This album was a surprise album after she finished filming the movie Dream Girls. All that inspiration from the movie blessed us with this album. Also notate this is starting the trend of her doing visual albums, hence music videos for her each track on the album.
Before Jayz she had a long term Bf. Who she learned was messing around on her while she was busy with touring destiny's child. They tried to reconcile and were off and on from 2000-2002 and then she left him and fell in love with Jayz in 2003.
She did this album after playing deena in dreamgirls. The character was walked over a lot and she had to restrain her vocals to fit the character. So this album was loud, in your face and everything she wished she could say as deena.
After her 1st solo album she was sick of hearing ppl say she's not really a singer.... Which is why you hear all of these aggressive notes and this masterful singing style! And she NEVER looked back after this album ♥♥♥♥

This album was largely influenced by her character Deena in the movie Dreamgirls. She may have related to certain songs/elements, but for the most part she said this album is all that she wish Deena could have said in the movie. Also, it was recorded in 2 weeks can you believe that!?!
It's hard to believe songs released in 2006 is considered old now. Then I remember that 2006 was the year I started college which feels like a lifetime ago haha
omg, where are the songs "If" and especially "Flaws & All", in my opinion the best song on the album! I think you definitely need to check out the Deluxe Version of this album!!! ps. "Check On It" is from the Pink Panther Soundtrack

I thought it was funny how in the beginning you thought that she was gonna be young and unexperienced and only hear a little hint of the Beyoncé we hear nowadays when in fact that she's not unexperienced at all and imo this is the album when she came into her own. I think her previous stuff before this, if you don't count Crazy In Love, is pretty meh.
I would say if you haven’t a lot of beyonce albums have stories about there development. And It gives more insight to each collection of work. She records everything so you will have a fun time going down the rabbit hole. Will you be destiny’s child and I would say you should check out todrick halls straight outta oz and haus party if you haven’t already

I was trying not to say it but I couldn't bite my tongue any longer Beyoncé and Jay Z. Jay Z never cheated on Beyonce, the album is about her dad and her mom he's the cheater, Beyoncé had to fire her Dad as her manager. She wasn't going to let him spend her money on his mistress, Beyonce had to pick a side and she chose her mom. You can't cheat on someone when you're with each other 24/7. Kelly Rowland said it best, " No matter where you are, you think he's not there you turn around and there he is." There have been times when Beyoncé would Jay out cause he was back stage, and vice versa. Jay called Beyoncé on stage and when she came out she had on a T-shirt and cut off jean shorts, you could tell she was annoyed with Jay cause she wasn't dressed to come out on stage.
I think people just get confused with it because Beyonce is singing in a style where it sounds like the situation comes from her point of view and not her mother's it's in 1st person and not 3rd person so people over analyze because at first hear the lyrics would sound out of context if you weren't aware of her mother and fathers relationship.
