There are so many parallels between the Williams sisters and Beyonce, as Serena said, no one else could have done the song for the film.

People should or need to understand why the Williams family story is an important story to tell the world. The odds were totally against the Venus and Serena Williams. They were not aloud to join tennis clubs. They were denied because of their skin color and their social economic background. They were denied access by tennis association's, by tennis clubs, by tennis coaches. Even when venus and Serena's talent was undeniable. Understand, Tennis is a one an Aristocratic sport, and it's an expensive sport to play. The National Tennis Federation would not let the Williams sister join at the junior amateur stage of their careers. Their father Richard Williams had to fight, challenge, protect and force the National Tennis Federation to acknowledge his daughter's Venus and Serena's talent. And let them in the National Tennis Federation to play. He had get through unconventional methods. He fought hard and never backed down or gave up every time they were denied entrance in an tournament. Every time Venus and Serena hit the tennis court's around the world these two young girls with braids and beads in there hair were subjected to all kinds of racial slurs hurled at them from the stands. They were called, nigger, monkey, ugly you name it, everything was thrown at them. But. Their father Richard Williams told don't cry you take every word they through at you and you use it on the tennis. All that anger you put on the tennis. Let's be real white people don't experience this kind of abuse and rejection based on their skin color. Golf is the same a sport that was expensive and played by wealthy white people and aristocratics. I hope people get the messagess Beyonce is coveting through her performance and don't just let it go over your heads. Don't think Beyonce is just our entertainer. She is more then that when you look at Beyounce performance for the Oscars your looking at a different version of Venus and Serena Williams. A black women who the odds of her reaching stardom world wide stardom. But, Beyonce worked her behind off as a child to achieve everything she has. It was not just handed to Beyonce. While Beyonce is entertaining you think about the message she is coveting. To me when I look at the reactions the message in the lyrics just goes right over you'll head. Venus, Serena and the Williams family worked hard with nobody from the sport of tennis on their side from the beginning.

This performance is indeed ICONIC!! Despite Will Smith's unnecessary outburst at the Oscars, the movie is still worth several indulgences. It was well done. She is saying good job to the family on doing the hard work despite the obstacles and adversity they faced. When Venus and Serena Williams started playing tennis as young girls the audience would boo them. They shouted out monkey, nigger. Those girls took it all, all the abuse. Richard Williams told them "don't you cry you take everything they are saying and throwing at you'll you take that anger to the court. You show them what you're made of. " That's exactly what Venus and Serena did, they shut that crowd up and shut them down with their talent.
