Beyond Assynt
Head Through Assynt and you hit Sutherland.. A wild remote area with some amazing landscapes.
This is my short video of my summit wild camp and attempt to capture some of Sutherland's (and Assynt's) magnificent landscapes with my camera....

My mother was born and grew up just north of there in Ardmore. Will get up one day before I'm to old, there is no road to where the croft was/is. One day soon.

Watched all your videos and you've inspired me to do similar. Love your positive attitude towards the Scottish weather, haha! And the fact you don't waffle, haha! Quick question; what are the gloves you wear to climb when it's snowing? The white/grey ones. Also what light do you use for your tent? Hope to see more in the coming future!

Hi JPT, thanks for watching and commenting - much appreciated :) The gloves are just cheapy ones from B and Q !! Although not warm they are good for rope work etc sometimes wear a thin pair underneath for warmth :) I just use a spare headlight to illuminate the tent - nothing too special - the only exception was when "The Grand Tours of Scotland" team were filming the tent an they had a super techy light they used for a number of applications - one of which lit the tent up :) Thanks for watching ATB M Beyond Assynt - Wild Camping in Sutherland - Glas Bheinn

I think your photos are getting better...new camera??? Particularly like the shot at 16:54. Ive missed your videos the last month or so but am glad you're now back with a bang. I managed a Fathers Day wild camp on Derrybawn , Wicklow...chilli con carne and my best ever sleep in a tent!!! Thanks again Murray for taking the time and effort to post these fantastic films. Rich

Hi, do you use any filters? ie sunset or graduated. Or do you do it all through a post photo process?

Hi - I do have a ND set, sometimes use and sometimes not, depends on the situation and what I want to ee in the photo. stacking sometimes works well if I have the tripod and can play about with the camera , but to be honest on most trip I dont even have the tripod and I just shoot the photos whilst hiking (can be time consuming - lol) Thanks for watching ATB M Beyond Assynt - Wild Camping in Sutherland - Glas Bheinn

Spent two weeks geological mapping that area, had about 4 days of good weather, thats the only problem with assynt

Hi Madcat - afraid I am not sure - did a video recently where I went through the gear and discussed the weight stuff bu(ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-foLoHAlNPbY.html ) might be of interest. All I can remember aboutthe weight is that the camera gear weighed the same if not more than the camping gear!!lol Thanks for watching ATB Murray
