He does indeed but there's no evading the fact that many of us are getting oh so very tired of GRRM. It's at the point where really I feel if it's not happening he should aware up to his readership and say 'you got the ending in the show' and let us go. This channel keeps me going. But we are beginning to run off fumes.

definitely does Josh , though luckily for him (well not luckily but due to his great content) , compared to many other of the creators mostly known for ASoIaF , Robert's views (total views and those who show up live) and growth of the channel has remained very strong after GoT unlike many of the other ASoIaF creators. When HotD comes out and hopefully TWoW as well i expect another big spike for Robert and many of the other ASoIaF creators.

@@mirarstudios Well that's the thing. He would never say because the show finale is simply a spinoff , completely unofficial. The Winds of Winter will be released when it is released and it's the creator, GRRM's, decision when that should be so. The man is old yes and it's difficult to imagine a dream of springs being published but I'm certain grrm will of put things in motion so that his fans are not left high and dry if he were to pass even if we don't get a definitive completion

@@joshydarroch def still going strong , he gained another 100k subs since GoT and still growing , one of the few ASoIaF creators who reached 200k and now approaching 250k , draws the most live viewers per week out of the ASoIaF content creators. All of the creators who focus on that universe have had a drop compared to when GoT was airing but Robert / IDG has def weathered that as good as anyone.

The story of Night's King shows that Wildlings like Joramun where willing to work with the Night's Watch and the kings of winter against the Others in the past. Perhaps the Wildlings' ancestors stayed north of the Wall to keep watch for the Others, and their descendants like the Nights Watch forgot their original purpose.

I love when u sip ur water and remove the glasses bc that when the great detailed answers come. Love this channel. Rather watch u talk about the best fantasy and sci fi then watch regular tv. I read “The Ice Dragon” to my kids. It tells of a war using fire dragons. The protagonist is in the North; she finds an ice dragon which she tamed. It didn’t feel like took place in a Westeros world.

The Varys back story strikes me as another one of GRRM's take on prophecy. Varys' actions concerning magic are heavily influenced by his mutilation. It also suggests that he won't have unbiased motives where magic is concerned in TWOW and ADOS.

I don't believe Cold Hands can use the Black Gate. Pretty sure that's why he sent Sam to get Bran. So it stands to reason other magic or at least undead creatures couldn't use the Black Gate either.

It may be easier to “imagine” the Others & wights after reading The Heart of What Was Lost. Tad Williams has published a follow on trilogy to Memory, Sorrow & Thorne and I’m sure GRRM read it. Also the original Knight Watch Oath reveals huge clues to the origin of the walls.

Hey, love the vids. I had an idea for some more streams -- you could do ones on different organizations, i.e. Brotherhood Without Banners, Kingsguard/Queensguard, the Night's Watch. You could also do some on the different houses, as I think there would be a lot to cover there, or a stream dedicated to the lore.

In regards to cold hands; The child of the forest 'Leaf' say that he has been around for a long time and if you take that to meaning that leaf thinks it's been a long time then he has been around even longer than perhaps the children. This points to cold hands being one of the 1st resurrected nights watchman during the original battle for the dawn.

Great viewing as always. If your looking for another livestream topic I think the Inn at the crossroads could be one. It has already been the venue for several turning points and intrigues so far and I think it will continue to so in the coming books. So what storylines, meetings and deaths are still to be played out there. Its as least as important as any of the minor regions and possibly more.

Just found this channel - awesome. Any views on this for a vid? In The Return of the King, Aragorn's company comes across the corpse of a man: Before him were the bones of a mighty man. He had been clad in mail, and still his harness lay there whole; for the cavern’s air was as dry as dust, and his hauberk was gilded. His belt was of gold and garnets, and rich with gold was the helm upon his bony head face downward on the floor. He had fallen near the far wall of the cave, as now could be seen, and before him stood a stony door closed fast: his finger-bones were still clawing at the cracks. A notched and broken sword lay by him, as if he had hewn at the rock in his last despair. What was behind the door, and why was the man so desperate to get inside? Did Tolkien ever share that information? This question has been bugging me ever since I originally read the books.

Before this stream I'd began to believe Benjen was dead, and would probably return as some kind of Other. But Robert's theory about Benjen being on a solo ranging to the heart of winter is the most probable and awesome theory I've heard about his whereabouts. If this is true Benjen Stark is the #1 badass of Planetos!

I still think Benjen is dead. I'm guessing Coldhands is a setup/foreshadow character for what happens to Benjen. Something about the Stark blood means they can't be wighted like everyone else. Possibly due to their ancient bloodlink with the Others. So Coldhands is probably an ancient Stark. :)

@@strifamne1749 Like maybe Branden The Builder, or the last hero if they aren't the same person. It would be a pretty good explanation for why so many diverse parties put so much stock in the Starks. The Northmen, The Nights Watch, The Wildlings, The Children, and other skin changers have all at some point, in some way, acknowledged significance of the Stark bloodline. But you gotta admit if anyone cold survive alone beyond the wall for several years it would be the leader of The Night's Watch rangers.

46:08 Jay Kelsey mentioned Accursed Kings. This is a series written by Maurice Druon. I also heard, perhaps in an interview, George state this as being a main inspiration. I found it a little weightier a read than GRRM's stuff, and maybe less than the Silmarillion, but it was intense and intriguing.

Well, down south, there is a LOT to explore. One Valerian Dragon rider tried to fine the edge of Southrose and in a year, couldn't do so, on Dragon back if I remember correctly, which I might not be.

I'm late for the livestream but in listening back re: dragons not wanting to cross the wall. Dragons are also reluctant to approach the High Tower, also a Bran the Builder structure. Given Bran started the Starks is there a similar aversion of dragons to Starks? Could this have an impact on John Snow's relationship to dragons? I'm not totally immersed but has there been any historic dragon/Stark coming togethers? Does Johns blood lines melding suggest a conflict beyond Light-bringer mythology? Thanks for keeping me entertained.

Confused by what you said about magical things not being allowed to pass the wall. Is there really no case where ghost goes beyond the wall? And what about summer?

Tinfoil, perhaps, but I think Jon is the Ice Dragon. While ice is not on the sigil of House Stark, it has a strong connection to the North and the surname “Snow” itself. Dragon is straightforward, symbolic of House Targaryen. The term also appears in many of Jon’s chapters, maybe more than any other character, according to ASoIaF (I think… I was also chasing my toddler around).

The Nevers is really good! We just got caught up. The actress who plays Malady is ridiculously good. And the one playing True is an all around badass, doing many of her own stunts. (Sorry I don't have names... I'm listening while working. Lol) Another good one is Shadow and Bone.

Would the Night's Watch let you go beyond the wall: They probably actually wouldn't allow Tyrian to go very far because he's an important person. If something happened to him, his family (who is currently in power) might "punish" the Night's Watch. Any "common" person they might allow but they would have to go without a guard and would be on their own.

On Benjen as Cold Hands: if I remember right, when they bring back the dead Brothers from Jon and Sam saying their oaths, they mention a few times how it's not really them, it's just things that look like them. In that way, do you think it could both be that CH isn't BS, like GRRM says, and that it is the thing that used to be BS?

Well, the Others were certainly testing Waymar Royce before they killed him....possibly the Great Other (Night King?) has reached the end of his body's lifespan and needs a powerful new host. This would be a mirror-image situation to what's happening with the Three Eyed Crow and Bran, and thematically work within the story. This would also set up another Dawn Age/Age of Heroes echo in current times. The original Night's King legend is about a Stark having to kill another Stark, and we know how much GRRM likes to put echoes into his writing. Perhaps Benjen has been captured and possessed by the Great Other, and his fellow Starks, Jon and Bran, the new Three Eyed Crow, will have to find a way to stop him using knowledge gained from the weirwood net.

1:28:15. I have to push back against something Robert. You call the magic that the Others use to reanimate dead bodies as being the "perverse or twisted version" of the power Bran, Bloodraven, and the Children have to warg. But from my perspective, one of these powers moves non-living bones and flesh, while the other not only manipulates a physical body, but specifically a body with a soul still inside of it. The descriptions of what wargs do when they even attempt to enter the body of a living person is horrible, let alone what we see in Hodor (and Meera that one time). I understand that reanimating a dead body is seen as a violation across pretty much every culture, both here and on Planetos. But at least in this world, even though we don't know if an afterlife exists, we do know that the spirits of the deceased move on once a body is dead. So to me, moving a body is not that bad; disrespectful or offensive, but not necessarily "perverse" or "twisted". Especially not compared to warging into a living conscious being. As an aside, I will say, even in our world, I recognize that my view of bodies isn't shared by most people. I plan on leaving my corpse to either be used for organ transplants or donating to scientific study. No burial. No tombstone. But that's just me.

Does seem low Andrew , the non - live vids get way more comments and likes. The live streams of course many go and watch back after but the main experience is the live interaction and engagement. After 2 , 3 sometimes even 4 hours of Robert interacting with patreon and the chat and the live chat commenters interacting with each other I would assume not much appetite to leave a comment after the stream. Always great for a rewatch or to go back if one misses the stream but it is very much about the live experience. The other non - live / pre-recorded content gets way more comments , often hundreds of them.

@@dorianrichards924 for me i read them as a preteen/teen loved the first 3 hated 4 so i never went back to the series till recently i still found them to be good dumb fun and nostalgic and i appreciated book 4 quite a bit more as an adult.

Jon is not dead ... it is real in that his spirit passes to Ghost, but his body is dead, his heart and other organs do not work for 4 stabs. So Jon does not pass to the other side as a ghost but the one who is going to heal his body to return to it, will be R'hllor or the Old Gods ... something magical has to happen.

I need some opinions about "The Wheel of Time" book series. I have read many different opinions that were either extremely positive or extremely negative. One was calling it a "Lord of the Rings" ripoff", for example. Another opinion was that it's an amazing story but it's so slow and uneventful that any sort of action starts happening at like book 4 or something. I have other books to read at the moment, but for the future I'd like to decide if I should buy them or not, because "The Wheel of Time" are quite expensive.

The complaints on WoT tend to start around book 5: too slow, nothing happens, cash grab, paid by the word, etc. I stalled out at book 9. I never sympathized with any of those complaints. I merely felt RJ had let the whole thing grow beyond a realistic scope. I eventually finished the series and am quite happy I did. Would have been better if RJ had lived to finish it himself, because I quite liked what he was doing towards the end… though not everyone agrees! Serious RJ fans swear by blitzing through the books in great marathon sessions. Sure, I guess?

Approximately three months to post produce a finished manuscript of THE MOST anticipated and LONGEST follow up in history? My ass. GRRM will not finish TWOW. He’s already signed on to produce several other projects with release dates. He’s already described writing this book as “oppressive “ and he’s fully to blame for it. He has admitted giving Dan and Dave the general ending so they could finish their season. I believe he witnessed how disappointed the fans were with the ending, and now he is re-writing it, or at least he plans to rewrite it, when he is done with all the other projects he has signed on to do.
