This is the ONLY video I’ve found explaining the picking for this song. Everyone else covers the chords which doesn’t help. Thanks again for breaking this down.
HI, I do have a Bartpbne guitar, and i have it tuned to BEADF#B, and I still cant figure out how Thrice is playing this! Even the intro... if you can provide me some guidance on this, it would really help
Well, it may mess you up trying to follow what I am doing on a baritone. What I would do is actually play your standard guitar and try to follow this. Or you can capo your baritone on the 5ht fret which just gives you EADGBE and then follow this. Hope this helps!
@@mattvanyguitar thank you for your response. I find that the issue is more so the tone of my crappy Line 6 Spider Jam 2.0 amp, vs anything else. I understand what the capo would do at 5, however I need to figure out h I will keep working on it. So while we are at, can you comment on the tone you are using? Thanks!
It's actually really really straight forward on a baritone. He's playing a Cmaj7 (032000) and you just pluck that open F# string. Move up to 075000, same pattern, down to 054000, and then up to 0[10]9000. This is how Dustin plays it. If you're in E Standard. It's easier to just turn the G down to F# and use the same patterns.
No. I just did this really quickly during a student's live lesson so I guess I didn't think of the most efficient way to play it. Didnt want him to have to mess with the tuning either. There is such an easier way to play it. :)
Well, yes and no. I am playing it in E standard but that is only because my student didn't have a baritone guitar. I cannot recall. First time I heard the song was at his lesson right when I made the video. Anyway, this is just a way to play it on a standard guitar tuned to EADGBE. Thanks!
