Actually the original Office was inspired by Spinal Tap, which was American. I mean one of them had a British parent but that’s not the same as being British obviously. I think it mostly just helped him do the accent.

Her last name is actually pronounced Tron, with a roll of the R. She adapted it to Th-e-ron because folks had problems pronouncing it.

I think she was telling the truth about the dog because as a veterinary technician I'm quite familiar with canine leishmaniasis and it's totally a real and very unpleasant thing. She's a great actor but to just come up with leishmaniasis off the dome would be mind-blowing improv.

I do want to just point out that Zach Galifinakas has been doing Awkward Humor like this long before The Office was a thing. That's just his comedy style. I think he did become a lot more popular though after The Office became successful with Awkward Humor as his career then got a lot bigger. More people understood what he was doing on stage and in movies.

Galifianakis has been doing awkward humor since the 90's as well as movies before the Office ever came out but he didn't become famous until awkward humor hit the states with the likes of The Office and other shows that became super popular and in return Zach's comedy career took off cause people were more interested in that type of comedy.

I believe Between Two Ferns took its concept from a show that Frank “The Tank” Fleming, who currently work for Barstool Sports, had back in the day called “Extra Innings”. The set and awkwardness are very similar.

These are all scripted, of course, but you've got great actors who make them look off the cuff. Many great episodes. Cardi B, Seinfeld, Natalie Portman, Justin Bieber are some good ones.
