If you like grandmothers that are as grand as they are UNMOTHERLY, then you'll love this full movie reaction to the third installment of Paranormal Activity! Even as the credits roll, I'm not sure if this is the movie I had in mind...
“You’ll end up like mom” Is what Katie told Kristie in the second movie when she was getting paranoid about the demon’s presence, suggesting they think their mom went crazy and killed herself
If I remember correctly, Micah joked about not wanting to invite Katie’s mom in the first movie. And (Spoilers if you haven’t watched Ghost Dimension) in Ghost Dimension I think there’s a footage that the protagonist watches of little Katie and Kristie doing something with a completely different woman that they call “mom” instead. I feel like they were mostly implying that the coven brainwashed Katie and Kristie and completely altered their memories about their family, but personally I would’ve went with yours if I were a writer for this franchise 😭
As for the lore, when Katie and Kristi reach the age where they’re old enough to have children themselves, the coven are able to wipe their memories and implant fake ones. Dennis mentions it briefly when he and Julie are arguing, but it’s really easy to miss!
We were in the theater and at a critical moment someone shouted out: "THAT AIN'T KATY" and everyone busted out laughing. So every time I watched these movies I can't help but think "THAT AIN'T KATY." Good memories.
One thing I really appreciate about these movies is there is a logical reason for the protagonists to be filming. Kristi's family installs cameras in PA2 after a break-in. We see that Micha gets the camera bug after visiting them, which explains why he so eagerly goes out and buys a camera when things start happening in PA1. And in PA3, Dennis is a videographer so it makes sense that he would have all the camera equipment around when things start happening. It's a small thing, but I really like that they take the time to give that context.
That scene with Randy and Katie in the bathroom felt so real. I have had to keep my calm, or try to keep my calm, when something scary was happening and I had a kid in front of me freaking out. He did the right thing by putting her first and reassuring her that everything was going to be okay. And of course he was scared, who wouldn't be after getting scratched up by something they couldn't see. Even him saying that the scratch was nothing was him being the adult in the situation and trying to stay calm for the kid
I think the actor playing Randy did an amazing job of “I’m terrified but pretending everything’s fine for the kid I have to protect.” You’re right, it felt really real.
This is my favorite one of the franchise. Dennis was such a breath of fresh air compared to the other guys and I really liked the relationships. The way Kristie said he was “really sweet” made it so much sadder how it ended up
I’m 11 minutes in and she’s found a way to make him sound bad already. Alanda is very tough on male characters lol - anything they do is the wrong thing to do
@@jboao your comment was written in way more of a disrespectful way than my opinion, especially written as a response to someone else’s surprise at her reaction towards a character. It’s not that serious lol If my opinion is that controversial, maybe there’s truth to it? Alanda is hilarious and a breath of fresh air on RU-vid, but she does not give male characters the same benefit of the doubt that she hands female characters. Men earn her trust, women earn her distrust.
Dennis is actually my favorite male character in this series (until The Marked Ones) because he is the one that believes something is happening despite mom's denial and is shown genuinely caring about the girls. As for decor -- they nailed the 80s in this one for sure!
I agree wholeheartedly. I feel like Alanda was giving mom a hardcore pass for having the same energy as the previous husband/boyfriends, yet was trying so hard to make Dennis the villain. He was the best partner we’ve had so far and it’s sad cus he wasn’t even engaged or married into the family. Poor man died protecting someone that ain’t even blood.

They were both insufferable and stupid and she called both of them out on their foolishness multiple times, Dennis literally showed his friend their sex tape even though the mother asked for it to be deleted, that's literally illegal. So Dennis isn't a saint just because you like him and because he's a man.
Dennis is the best of the boyfriends/ partners in the series but that’s only because the bar is SO LOW 😭. If he was the first boyfriend we met and we didn’t already know that filming the demon/ trying to communicate with it was the source of its increased disturbance, then I would have been able to like him more. But this is the third movie and we know he’s the one making the situation worse. Also his insistence on not telling the mom as stuff got worse FOR HER KIDS is insane to me. I was disgusted sorry. The mom is also dumb as hell and I said so💀

Even when a female character is trash she doesn't have the same energy of dislike like she does the male characters. And always wants the male characters to die for the women and children. Even in this one she wanted Dennis to go out and be sacrificed so the female characters could survive even though he has nothing to do with the family he's just the BF
the old lady cult at the end literally sent my best friend running out of the movie theater and i watched the last few minutes alone 💀 this is my fave in the series though!
Seeing this in theaters back in 2011 was an amazing experience. The Marked Ones is my other favorite PA movie. Can't wait to see more of your reactions.
Maybe both my standards and the standards for the franchise were different, but I was gagged you were so mean to Dennis and Randy because at least comparatively, I thought they were the best men we've seen in the franchise si'dfgb'dfiosgbod'i So basically, the grandma was wanting Julie (who she didn't even view as her daughter, much less a person) to have another baby so it could hopefully be a boy. "Toby" started getting close to Kristi, and that moment at night when he's trapped Kristi in the closet, Kristi says "I'll do it", meaning that she promises to be the one to give Toby a son. And well, mission accomplished!
Alanda: Your back hurts? You need to toughen up. There's a demon coming. Me knowing Dennis' fate: 👀😭 So we finally get the demon's name. TOBEY! The first time my sister and I saw the earthquake and saw the dust, I almost died when I realize how big the demon was. With the chicken foot prints from the first movie, I didn't think it was THAT big 😭. I do like how each movie adds another technique for getting shots. First, it was just the one stand still camera. Then the security camera with the pro camera. The use of the fan with the camera in this one was such a genius touch. It adds an extra layer of tension to the shot. The scene with the babysitter and the bedsheet was so chilling. The jumpscare that never fails make me jumo no matter how much I'd brace and anticipate it is the mom with the mask in the closet. My sister & I'd watch this movie all the time, at least once a month, and I'd still jump 😭. That and Dennis turning on that light, face to face with the old lady coven 🫠. They cast young Katie & Kris very well, and both actress did great. Kris' interactions with Tobey was so well do for a young actress that acting against nothing that actually there, and playing the creepy sibling was well done, especially since she seemed like the more sweeter & sensitive of the two. Katie's always getting possessed and flinging people at the end, even in her youth 😆😭. That Bloody Mary scene made Katie a believer and had Randy running (he did try to reassure and even though he was clearly terrified). Tobey was getting active in this movie lol... Tobey was already making nice with Kris in the beginning. Did you notice that Katie's picture day dress is the same as the burnt photo that was lost in a fire (that ended up in Kris house that her husband burns and later ended up in Katie's attic). So, when Kris broke off her friendship with Tobey, he started targeting Katie to get Kris to comply (Tobey was giving Katie hell, wasn't ). It's interesting that in this one, it was Kris that told Katie to "just ignore it", when in the second movie, it was Katie saying it to Kris. When it dragged Katie and locked her in, Kris said, "Let her go! I'll do it!" Tobey was trying to get Kris to convince their mom to take them to grandma's house. When the mom said "no", Tobey tore that kitchen up. Grandma was trying to marry Kris off to Tobey in that play wedding at grandma's 😫. I actually don't know if the mom is dead or not. In the first movie, the psychic told then that it feeds off negative energy, Micah made a joke about not inviting Katie's mom over anymore. In the second one, Kris was trying to talk to Katie about what happened when they were kids, and Katie told her to stop or she'd "end up like mom". So, I assume that either the mom died the grandmother raised the kids as her own (would explain the negative energy), or that perhaps their mother was deemed severely "mentally ill", perhaps institutionalized at some point, leading to girls having to stay with their grandmother for long periods of time, but she's still alive (which would explain Katie's comment in the second film). Now, that I think about it, Katie mentioned a "Grandma's Lois" passing away in the beginning about where she got the tapes, so I'm assuming it's their grandma because who else would that they'd deem as their grandmother that it'd get stolen. I actually felt bad for Dennis. He wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, and clearly much more broke than the other two guys, but compared to Mr. "Watch Me Antagonize The Demon The Whole Time" and Mr. "I'm Going To Dismiss Everything Until It's Too Late", Dennis actually seemed genuinely nice. He did seem to care about the daughters and interacted very well with them. He wasn't patronizing or anything. He waited too long for him to show his girlfriend the footage and telling her everything that was going on, and starting with "...the coven..." story was not the brightest idea 🤦🏾♀️, but he did seem actually sweet lol. It was also a nice change to have the boyfriend be the believer and the woman be the naysayer this time. I mean, the outcome ended up the same, but a nice change lol. Great reaction (your hair looks amazing btw) and can't wait for FD3...

It's so lovely to sit down and watch a movie with you again! If you ever need a horror movie that's a little more camp and funny, Thir13en Ghosts is my favorite, but you'll want to blur/crop out one very specific lady ghost while you're watching.
Alanda, I am a 41 year old woman, and if anyone around me tried to do Bloody Mary I would punch them in the face! I was waiting to see your reaction to the sheet ghost falling down, and it did not disappoint! 😅 There was a collective gasp in my theater! The oscillating fan is my favorite camera trick in the series. And I'll just throw in that you can totally skip the Rob Zombie Halloween sequel here.
I feel like in the 80s a lot of people would make home videos, my family have a bunch from that time because my grandpa got a new video camera and it’s just them chilling in the house 🤣

He's a cassette player and would talk/read the stories that it plays, so no washer machine for him... probably a rag, soap, and water. That was one of our favorite toys in the 80s. This was my first paranormal activity movie and what a way to traumatize my 3rd grade self. This scared tf out of me as a kid to the point I barely rewatched it for the first time in years a couple of months ago and it still scared me💀. I love this movie now as an adult it’s my favorite of the franchise and imo the scariest of the franchise. My uncle put this on for my cousins and I in the dark, we were screaming like crazy. Ah fond memories if I do say so myself lol. The boyfriend was kinda hot.
paranormal activity lore is next level, everything connects, even having diff universes collide, i commend them for creating so many parallels/callbacks to other ones ! also alanda, i'm shocked you haven't reacted to *"SINISTER"* (2012) yet. it's one of my fave more modern scary films, i'm pretty desensitized to horror but it just hits differently. i jumped during one part when i saw it in theaters 😭i think you may like it. not sure if you'll see this, figured i'd try since you're indeed one of my most beloved horror reactors 🫧🩷

1) when it ends and the screen goes fuzzy, there is ONE FRAME of the the girl’s parents bedroom on fire (remember in the previous ones, they said there was a house fire) 2) part 4 is sadly disappointing & really confusing. Raises more questions that never get answered 3) part 5, The Marked Ones is actually GREAT and underrated. Kind of a separate story, kind of connected. Do NOT let anyone spoil its ending. 🤯🤯🤯🤯

Imagine, it's 3AM and you're sleeping peacefully... then a dark haired, skinny 8-year-old girl looms over you bleeding. I was an absolute menace! 😂 They were so happy when I got those pesky blood vessels cauterized. I love your reactions so much! They always make me day! When I married my ex she had 2 daughters about these ages that I so thankfully was able to adopt the same week my baby daughter was born and the oldest would sleep walk and the younger had horrible night terrors (bless her heart) so I experinced as a new dad a lot of things that really hit home in this. In fact my first of 2 sleep paralysis experiences in my entire life happened right after my baby was born . A LOT of paranormal stuff went on in the 6 years we were together , now as a divorced dad of 3 awesome daughters it’s died down, not sure if it was where we lived or something with my ex but seems to have stayed away. I LOVE these!! Ps I hope you do at least the 4th movie and Next of Kin isn’t really related but a fun movie.
I saw this in the theatre me and three strangers gave each other the please be quiet and let me enjoy this look. When everything fell in that kitchen we pretty much high fived each other. It was an experience.

I’m genuinely surprised we got it this quickly. Must have some free time lately. But the second Halloween is a totally different from the 2007 one. It dives deeper into ptsd and mental health.
@@AlandaParkerthe second Halloween is surprisingly less… gory than the other and it also has much less nudity. The director’s cut for Halloween 2 doesn’t contain any cut scenes of depravity, but instead has Laurie and Loomis going through intense personality changes. The theatrical cut aims to keep Laurie as likeable but hurting, while the director’s cut makes much more bold choices with her and there’s a lot more devastating scenes with Laurie in therapy. So if it’s any recommendation, the grim sadness of Halloween 2 is more connected to the characters and their emotions, with less emphasis on hateful characters. Annie and Sheriff Brackett are a surprisingly strong emotional anchor for the film.
