Meet him once after a show, he sat at the edge of the stage and talked to everyone that a word or two say. Shook my hand and gave me a wink. One of the best genuine singer songwriters in my books.

I was really surprised and lucky when I went to see Joan Baez in concert and an unannounced Hoyt Axton opened the concert. I definitely miss him but he is still the best! 🙏✌

I love this song. I used to perform this one in my solo acoustic gigs in Boston in the late 70`s & early 80`s. Saw Hoyt on an early episode of Bonanza. He played a killer.

Does anyone remember him for "God damn the pusher" being banned because it takes the Lord's name in vain, "Officer Ray" being banned because it is anti-authority and contains the word "testicles", while the surreal "Jeremiah was a bullfrog" is OK? When will right-wing country fans take a hard look at themselves?

One of my favorites too. Did see him in concert in outdoor amphitheater, mid 70's Stanford CA. I think he was pretty drunk though so not a great performance. He was having a good time though!
