Episode 3 of Where The Waters Begin
Where The Waters Begin documents a 300km canoe expedition through the geographic heart of Quebec and expansive wilderness of Eeyou Istchee. The route begins in the remote Otish Mountains with a descent down the Tichégami River. Following in the footsteps of the Cree peoples, our journey would guide us along headwater courses, who shepherd us across the height of land and out beyond the abyss of Quebec's largest lake.

Episodes getting better each segment of trip. I think you actively developing the other personalities of team members helps draw interest.

Lots more of the open forests. The moss that carpets it is super thick and comfy too!

Awesome group dynamics, everyone is getting more comfortable out there when you stick a camera in their face and realizing this RU-vid thing can be pretty fun.

It's actually funny... I wanted to do more intros and sound bites earlier on, but most were camera shy. A few days later and everyone gets pretty comfortable talking to the camera! Was neat to see too!

There was a lot of baking done on this trip! A lot of those are pretty quick, 'just add water before baking' deserts. Something relatively easy but super tasty to look forward to. The reflector oven is a must have for trips like this. I think for next summers big trip, we'll dabble more in breads too.

@@arneservatius1982 lol, some do based on comments received. Something for everyone. Episode I has a route overall map and details. The nearest town is Chibougamau ~300km south, or Mistissini, first nation ~150-200km south.

CRAZY RAPID! You really enjoy this kind of paddling. It didn't look too bad for the second canoe. Weird. They were taking a slightly different line I guess. Gorgeous sunsets.
@ExploreTheBackcountry
@ExploreTheBackcountry Год назад
Yeah they took a slightly different line and also slowed down through some of the pushier stuff. You can see Emily back paddling in the Red Esquiff vs Leah powering straight on onto the maelstrom. Best rapid on the trip though!! Wish we had more of that!

Great adventure in beautiful country. Well filmed and well edited. I really enjoy watching your travels and the team dynamics are great. Do any of the others have RU-vid channels? Could you introduce them? It would be great to find out a bit more about their backgrounds, etc. Thank you.

My wife, Leah is on our channel. Cam has a channel, but he only has one or two short videos youtube.com/@cameronnawalaniec7499. The rest don't really do much social media. I wanted to do a bit more of an intro, but the majority were camera shy at first and only opened up after a few days of the camera being around.
@rlarok22

@@ExploreTheBackcountry The camera shyness was noticeable and the fact they all became more comfortable with it. I think it added another level to the adventure, as if you were all getting closer as time passed. You when through beautiful country, I wish I was healthy, experienced and confident enough to undertake such an adventure. Happy new year!

Is it just me or does the volume seem to vary a lot? I’m playing the video through my TV and find I’m turning it up to hear people talk and down through the music or windy sections? Is it my sound bar? Idk
@ExploreTheBackcountry
@ExploreTheBackcountry Год назад
It's all normalized mix to -1dB with music well below at -10dB to -26dB. Most speaking is +3-12dB. Could be your soundbar setting. I've played it on studio headphones no issue, a forced mono soundcard and through several TV setups without an issue. There could be a theatrical or sampling setting enabled on your bar. Forced mono drowns out some of the mix though.

Same 3 canoes, just different shots so different perspectives. Maybe the shading or lighting in a shot made one of the canoes look different?
