This was Betty's only appearance on Tom's CBS talk show. Based on their conversation, it's clear that she had also appeared on one of Tom's earlier, pre-CBS shows.
God I can never get enough of Tom Snyder. I watched him almost every night after Letterman when he was on. These interviews are unlike anything now. A format that is truly missed.
Probably lung cancer. Tom was a smoker. Come on you smokers and admit it. Smoking is a truly dirty habit. Cigs taste bad and smell awful! Full ashtrays are disgusting let alone HOW YOU SMELL. Lungs are made for inhaling fresh air not hot nicotine. BTW, lungs actually REGENERATE after you quit. It's never too late to stop killing yourself.
That is a legend right right there. Television began with Betty White, and she was responsible for almost everything that's on TV today. She will be missed. Thank you so much for bringing us this gem.
@@chrisnalina1755 There’s no NBC archival collection, just those captured by the show’s fans. I know of a few substantial stashes, but nothing complete.
@@dongiller Why did they save Saturday Night Live but not the Tomorrow shows from the same time period? At some point in time they started preserving and archiving, right? They also preserved the Midnight specials from the 1970's, right? So they picked and chose what to save?
Thank you so much for posting this 🖖🏻 Betty White was truly and unquestionably the real first Lady of television. She was the first woman to produce a national TV show, the first woman to star in a sitcom, the first woman to receive an Emmy nomination - and the first woman to ever appear on television, given her performance on an experimental broadcast in 1939. No one could ever touch her accomplishments. A pioneer of the medium. And a pioneer for women. An animal rights activists. She paid for a private plane to relocate otters and penguins from Audubon Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans in the aftermath of 2005′s Hurricane Katrina. Unselfish, caring, empathetic, strong willed who championed causes near and dear to her heart. Her kind is not likely to ever be seen again, especially in this evil, vacuous, self entitled, selfish, egomaniacal world of today where it's all about "ME" while taking and posting hundreds of selfies of yourself and where you're at. I love you Betty ❤️
Today’s world is a horrible one and people are uncaring and vain. Makes me very sad. I have hope for better still but it has to get worse to get better …
@@desertrose1226 It's modern Humankind's destiny. Sad. But it is all for a reason. I like the thought from The DESIDERATA that says something about whether or not we know it The Universe is rolling right on course. And there is a Light at the end of this dark tunnel. LITERALLY!! 🙏 ❤ ✌ Don't despair and STAY UNAFRAID!!
@@joannaedwards6325 Oh the ''desiderata''... is that the one that reads ''go placidly amid the noise and haste'?' i have always loved that mantra...and thankyou. It's hard to be positive in today's world but I do try to be.
Thanks so much for all of your uploads, Don. There are lots of us late night fans out here. I love the Letterman videos, Snyder videos, and hope to see you upload Craig Kilborn videos too.
@@MsTabitha1967 Lots of Ferguson on RU-vid. Just got to look him up. His times with Robin Williams are hilarious! They sparked off of each other so brilliantly.
I listened to a very old radio program on You Tube that Betty White debut on and she was 8 or nine years old. It was amazing. That's how far back she goes
NBC late Night used to be so awesome back in the '80s. Carson, Letterman, Snyder, SCTV, Linda Ellerbee. What a time! At least Letterman was trying to keep this vibe on CBS by supporting Snyder. in the '90s.
Thank you for these uploads, Don. Have you considered adding a thank you button to your content? Some content providers have a little heart thanks button under each video to allow people to contribute towards their efforts. The gems you provide are gifts to those of us who appreciate old television.
Not aware of it. Is it something that can link to either my Patreon or GoFundMe accounts? Those I have linked on the channel’s “About” page. And thanks!
@@dongiller It looks like it's set up by the content provider with RU-vid. I'm not a content provider so don't know the specifics. Some videos show the like, dislike, share, buttons -- then a heart shape with a $ sign inside of the heart with thanks written next to it, and then the save button. Hope this helps! The thanks button appears under each video so it's easy to locate.
@@fiona4228 Thanks for this. I did a little goggling and found that it’s first initiated in the “monetization” section. I don’t monetize anything on my channel, so I think this particular option isn’t accessible.
What a roller coaster of a day, found out Betty White was dead but at the same time I found out Bob Newhart's alive, and tweeting. Do not trust that man, I watched like six seasons of a show that didn't even exist. Still don't know what I was really want watching that whole time, don't believe I wanna know.
(end of the show) “What does that mean? Fifteen” (got it). I have always admired how personalities can properly fill out remaining time without even a 5 second silent whoops on the end.
I loved him . Since teen years....I made it in as a caller one night in October. His facial expressions & overall demeanor used to just crack me up- I never knew exactly why. There was something about him that I just plain liked. I also got even more respect for him watching him interview Charles Manson. He handled it best you could expect the best person for that kind of task would require. I can only hope that he is in the Rest of God. ❤️
I think I’m missing one or two Snyders. Kilborn and Ferguson are complete. I think. I haven’t digitized any of the latter two yet and just a handful of Tom so far.
Paul Newman at the Advertising Club of NY where he was speaking on behalf of Sen. Eugene McCarthy. Just about loosening him up after 1.5 hrs when the interview ended. Someone had run into the room shouting `He`s been shot. He`s been shot. Martin Luther King has been shot`.
I worked as PA on `Emphasis` NBC when Walters was one of the 5 live radio presenters. She`s finish the `Today` show, grab a cuppa, before heading for the studio to do the radio segment (once a week) I remember her agonizing cries of being awakened at 3am and losing a private live in the course of it. She was married at the time to Lee Guber and when they decided to adopt Jacqueline. So White`s comments resonate on rejecting the `Today` show offer and getting up middle of night. Hard to believe Walters is the same person as she was when I knew her late Sixties. She was so cutting edge back then. Course the discourse of the interviews has improved but as a personality she lost alot. Not taking about today when she`s in retirment but the years after leaving NBC and on `The View` etc.
@@dongiller I know that I am 100% correct because… Back then (even now) I just have what I call regular TV…nothing fancy and it’s FREE… It’s just ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS. I believe Snyder came on after Johnny Carson if memory serves me correctly… or did Tom Snyder come on after David Letterman? I’m 71 years old… My brain is still sort of sharp 😂😂😂 Snyder also interviewed Queen Latifah. I always remember that I was at the time not a fan of Snoop Dogg and I was not a fan of Queen Latifah but after they were interviewed by Snyder I became a fan of both.
Yes; Queen Latifah guested on Tom’s Late Late Show (after Dave on CBS; Johnny had retired in May 1992): November 15, 1996, and August 22, 1997.. but Snoop Dog never did. As I mentioned, Tom had hosted a talk show on CNBC previous to his CBS show, and perhaps that’s when Snoop appeared. But he never guested on Tom’s Late Late Show. When Craig Kilborn succeeded Tom in 1999, Snoop did appear on _his_ Late Late Show. Four times: May 11, 1999; May 11, 2000; November 16, 2001; and September 9, 2002. And then once on Craig Ferguson’ LLS on June 26, 2006. But never on Tom Snyder’s LLS, which ran from January 1995 to March 1999. Tom hosted his Tomorrow Show after Johnny from 1973 to 1981 on NBC. Snoop’s career didn’t begin until 1992, so it’s doubtful he would have appeared on that show.
@@dongiller it’s strange how the brain works. It’s good I didn’t bet any money on this Don… because I would’ve lost a bundle 😂😂😂💰💰💰 Sometime in the future I’m going to watch when Snoop Dogg was on Craig Kilborn show. I used to watch him all the time too and then he just disappeared. I missed him. But, don’t tell anyone I have secretly been in love with David Letterman for the last 40+ years, and always will be! 😂😂😂😎💖💖💖
@@js2010ish "was" as sharp as a tack. Sadly. I know she was old, and it was her time, but EVERYONE adored her, as did I. The world is so much dimmer without her in it.
Love watching his interviews. I worked 3p to 11:30p in the 70s and 80s so Tom Snyder was always the one who helped me wind down after a hard day at work.
