i was THERE! and every audience member got a postcard for a free copy of the (double!) album of the astonishing concert we'd just seen. some people called her "the ONLY jazz singer", 'cause she used her voice like a sax or piano improviser. i call her Bebop Betty, one of the greatest singers who has ever lived.
Amazing, thank you so much! Very few musicians in History are capable of improvise over a brief four bars coda (plus the initial tune chords and a few choruses of blues near the end) for 25 minutes and make every note truly worthwile!!
Today (1/30/19) in NYC we had snow with white out conditions, and wind chills below zero. But this 40 year old recording packs more punch then the weather.
@@frog382 jazz is not everyone's cup of tea. But for the one's that do appreciate jazz I recommend this song to them. Some of these jazz artists are so underrated that they never got the recognition that they truly deserved Facts!!!
This song is my Top 2 wt her, I have this double Cd, Everything I Have Is Yours and Caribbean Nights are favourites, too‼️I thinks Betty Carter are one of the best Jazzvocalist's, before Sarah Vaughan, Carmen Mc Ray, Nnenna Freelon and Amy Winehouse, who are good Jazz names, too‼️As a 19 years old, I bought my first two Jazz Albums, Sarah Vaughan's Crazy An Mixed Up and Ella Fitzgerald', s The Best Is Yet To Come‼️I lived in a small place wt only 1 shop who sold music recordings, this community was to small and I moved to the town as a 25 years old and the possibilities in music where unfolding wt concerts and shops who sold music, "everywhere" ‼️🎯JazzyT.
