Originally, Sylvester Stallone was cast as Axel Foley but he wanted it to be a more serious action movie. He left and they hired on Eddie Murphy and they made a true classic. Sylvester Stallone made his own version and called it “Cobra”. They make a reference to it in Beverly Hills Cop 2 as “Billy” has a Cobra movie poster in his bedroom 😂

Gilbert R. Hill, the actor who played Axel's boss in Detroit, was a real detective at the Detroit Police Department and later served on the City Council. He was basically a real-life Axel Foley. He later said that the only real difference between himself and the character he played in this movie was that he didn't cuss that much.

I live next to the house he used to live in. There's only 5 homes left standing on the block. His turned into an abando then a drug house two years ago until it was raided last April. I turned the electric on illegally for them...I just asked that they watch my home while I'm gone. I climbed the pole and ran a line to the meter then used butter knives to jump it. My home has had free electric for 3 years now lol

You left out all the parts about how corrupt he was. He even hired a hitman to kill a drug dealer who was going to turn state's evidence and squeal on Hill's corruption.

If Maitland had just acted like a human being when Axel first confronted him he would have basically stone walled him in the investigation. Instead he not only has him thrown out, but thrown out a window. Now Axel is positive he's behind it. Maitland kind of makes the worst decisions every time he deals with Axel.

Hey, Devin. Give the BH Police Chief a bit of a break. It’s his job to make sure that the police conduct investigations legally. Considering the community, if a mistake is made a citizen can afford a lawyer to sue the Department, and it also puts cases at risk of not being able to prosecute. Everything Axel was doing was illegal. The Chief had good cause to distrust Foley and question his version of events. But all of that is what makes this an awesome film. :-)

A stack of bearer bonds like that was probably millions of dollars, not just a couple hundred grand.. Although for lower-middle class people all that money starts to look the same (More than I will ever see) it's worth to remember what those extra zeros actually represent to the people rich enough to tell the difference.. A person with 10 Billion dollars can look down on a person that has 10 Million the same way the person with 10 Million looks down on a person on welfare! Because that's how massive of a difference those couple extra zeros actually amounts to!! A person with millions can have all the luxuries they want and be a social media influencer. A person with billions can Own the social media and control what people are influenced BY! Once a person has Billions, it's not about collecting luxuries, it's about amassing power and influence
