Chances are the last time you ordered fish in a restaurant or a seafood shop, you were served "fake fish." That is, fish that has been mislabeled. Food author Larry Olmsted explains why seafood in particular lends itself to fraud on Lunch Break with Tanya Rivero. Photo: Getty

My question is that how can we trust what we eat from these sources if there's been major crude oil spills that have poisoned the marine life in those areas over the years? Salmon is a another big consumer product that has been faked through american fish farms, they feed fish pellets with coloring to give the flesh that orange color, It's getting to the point in where people are gonna have to either travel to eat healthy fish or catch them themselves and send samples out to be tested just to make sure they're safe to eat, or did everyone forget about all the tons of radioactive water that was leaked into the ocean when the Fukushima nuclear power plant had a melt down? and for some of you who Think I'm crazy the radiation hit San Francisco, but no one talked about it.Look it up

Grow your own. The future is sinister. Gooberment will make people completely dependant upon them for food. Most people today don't know a thing about gardening. Not to mention how to even catch a fish.

I love red snapper ... I know even a lot of Chinese restaurants. If you order the red snapper or sushi with red snapper. MOST likely it’s not ...

I live somewhere in south east Asia, a place where a lot of fishes in the red snapper family originate Red snapper is from the fish family called Lutjanus The problem is, under the family of Lutjanus, there are quite a few variants that look like the classic red snapper The real+actual red snapper as recognized by the FDA Is called Lutjanus malabar However, there are a few type fishes under the Lutjanus family which looks really similar to Lutjanus malabar...all of them are red in color, with almost the same body shape And also, they taste exactly the same, if not, very similar However, when we sell these so called “red snapper” in whole (not cut up into pieces) to countries like Europe/US, a lot of it is labeled as fake fish ... But the reality is, they all belong to the same family, red in color, almost the same in body shape, all wild caught, and all of them aren’t cheap fish like tilapia... Up till today, I don’t even know what the real red snapper tastes like/look like because there are quite a few fishes which look exactly like the classic red snapper and they all belong to the same family
