Did no shrink ever consider a bi-polar diagnosis? She's all over the map here.

That would explain a lot. Her manic behavior feels overwhelming in this interview.

You are correct. Betty was an incredibly troubled person. Given her response to her daughter's first comments, it's no wonder the reunion was short-lived.

@2:52 I feel like you get a little glimpse into their relationship when Betty takes over and says she was a 'perfect mother' and there is this look in Lindsey's eyes. Then later on she says she worked all the time when her kids were young and she's better with her grandchildren. I wonder what went wrong after this. Okkkk she moved in, bad idea.

I read that none of her daughters even went to her funeral, so things must have gotten bad again. Sad.

Well maybe not, some people don't believe in funerals. The person isn't there anyway. And it could be so traumatic, it's best not to go in most cases.

What a tragedy to lose your children for so long but having found them again is a test of Faith. And for the rest of her life she was loved which is all she ever wanted! God blessed us with her talent and life’s struggles to learn what it means to LOVE! Thank you to all of the Offspring of This great Lady who has helped so many be strong and come back to their families. Thank you to those making these memories unveiled to all of us! God Blessed us with this life of Betty Hutton Revealed! They should make a movie of her Life story. Her story needs to be told in view of her Triumph over addiction and through her FAITH she found PEACE of Heart and Soul! ❤

Betty Hutton was a normal hman who had a lot of preassure all around her. And when your addicted to alcohol you are NOT thinking straight.It's not their fault. Even if their not drinking or using , their not thinking right because of the guilt, personal problems, money, etc. etc. etc. That's what rehabilitation Centers and rehabs are for. God bless anyone who goes through this Hell.

Charismatic as Betty was, she was NOT a good mother (same thing with Judy Garland) you can see it on Lindsay's face throughout the interview Sadly, not one of her daughters attended her funeral.

Judy Garland was a great mother to all of her children. Yes they had unusual childhoods but ALWAYS felt loved. Judy’s children all attended her funeral and miss her very much to this very day,

Betty Hutton had such hard years, exactly like Judy Garland. So sad of all this, they had such talents, such sensitivity.
@Droodog127
@Droodog127 3 года назад
she was asked to replace Judy in Annie Get your gun when Judy had her breakdown and while filming Betty was shunned by the cast and crew and she felt so depressed and didn't know why they were being mean to her.

I figured as i watched the video that living together again with her children would not work out. Poor Betty Hutton seemed too insecure. How could she be trusted to help with the grandchildren on a daily basis. It’s one thing to be reunited but quite another to live under the same roof. I think they should have rebuilt their relationships slowly. It seems like her childhood set her on a rocky road with little possibility for sustained happiness and wellbeing.

PS - Watch her older daughter’s face when Betty cuts her off. There is a lot of resentment in those eyes. If you ask me, Betty is acting manic through out the interview.

I think Betty had a nervous break down. Sometimes actors and actresses can't handle aging and not being in the spotlight. I hate her children had to suffer from it.

JACK ANTHONY she always came off as a woman who meant well but would be very draining to be around, just non stop. Also of course her personal issues were probably hard to get past. Sadly none of her daughters or grandchildren really visited her in her final years or even attended her memorial service.

Betty didn't have any money to scam. She herself had stated a number of times in different interviews that she was flat broke. She made 9 million dollars during her career and lost it all. Paid out several large divorce settlements and never received any residuals for the movies she made.

I read the whole family was like that...Betty was estranged from her family and later in life, her older sister Marion too. I think Marion was estranged from her kids as well. Show business is a family-killer. But, they both brought joy and happiness to millions of people during their time on this earth. RIP Betty and Marion.

Families are Families; we have no business there; none of us...to judge her or her daughters; it's their affair...l'd just like to say, on a happier note...that Betty started her career...in her mother's speakeasy in the1920's ; the Roaring 20's; Charleston et al...and was still on trend, on point, styling it with DISCO and the Farrah Flick 60 YEARS LATER...that's ICONIC...if you know ANYTHING about Style...A ture legend...

Parents are never perfect, some less perfect than others, but sons and daughters should ALWAYS honor their parents ( obviously cases of sexual and physical abuse excepted ). It's selfish and self destructive to do otherwise. Betty Hutton was not perfect, she had alcohol and drug abuse problems, but by all accounts, she was good to her children and loved them dearly. Her father left Betty and her mother when Betty was 2 yrs old. 16 years later, her father committed suicide and it deeply affected Betty. There is never an excuse for not honoring your parents ( save sexual and physical abuse ) and God feels it important enough to make it His 6th of 10 Commandments. The reasons are as much for the welfare of the children as they are for the parents. RIP, Betty

I wish shows like this had not interviewed her. She was just too tender and emotional. Shows like this treated her like an oddity. What was her daughter even thinking. She evidently did not really have any protectors in her life. They would have never let her come on here and let them milk her emotions. Hard to watch. TCM Robert Osborne’s interview with Betty just a few years before her death is the one to watch. He was so kind, so tender with her. You got a sense of who she really was.
