Being an older American than the group interviewed, I would never have said the music isnt good. Some of The best rock groups came from there.

I am from Chicago, like many other great Cities the diversity is incredible. What a great place to meet wonderful people. I love England. My grandmother is from Manchester. I grew up on Benny Hill (I miss), Fawlty Towers, Monty Python and Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce (the true Sherlock and Watson, although Benedict does a great job. I travel to Nottingham for my job 2 times a year. I love the scenery of the country. You guys do a great job

I love The UK: I’ve visited 4 different times and did the usual tourist stuff. The nice thing was that we stayed in one place for several days and then took the the tube and train for further destinations. I felt the people outside of London were nice enough and helpful. Once we got lost in York and a old gentleman walked us all the way back to our hotel.

Ugh. I wish he actually spoke to loads more people. It’s just a conversation with a handful who’ve never been and they have no idea what to say really.

I've never been to England, but I would like to go someday. Unfortunately, most of my interactions with the English have been on the internet - in forums - and the people have seemed pretty hateful of Americans. So, I don't really think I'd be welcomed there.

What do Americans think of England? That's simple...we dont.

I lived in England for 3 years as a teenager, and really enjoyed my time there. When I first arrived everyone could tell I was American because of my accent. If someone got upset with me, I'd occasionally get called a "bloody Yank!". It never had the effect they intended. That is NOT an insult to an American, and it always made me laugh. Kids quickly adopt accents, and by my second year in England my accent was just like my schoolmates and new people I met wouldn't believe I was American. I lived in a tiny village (pop. 300) in the Cotswolds, and commuted to school in Cheltenham. My dad worked there, attached to GCHQ. I'll tell you one thing I learned about the English (and probably Brits in general) that Americans generally don't know. In America we don't like snitches (grassers) but it doesn't come anywhere CLOSE to how the English feel about them. Grassers rank below thieves that also exhibit all seven deadly sins, and it is a visceral hate. Luckily for me I didn't learn that lesson by snitching on anyone, I just observed it in action. People who get a reputation as a grasser might as well change schools, because nobody will associate with them. And that was at a Public School (what Americans would call a private school). I'd imagine it would be even worse at a regular school.

That "teeth" stereotype is outdated by at least 3 generations. As an American, I cringe when I hear it. 😖

I've only been to the UK once when I was a kid. We were there for almost a month and it only rained once. Everyone was calling it a "scorcher" but it was much cooler than usual for us, maybe 80. It's a beautiful country, most people were super nice, but the percentage of straight up rude people was much higher than anywhere else I've been.

Midwest here. I think of England as: that uncle you see a couple times a year. He is very proper, and serious. He's been building his retirement plan since he was 25. House like a museum... Your aunt asks, "you ever see pics of your uncle when he was young, in a rock band, long hair, leather pants and everything?" Uncle goes "yeah, lets not talk about those days." Australia, their son, came from money but is rebellious, wild, drinks, parties, piercings. You really wanna party with your cousin, Australia but afraid to at same time. Your uncle England is like, "don't encourage him." USA is somewhere in the middle but is like, "hey, we're all family."

And old white lady with a walking stick called my mother 'Nigga, Nigga, Nigga' when we were walking through Manchester. Apart from that the I really enjoyed site seeing, and i loved the historical buildings. The environment was really clean. The country side is really beautiful the pubs are great too 🥰

I'm of English ancestry and would love to visit. And the folks on the video were very wrong about English music. Judas Priest and Iron Maiden are two of my very favorite bands. Enough said.

Ive been to England and Scotland. I loved both countries, and the people.

Interestingly foot traffic in place also tends to follow road traffic. Here the saying is “keep to right” and the right side of the escalator is for those in a hurry while the left side is for standing.

I live in the US, I look at it as we’re both pretty much the same just the accent is different, like as if I traveled down south or something.

They were polite, tried to be as open as they could even though they fully admitted they don't know much about England like....they weren't cringe at all. The tall girl with the blue shirt - I think she was just nervous lol. "She talks a lot" honestly saw it just as anxious rambling ~

While in the Army, stationed in Turkey, a buddy's father bought him a Jaguar XKE set-up to drive in the USA, we picked it up in London and driving around was quite an experience. As a passenger, my judgement as to when to pass another vehicle, was put to the test. Had a great time and we drove down to Southampton and he shipped the Jag on the last voyage of the Queen Mary(the one currently berthed in Long Beach) in 1967.

My dad and grandma are Caribbean Brits and still have family there. I never been but I imagine it’s an even bougier NY lol. And they love tea. My God 😂

I have friends in the UK that I have visited at least 3 times. I went to very few tourist sites but went to friends homes, their favorite shops and restaurants. My impressions: they’re more reserved (I’d say hi and they’d look at me like I’m weird), they’re helpful when asked but generally they are like us. Proud of their country and concerned about their children, etc. They’re supportive of America and still thankful to the US for our role in WWII.

I’ve visited several times. Always fun. Great people. 👍🇬🇧🇺🇸

Saw a meme once that summed up England. Said how Americans view England and it was a picture of Downtown Abbey. The how Europeans view England and it was a picture of a shirtless fat drunk white guy passed out on the street corner.

I just love the way the brits say Aa-lu-mini-um and Jag-u-ire. Also, you guys know how big America is, You could do this interview in 50 different states and get 50 different attitudes. I think all Americans have a fondness of brits because we share a language and a lot of culture. That whole WW2 thing made the bond even stronger, but we do like to tease you with the fact we beat your butts back across the pond 245 years ago.

Hi Blokes. When I visited the UK, we took the Victoria line to Hastings, my sister and I were amazed that everyone walks around In Elizabeth-in clothes for tourists. It was not the case at all, of all days to visit Hastings happened to be the 400th Anniversary of the Spanish Armada and they were going to like the coast in bonfires in celebration. One of the most amazing days of my life. I just wanted to share , Cheers 🎉

My son's father's family is from England. When I first met them, I thought they were very cold, but after getting to know them I found that they weren't cold at all. They're just quieter about their affection for others. Also, I am totally a meat & potatoes girl & they made some amazing food! They're similar to Americans, we're just louder & more expressive about things IMO.

Let's me put it this way, this American has watched, so many Brittish series over and over again that i pronounce some words the British way, like aluminium. Also I've watched so many UK series that i pretty much understand nearly every single British slang term. Personally i love England and it's history, especially during the Napoleonic War era. My grandfather fought in wwii he loved the english said they were good soldiers but stopped for tea a bit too much.

I am of Irish decent, my daughter lives in the UK and being born in the USA I love the English We will always be family. If they would have spoken to older people about music, they would have heard of Led Zeppelin, the greatest rock band of all time. along with many many bands from England. The British band music if intertwined with all the rock music I grew up with and still love today. Love across the pond!

I think about like English country side, quaint little towns, cottage gardens, tudor architecture, Shakespeare, etc.

I studied abroad in London long ago and I really miss it. I want to see so much more of the whole country and isles. But then I'm very very British (all over) in heritage.

I love England! I only got to go once when I was only 17 and I've been dying to go back. I saw The Phantom of the Opera and we got to take a train to Princess Diana's childhood home and there's so much history. Negative- it really freaked me out that the floors in your Churches are headstones. I was always taught it was disrespectful to walk in someone's grave, so I was very uncomfortable. Your driving is also scary.

Brits talk faster than I can hear (understand). Young Americans talk fast now. I'm glad their our ally. I'm also 70/yrs. old. Most the actors in Hellyweird are now Brits!

Florida is definitely not the laughing stock of the US. I can think of a few other states that would be on that list over Florida.

My father moved to the US from the UK in the 80's and hadn't gone back up until a few years ago when we went to visit his sick mother. He was so shocked to see what it has turned into and says he will never move back.

I love England and the English. There is so much about England that my life is entangled with intellectually. The overall history (The Royal Navy of the late 1700's and early 1800's specifically), the accent, the countryside, London, the Beatles, the Stones, and the rest of the "English Invasion" of the '60's. I could go on for quite a while, the beautiful women, the funny comedians, etc. etc. but I'll end up with our greatest ally and friend.

Traveled to London in late May a few years back. Spent a lot of time in the city parks during a stretch of beautiful weather. The trees waged an absolute war on my sinuses. Otherwise lovely.

It's hilarious to watch this. I'm about to turn 50 and I remember thinking that only the States and Africa had Black people when I was growing up. I think I was 11 or 12 when MTV started and I saw Downtown Judy Brown (English) and Terence Trent D'Arby (French) and I'm staring at these two Black people with a British and French accent - I was blown a-way! LOL Looking back it's such a ridiculous notion, but it's very telling in how much of an impact the media has on peoples' views. Thanks for doing this, guys! Cheers!

I think the reaction to Big Ben is because it is always mentioned in songs and talking about England - and then you see it and in your own mind it was bigger -- I've heard UK interviews say the Statue of Liberty was a lot smaller than they thought.....pics make it look huge -- now it isn't small - but I can see where from movies and pictures it appears much larger than it is....that's all....

On cuisine in London, when I was there ~12 years ago, it was the best & most Indian restaurants outside India.

I spent 10 days in Europe. The Englishmen I met said to me “it’s not a proper English night out, if the night doesn’t end in a brawl”

When I think of England I think of how i could move there and how i could “Americanize” my living situation. Such as adding central air, window screens, laundry room/closet, walk-in closets, back yard, grill pit, etc etc. Of course i think of crappy weather (I live in San Diego), bad customer service, bunch of history lessons and sites, ease of travel between countries, great public transit systems, no sales tax, and possibly a true melting pot of nationalities.

We stopped in London on our way to Turkey for a NATO exercise in 1992, we stayed on the plane for security reasons and actually received hazardous duty pay cause the IRA was still "active"...4 hours then off to Germany.

He's made a followup video in another city, where he does get to interview more older people. Definitely work checking that one out. Also, he's made two about what do the English think about Americans.

I feel like he might have had a few more interesting responses if he asked a few more older people. Many people like me had gradparents who their parents were from England and adopted many of the British customs. My grandmother definitely enjoyed her cupa tea with a scone or something or other... she was definitely much more reserved/proper/polite in general. She also was insistant on making her home much more cozy as apposed to many Americains who go all out cold/modern decor (she hated those big bulky couches everyone gets). I havent been to the UK yet, but I always think of Cornation Street. My grandmother and uncle watched it for decades. Her place could fit right in to one of their sets. So much good music comes out of the UK too (historically).

I lived in the UK (Oxford) for a bit. Negatives: The people are stuck up. The beer is flat af. The weather is garbage. Pros: The food is legit. 18 drinking age makes sense. The history & architecture.

All of the Brits that I've met in the States have that sharp edged New Yorker, don't mess with me vibe, only with an accent and better education. They also seem to know American movies and music a lot better than most Americans. To tell you the truth I love having conversations with them because they are quick with the put-down and with a bon mot, laugh a lot, and don't take shit too personally or out of context. Also they are less full of shit than a lot of Americans. Bullshitting- The American past time.
