Dear Colette, I'll be 67 this year and I am right with you in regards to your feelings of frustration, disappointment and betrayal. I feel we are headed for huge changes and it will be very messy until we find ourselves on the positive side of the changes. We will survive this and we will thive again. I’ve been feeling the same way and have decided to cut back on my social media intake especially the news. I’m enjoying reading more and using my mind hands to create something through cooking, art, and gardening. You’re videos help me remember what’s really important.

I personally couldn’t care less about politics or what’s going on in the world. Nothing I can do about it. Absolutely nothing! I was in China for the first year and 1/2 of Covid. It was horrendous! I now live in Ireland.I want a peaceful life filled with bird songs, sound of the wind in my trees…etc I have a big new garden. First thing I do in the morning is to go and feed the wild birds accompanied by my dog. I feel so privileged to be able to do that. I work hard everyday for 4/5 hours to plant trees and shrubs. I am too exhausted in the evening to care about what’s going on in the world. The stress in China very nearly broke me. I just can’t do it anymore. I love your videos. Hopefully you will come back soon. I couldn’t deal with idiots leaving comments as they do not understand what you are about. Lots of love. Come back soon 😊

Hello dear friend! Colette, I am tied up in knots over the train derailment and huge toxic chemical poisoning in Ohio. I am beyond angry over the greed and corruption and lies and callousness responsible for this atrocity. It was all avoidable!!! Mother Earth and innocent people will suffer horribly for this for a very long time. There will be much needless death, yet the perpetrators will sleep snug in their beds. I want to scream, long and loud. I too need to back away for a little while for my sanity. I'm not one to sit back and ignore things, but sometimes one must regroup, so as to fight another day. I don’t recognize America anymore. I find I have withdrawn from life in many ways these past few years. It’s an energy thing…I don’t know when the shift happened, but people tire me easily now. I am so pleased for you that you found your little piece of heaven, and have made it your sanctuary. I hope this season the world is in will improve, and not grow bleaker. Right now, it’s not looking good. The anger unleashed, cannot be put back in the bottle. I think that’s what these politicians created….now they have a monster on their hands. 21 years ago when my oldest was a baby I connected with other likeminded people on a message board. No algorithms, just posts appearing chronologically. The site owner made enough money to keep the site going through unobtrusive banner ads that were easily ignored. I wish there was some way to connect like that again, without lining the pockets of huge corporations and being ruled by advertising and algorithms. Taking a break is always a good thing. I wish you peace and grounding. Thank you for putting so much energy into sharing your story with the world. ❤️

I love your gardens and insight. The United States is in a terrible shape. Our country has been completely hijacked by global entities and anyone who speaks against this corruption is demonized. Our people in Ohio are suffering and we are sending millions of dollars overseas for war. We have no control against these entities. I bought birdseed for my bird feeder. It is the little things of nature and our creator that bring joy to our hearts.

I too, have the same feelings about the politicians and media. My heart breaks for my 6 grandchildren as well. What the future holds for them is unknown. As you walked around your beautiful gardens in the video, and chatted, it struck me how incongruous your words we heard and the scenery we were looking at were....at odds with each other almost. (A troublesome topic against the beauty of nature). I too had decided to step back for 2 weeks now, from the madness of the “outside” world, and I have been focusing my energies each day on connecting with and living in alignment with Mother Earth. I must say, I feel 1000% better having taken this time “off”. Kindred Spirit Colette: I just wonder how many of us have been inspired by you to create our own "Little Bealtaines" or "Children of Bealtaine"? Like you I don't worry much about "invasives" when I plant my trees. To me it is more important to have quantity and variety. I personally think we have already past climate tipping points from which we will never return to the old normal.... or any normal potentially. As part of that I am planting my property (like Bealtaine is) as a sort of "resilience island to the future". The more and varied plants and especially trees I can plant the more likely some of them will be able to adapt to whatever future we might or might not be in store for (I say "we" but conceivable humans may be gone then). I like the idea of the "assisted migration" movement for trees. These "Little Bealtaines" scattered around the planet will I think be like little Noah's Arks and act as nuclei from with Mother Nature can use as she rebuilds whatever way she will in any new future - and undoubtedly she will adapt and rebuild. What a legacy for you, for Beataine and for all of us with "Little Bealtaines". One person can do just a little bit to address the climate change emergency in changing behaviors, but in creating a resiliency island for the future all over the globe literally via a "Little Bealtaine" we can actually do a lot! And with unseasonable cold and snow here I have been watching many of your old videos and was just thinking "Colette doesn't rant as much as she used to and I miss them." And as if on cue you gave us a little rant today (funny we call truths "rants"). We are here when you are restored!

I have been watching your videos for a long time Collette and agree with so much of what you say in this one. In the UK recently we had the opportunity to elect a good man but other more powerful, dangerous men vilified him and made the electorate believe their lies, entirely for their own ends. I too despair for my children and grandchildren but as you do, I retreat from the world into my little bit of heaven on earth. It's all I can do to stay sane. We have to hope that there are enough of us and fewer of them so that in the end decency and goodness may prevail.

I follow several people of common sense ilk that were completely kicked of youtube AND facebook because of their 'dissenting' voices during the Covid crisis. So I receive an email notification for updates, and I go to their website for their content. If you are so inclined Colette, you could have the structure for your followers set up for that. I agree with everything you say, especially in this video. I detest all this war and I campaigned against the war in Iraq but received vile comments from the public which made me feel vulnerable in my own community. I still disagree with these wars. My solace is picking up layers of sodden and stinking litter in my community to help nature recover from the thoughtless dumping of rubbish and one of my neighbours was last year fined £1,000 by our local council for trying to improve the natural area (which he has been lovingly tending to for several years). In solidarity and as a form of civil disobedience I am complimenting his rolo and to hell with the so-called law, who bomb their way to goodness knows what end and meanwhile fine ordinary and kind citizens for tidying up litter in their own community. You couldn't make it up! If I hadn't seen this with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe it but it's true Colette, every word I write is true. I am sewing and knitting like fury too! 🤣🤣🤣 To try to relax from this awful state of anxiety these so-called 'leaders' are creating with their upside down, sickening war mongering and ripping us all of our meagre incomes. I totally understand your standing back. I took the pandemic lockdowns to go within and focus on what is positive and important to me, including people. It was a time to discover priorities and regroup my energy. I turn off news periodically because it does seem that all logic has evaporated from the powers that be and in general how much of the world conducts itself. For self preservation all we can do is walk the path we know is true for us individually and not try to control what we cannot outside of our personal world. I agree Colette, there’s nothing but doom & gloom in the media. I very rarely watch tv anymore & I am actually thinking of getting rid of it & cancelling the stupid bbc licence. The only thing I will miss is gardeners world. A few days ago I had a similar experience, I was overcome with happiness, feeling weepy, for no reason other than I was outside in the sunshine. I think the whole world is going crazy, I cannot for the life in me understand how the politicians & the news media can be so stupid & selfish. I too keep to myself, most people annoy the life out of me. Well, I appreciate you voicing the very sentiments that are overwhelming me also at present. Living in America leaves me speechless at the low level of honesty and integrity of both politicians and news media. I have been so distraught about the wars that continue raging and tormenting the people and animals of this world. I cannot understand this embodiment of evil by people who seek to overtake and decimate other countries. I keep wondering "why?" - what do you think these actions will accomplish in the long run. I also despair about the future earth my grandchildren will grow up in. What can I do to mediate the destruction and hate? I alternate between trying to stay engaged in the current affairs and pulling back from it. I live on a remote farm full of forest and nature. I introduced your channel to my 28yr old musician son after he suffered a noise induced brain trauma resulting in extreme tinnitus. I thought your soothing voice, gentle visuals and inspiring words of wisdom would help him through his darkest days. It absolutely did and we are eternally grateful. He is still on a long path to recovery but we are always hopeful and thankful for the things we can find joy in and you are very much a piece of that jigsaw. That is the ugly thing, that this chaos have been deliberately created (and that is not a new thing either it has been done before many times by politicians to secure their own positions and power they have created chaos that costs lives, human, tree, bird, wolf...). Speaking of those algorithms, I notice RU-vid tries to" suggest" to me other channels of some person or other trying to make a life in their cottage. There are so few of those I am interested in, because they are only trying to "sell their brand." You aren't selling anything, you are creating and sharing the stories and valuable experiences of a lifetime. And you and Terri Conroy, are two of the most naturally gifted story tellers I've known!

Blessings Colette I will miss your vlogs but I totally understand and vibe with you I feel alot of we kindred folk are feeling the urge to go into hermit mode this year and I am quite content to stay in my cottage and get busy planting on my land..being as self sustainable as I can These are times of great upheaval but there are so many of us making quiet positive change that is certainly not newsworthy As you say Plant like your life depends on it Thank you for nourishing my soul X

I can relate. I rant all the time. Sometimes it's a blessing to be our age and sometimes it's a curse but it certainly provides a long view of history and a much broader perspective. Every now and then I have to have a breather from my devices. Sometimes their is such an overload of information/disinformation going on that my mind needs to just be quiet. I know in my heart that their is alot of dark energy rising up around the world and alot of distractions are taking place to shift our attention from where it should be, while at the same time their is alot of light being shone down upon us and within us.
