Hello fellow Kelly! Yeah... same in Lancashire where I'm from.... it's peculiarly northern it seems isn't it. I grew up near Boggart Hole Clough and I was fascinated by that whole story and the Boggarts from such a young age. I find it very interesting that the folklore of Faerie folk in Lancs and Yorks is just that bit darker, a bit more sinister. Maybe because of the darker landscapes? I have a local Boggart. On the Longridge Fell toward Jeffrey Hill. He lives on the road and has been known to harrass those who journey past. But I carry biscuits and leave them under hedges. But I have a salt bag too!
Brilliant... I love boggart stories. I think because I was brought up so close to Boggart Hole Clough. Their folklore always stayed with me. Even when I left that house the local kids still were warned about the Boggart at the Clough, and he was blamed for turning milk sour
Great video! Out of curiosity though, do you know if a brownie or hobgoblin that has become a boggart can be turned back? Have you heard any mention of that before?
Hi there, thanks for your comment. No I have never heard of that happening, I've never found anything in the folklore sources that talk about that. It's an interesting thought though... :)
From what I understand from both folklore and eyewitness accounts they can take any form they wish so maybe if gifts are given, reparations made, they might reform themselves (literally!)
Hello from ulverston 😁 Barrow born and bread Norse pegan Recently been opening up alot to the hidden world living around us I opened up my house (you will understand) I belive I have been getting visited by a boggart 2 nights now Play with my ferrets, I hear him scuttling around my house he's also very curious about me I feel him following me at night, I got clarification when he shut the child saftey gate, done it twice. I don't feel he's aggressive, I actualy feel comfortable with him and welcome him I'm going to leave him some honey and oats when I go to bed I'm here learning more about them as I don't want to upset him or drive him away
I think that is a wise thing. For me and my husband it is about a quiet mutual respect with our unseen visitors and good neighbours. That way we can all live in harmony. I've never felt the folk as a negative, but definitely to be respected :)
