will be stunned!
I really enjoyed your reaction! Totally agree that Tommy's covers are all upgrades. More Tommy please! Usually wait to subscribe until the second reaction but gave you a sub on the first...
Oh, yes! This cover is so much better than the original! Since you talked a bit about singing techniques, would you do a reaction to Tommys 'Tell No Tales'? That is Tommys most extreme cover (as far as voice technique go). Very high pitched! Check it out 🧨
Thank you for reacting to Tommy's cover, he is really incredibly talented musician. I suggest checking out his covers She's Gone (Steelheart), Phantom Of The Opera (he sings both roles), You Raise Me Up and his own song The Light
That was great 🤘👍 Tommy is a hidden gem in Sabaton😀 Suggestion for next song is “The light 20 year celebration very high vocals and amazing guitar work. Tommy’s re-recording of his own originally written song ( first recorded at 18 ) . Tommy started his band Reinxeed (now Majestica) at 15 (where he is singer, guitarist and songwriter) .. and still curious about what you think of the treatment of the audio since I find it fascinating that Tommy’s does everything himself (except filming that he gets help with from time to time) on these covers just from his homemade studio in his apartment. .. perhaps next time 😉 @Amy Godson 🔥🌹
Great reaction. As for recommendations: I just happened to stumble upon "Visions of Atlantis" (symphonic metal, pirate style) - their female lead has an amazing voice. However, I am not quite sure which song to recommend. They are all quite nice, as far as I can tell, but so far, I could not tell which I liked the most or liked the least. "Legion of the seas" was quite catchy. Or "A journey to remember", maybe. They are also in the "epic video" category, but as I said - the vocals are stunning, imho.
As fantastic as this was I will probably not listen to it again but I will always listen to the original for me personally it has that something this one doesn’t have. 🌼
This one is not 'better' to me, but it sits beside it as a very good cover that goes its own way. I think if you want to see a cover that is 'better' by Tommy? Try 18 and Life, for example. Sebastian who? Tommy plays lead most of the time, but Criss does it on some songs. You could say they're both guitar players for sabaton and be correct.
That’s a fair evaluation, I am more biased towards Tommy’s style so that is probably why I like it slightly more than the original. That being said, I still love the original!
If you want hear another amazing high male voice. React to Loïc Nottet! His song million eyes or his cover of Sia's Chandelier (the version recorded in a radio station). He has a unique voice!
Haha we Swedes are freeze preserved half a year, not easy to guess the age of people, I have dated girls I thought was like 25 the day after I found out her age was 37 haha is hopeless! And you are well preserved.
@@ca82MHz And I live in the town with a bridge to Copenhagen, so a bit warmer with the continent around the cornerr! Its the football who keeps me young haha!
I'll go even farther than you about the Weezer cover of this song - I absolutely hate it. Where this cover is fun and exciting, Weezer's version is lifeless and dull. IMO, a great cover should either find something new in a song, reinterpret it in a different way, or at the very least celebrate the original song. I wouldn't say that Tommy really reinterprets "Africa", but he does find something new in it, and he definitely celebrates it from start to finish. Frankly I don't think Weezer's version does any of those things. You can tell in all his covers that Tommy loves music, and he loves these songs, and every cover he does is a true homage to them. Every one is worth checking out. But with regard to "Africa", as much as I love Tommy Johansson's cover, I really do still think the very best cover is still Leo Morachioli's. I just found your channel, so I don't know if you're familiar with Leo, but in case you are not, he's a youtuber who puts out tons of metallized cover versions of songs. He's an incredibly talented multi-instrumentalist and cover artist. You can find his cover of Toto's "Africa" here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MH9FyLsfDzw.html
@@VohbikaMama-lp8bu Of course Tommy is a world superstar playing in one of the biggest bands in the world, tourimg 9-10 months a year but still takes the time doing covers to all his fans and remember he is just a background singer in Sabaton. Its very hard work from Tommy making him what he is!
