Another example of Betty's range of musical taste. This time taking 2 very different musical greats (Billy Joel & Nina Simone) and blending them beautifully.
She had the best arrangers and musical directors for her Carnegie hall concerts. So glad they were recorded. Lupone’s first and best at Carnegie hall wasn’t recorded, nor was the divine miss m, in 1972, when she was with Barry and brilliant.
This is one of my favorite sequences on the Carnegie Hall album-and Everything Must Change is among the recordings I have listened to most often over the years. It is absolutely transcendent and gorgeous musicianship. Thanks for separating these two songs from the full concert.
