@littleNorwegians That’s Fleischer’s multiplane technique, also used by Disney. Sort of 2-1/2D. The backgrounds are painted on multiple sheets of glass, and moved at different rates from frame to frame, as the characters move in the foreground. For the opening camera move (0:35-0:39), everything is racked at an angle rather than strictly horizontal-very clever. Note also that the multiplane only operates for exterior traveling shots, not inside the butcher’s (ca. 6:10-6:25).
