Before there was Blache Deveraux and her fashion. There was Agnes Moorehead. I loved how Endora proved fashion knows no age. She always wore something that said she had fashion.
I always thought of Blanche Devereaux as Blanche DuBois from ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’, imagining that her mental illness had been successfully treated.
Elizabeth! A dream she was. Her mannerisms perfect. Loving! & Sweet. Loyal to Family. Honest! Humane. And loved everyone. Good job for Agnes Moorehead. A beautiful woman. Paul Lynden. MAY God look out for you. Maurice, kind man. And the rest all good.
Both Maurice Evans and Agnes Moorehead made their reputations in the legitimate theater, playing in both classical drama , comedy, even musicals by the greatest of dramatists like Shakespeare, Aescalyus, Bernard Shaw. Behrman, etc. The only difference between the two, was one did it on the West End, the other on Broadway. You can see that training and background in their performances of these two perfectly if broadly created characters.
@@qumaralam46 they were not there in previous seasons. The design changed several times and didn't make sense has in some. Sort of like the kitchen closet and little Ricky's bedroom on I love Lucy.
The set and house design were the same until the end of the 6th season. Then it caught fire and was destroyed, so when they rebuilt it, they added the staircase in the kitchen, and the breakfast room off the kitchen. That's why part of the beginning of that season they were filming in Salem, Massachusetts., while the new set was rebuilt.
I remember the episode..where "Sam,Darren,Endora and Maurice"are trying to find the right name for "Sam's"second child..when they find out it's going to be a boy.."Maurice"considers call him "Adam".."Why my father's name was Adam".."Darren"is shocked and replies"Your Father was ADAM" And "Maurice"equally shocked at the vulgar thought that "Darren"thinks that his grandfather is named after the biblical character"Not That Adam!". (LOL!)..I still get a laugh from that type of dialogue.
One thing about this season 8 it was the last season before it went off the air I was so sad and I watch reruns after that because I always love Bewitched and I still do
@@1223steffen Paul Lynde had his own show during the last season of Bewitched. Therefore he wasn't in any episodes that season. I don't know why there were no episodes with either Gladys or Abner Kravitz in them that last year.
They should've made a spin off with Samantha's family: Endora, Maurice, Serena, Uncle Arthur, etc. It would've made the Adams family look like the Brady Bunch.
And as she always said that she wanted to do things in the "mortal way.". Besides, if she didnt there wouldn't be a show or premise to work from. That "ying and yang if you will. Or power struggle! Pardon the expression! Lol!
It’s for TV- anyone would love to be married to someone with magic powers. You would never have to work and could be wealthy (magically create money) and travel and do whatever you want! U wouldn’t even have to take an airplane- just wiggle nose.
@Cheetah Panther Get stuffed-who says that expression? Bottom line was she loved Durwood. When you love someone there was compromising and you give up a lot...even magic. The moral of the story is nothing is easy and real life is hard. Maybe she became saved and she started going to church.
I love Bewitched still miss Elizabeth Montgomery and the rest of the cast so glad we still have Erin Murphy, David Lawrence, and Janine Gray(Maurice's secretary)
coolsweetgroovy Thanks to that great cast Bewitched really was awesome! Especially Dick York and Elizabeth Montgomery! I just adore them! Thankfully I have the complete series on DVD! I never get tired of watching it! Bewitched forever!
K. Anderson It was part of her personal wardrobe. 🙌🏻 supporting actresses had to use their own clothes so everything you see her wear was right out of her own closet
Poor Darrin. They never get his name right. The funniest one was dolphin. Well I guess it was for comedy. Sometimes in-laws can be difficult. Fortunately, I never had that problem. Let's just say they put the fun in Dysfunctional that family.
As I do when I take off my hat, you make a good point. Dick York was a much funnier Darrin than Dick Sargent. Mr Sargent did his best but he just didn't have the comedic chops Mr York did !!
this Maurice behaves like someone who is suffering from mania... the way he speaks, the grandiosity... dramatic, theatrical,... starting 00:30 ... and Endora's reaction... wonderful :D
Andre Godfrey True but I was a youngster and just went with it . I remember one episode where they were all in a castle in England and Darrin was possessed by a horny old ghost . The writing was good and Sargent nailed it with a hilarious performance . Yes they had to adjust a little with Sargent’s less animated Darrin but I thought it was serviceable.
Francis Mercado Yes. I knew that. It's all a matter of opinion. I just think Sargent's Darrin was/is too deadpan for my taste. Let's just put it this way, Dick Sargent tried to play Darrin but failed miserably. Again only my opinion.
@@anitastodolak9882 That may be your opinion. But I TOTALLY agree with it !! Dick Sargent tried his best but he just didn't have the goofy & zany aspects of Darrin that Dick York was able to bring to the role. If someone prefers Dick Sargent in the role, I respect their viewpoint. But I prefer Dick York !!
I've heard this before and I disagree. Maurice Evans portrayed an exaggerated personification of himself: He was known as the last of the "Singing Actors". In no way do I see ANY of Robert Montgomery in Evans. They're as different from each other other as a Ford from a BMW.
Eliz manages to look stunning even in hideous early 70s clothes. I think the style of the new Darrin helped to pull the show into the new decade actually.
Yes Dick Sargent was basically in a pinch hitting situation when he took over for the ailing York. A lot of people dump on him but i thought he was okay. Yes York was better but there were a few epsodes where the writers stepped it up and Dick Sargent nailed the material
A lot of people don't know that Sergeant was the one they originally wanted for Darrin but he was unavailable at the time so they chose York. When York could no longer play the role Sergeant took over.
Maurice was on 2 episodes of Planet of the Apes. Agnes Moorehead she was nuclear exposure while making a movie in 1950s called the Conqueror. When an atomic bomb was dropped in the borders of Utah and Nevada desert. She died of ovarian and breast cancer. Along with John Wayne aka the Duke and Susan Hayward.
What's not to love about Elizabeth Montgomery? Absolutely nothing. Beautiful. Blonde with blue eyes. Lovely complexion and smile. Nice body. Short dresses. Great legs. IF she's not female perfection then she's as close as it gets. Bar none.
Absolutely! To me she was and is the most beautiful and talented actress to ever walk the planet! I literally sobbed when she died! She was and is the Mom I've always wanted growing up. Watching her on Bewitched got me through a rough childhood. May she rest in peace
Elizabeth's eyes were green, almost emerald. The rings that she wore were hers and were emeralds. She was a beautiful woman, but most of all, she was a beautiful person. There is so much Samantha in Elizabeth. In other words, Samantha IS Elizabeth. ❤
Those green cabinets were a bit much. I'm surprised I didn't notice back in the 1970s. The "house" had so many oddities, like the fireplace and hearth changing three times overall. And of course that kitchen staircase that never existed, then suddenly appeared.
if so yes they are fake. at times little Tabatha has to go upstairs to her room. using those stairs. i read she had to climb them but they did not lead to anywhere. she has to stand there at the top of the stairs until the scene was over then she came back down.
They are tiny. They look more like a plant stand. I know they were using all the colors in the colonial wallpaper, but the cabinets would have looked better painted white.
In this season of Bewitched, Elizabeth Montgomery looked more like a girlfriend & less like a mother to my teenaged frustrations. She looked so beautiful with the longer hair and the "mod" wardrobe! Holy shit Batman! I want the TV witch!
The UK broadcast these about 15 years ago, but not as late as the '70s episodes. This looks a lot different on VTR compared to the earlier filmed ones. The quality looks more Diff'rent Strokes.
tvmoviefan By the looks of Elizabeth's hairstyle in this scene I would guess this is around 1972 or 71. So in that case she would be 39. And yes she have kids 3 in fact. Bill Asher Jr. (1964) Robert Asher (1965.) and Rebecca Asher (1969) All with her then husband and director Bill Asher. As you probably have guessed by now, I'm a MEGA FAN of Elizabeth Montgomery and Bewitched! I just adore her! I have the complete box set of Bewitched. So I consider myself an "authority" on her. And I can usually tell what year it is based on her hairstyles. There were a lot of them! Lol! I hope that helps.
Understood! Nothing better than talking with someone who knows it. I like to think I am an expert on my shows as well but this was not one of them. Have not seen Bewitched regularly in about 30 years. I knew she had 3 children and some of her pregnancies were written into the show and she was married to someone involved in the show. Lucky guy! What a class lady! She was gone too soon!
tvmoviefan. That is soooooooo true! I just adore her! I looked up to her as a mother figure. I didn't have such a great childhood so watching Elizabeth was like an escape for me. I was heartbroken when she died! I remember saying, "Oh my God! Samantha died!" Thank God for Utube and DVDS! Elizabeth will live on forever! God bless her sweet and loving soul! I'm glad that I could be of help answering your questions. Bewitched forever!
The way I felt about Bill Bixby who was like a father figure to me because I grew up without mine. First celebrity who died and made me shed a tear. The Hulk was my show because the small man's raging beast stood up to the bullies and the evil out there. RIP! Elizabeth and Bill Bixby, both gone too soon.
tvmoviefan So sorry about the loss of your father. Please accept my condolences. I can actually relate about the Incredible Hulk. I used watch it not for the action but for Bill Bixby! I thought he was handsome and SUPER CUTE! LOL!
They decided to go to a restaurant in the Milky Way? Pray tell, where they had wait staff for such a meal! They could whip up anything, so no need for a restaurant (materializing table, chairs...was a trifle).
