The New Season of GO Battle League is starting and with it pokemon with new moves. Taking a look at whether the great league meta changes this season with the changes in nerfs/buffs to moves.
Looking at a beyond the hype on scrafty. Scrafty is dropping power-up punch for thunder punch. It provides you great coverage for flyers but is it a significant upgrade

It feels like the mass thunder punch upgrade for pokemons was some sort of knee jerk reaction to deal with skarmory while forgetting gliscor still exists. Still, I'm happy for the new bait move on lots of mons! I went positive with an ABA team of skeledirge, shadow typhlosion, and chesnaught. The thunderpunch was pretty useful for shield baits, especially on typhlosion.

GG’s Dan you got me today with Umbreon, Togedemaru and I forget who was in the back but I was not expecting that unfortunately my back line hates to see Electric. Umbreon on the lead is tough to deal with and near impossible to read what’s in the back. I think you’re on to something!

Power up punch made scrafty a bit of a sims hero in pvpoke, with thunder punch it's ranking is more accurate

I think typhlosion is the thunder punch winner tbh. It gets to thunder punch with like 2 incinerates.

19:24 "Im going straight stone edge. it's slightly better damage per energy". It's minimal but it is not, at least not when factoring in stab on aqua tail. Lord Quagsire has 1.89 on aqua tail and 1.82 on stone edge. On a shadow that's 2.26 and 2.18 .

I’ve been using all shadow team: Galv, typhlosion & feraligator and it’s been so much fun. Multiple 5-0 against good players. Galv gets a shield and typhlo or gator with shields up win against almost anything.

Leading with safe swaps can work, but it can be really frustrating to play. I remember one time I think you had a video on MLP or MLPC or MLC where you lead Gyarados to be a safe swap, I tried that and just got annihilated. Could be it was open ML so just dying with Gary makes sense. 10:19 tiny Annihilape is my spirit animal.

Ursaring and Uxie are like the only 2 pokemon who should actually appreciate Swift as far I know if you want to cover them. Ursaring was fine back then in Ultra but in Great it must be tough, but it does have great moves. Uxie is just a bulky pokemon that appreciated the bait move, has the stats, has a bait now and nukes but the typing of itself and its moves are what puts it down, but you can probably make them work for a video and it would be interesting. Not many people know about Uxie having future potential.

19:22 with Quag having water STAB Aqua Tail(2.26) actually has a better DPE then Stone Edge(2.18). Edit: DPE numbers in the brackets are for a Shadow Quagsire.

IV dependant according to pvpoke. Azu loses 1-2 shield against typhlosion with max IV.

I feel that if they would have given him a Close Combat or Dynamic P or maybe Cross C ( which lowers the opponent’s def) will have been better! Right now this Mon is am the same well maybe close to been benched just like Medi/Machamp… not much of an improvement!

It can’t learn Dynamic Punch, nor Cross Chop in the main series, so it’ll never get those moves in Go. Also, Cross Chop doesn’t lower defense. You’ve got it mixed up with Brick Break

I dont understand why do ALL fighters get to be so priviledged with coverage moves when other types get crap? Every single top fighter gets anti flier moves Annihilape, Medi, Poliwrath, Machamp, Scrafty, Hitmontop... this is just ridiculous... lets also give all fliers ground moves then and also all steel fairy moves, right? While we're at it, lets give fire some grass moves as well to completely ruin typings.

While I agree with you, it’s because fighters have so many walls. Ghost, fairy, cress, flying. Like Machamp now for example has just been made obsolete because of Annihilape. But I’m all for more coverage

@@jakejones4801 Thanks, mostly agree, but Niantic is basically forcing you to certain types cause they can (like last seasons aqua tail which was a really stupid idea and the 3 or 4 consecutive seasons they buffed Poliwrath with Counter, Ice Punch, Icy Wind and Scald to force it into the meta down our throats if we want it or not) while other typings are getting rekt... The game is more and more alignment dependent now. Many teams now force win lead and win the game cause of alignment... how fun is that!

I kind of agree but the thing is the fighting coverage moves are mostly punches which literally any fighting mon can get. That's why it's easier to give them coverage. While most of the mons like grass types don't get water moves for fire coverage etc. also for flying, every flyer is a dual type(except two) so that's their coverage I guess

The moves that Niantic gives to a Mon are the same moves that they can get at the Home Series! Still they can be a little more distributed but hey it is Niantic we are talking about here! Lol
