I tried going toe-to-toe with Drizzt with both a Half-Elven Fighter/Mage and Dwarven Fighter/Cleric (the two strongest characters I can build in classic BG1) fully buffed with spells, potions, etc. They both could destroy Sarevok quite easily in melee, even the TotSC version. They STILL get annihilated by Drizzt, every time. That guy is just really annoying.
Hmm Elven fighter/mage or human dual class fighter/mage should be able to kill him in a straight fight. I solo'ed him with a half-ling fighter/thief too, just keep using potions of invisibility and backstab him. All characters was of course at the xp cap of 161,000 (ToSC) I usually just cheese him early to get the great loot though. I consider the strategy used in this video to be cheesy, and it is the usual way i do it too.
I think the Enhanced Edition buffed Drizzt. Back in '98 or whatever, I distinctly remember my level 7 fighter with like -6 AC being able to kill Drizzt toe-to-toe, with some health potion chugging. I could get regular melee hits on him, in other words. But I tried it the other day in the EE with an even more overpowered dual-wielding Berserker, and Drizzt was much more difficult to hit. Beamdog seems to have increased his AC, or something.
I wouldn't know. I haven't played the EE. I generally use Tutu, although i prefer the original. Problem is that the graphics engine used in BG1 runs poorly on modern systems, i have considered using dosbox or something similar.
CognizantCheddar: TotsC hasted him unless I'm mistaken. I know they did with Sarevok. The only class that should be able to beat him fairly 1v1 is fighter/mage, and, well, that is due to mirror image.
what I always do, I make sure all party members have bow and arrows (kivan and imoen in party). I position them on the small piece of land in the pond. Usually I have someone I want to kill off in my party for example Khalid or Montaron, etc... who then attacks Drizzt. Drizzt follows him to a spot where my archers can get a shot at him. Drizzt kills the excess npc, the rest keep on shooting and Drizzt stands there taking it until he dies because the pond doesn't let him get close. By the way, Kivan always gets the kill
If you attack him ranged after he attacks the gnolls, then he'll go hostile to you. If you then invis, the gnolls will continue to attack him but he doesn't fight back. Wait 10 mins and he's dead - plus you didn't get the rep hit from killing him yourself!
Kyew1969: only one of his scimitars can be pickpocketed, and armor any NPC is wearing can't be stolen, either. The tactic in this video is one of only a few effective means of wasting Drizzt and scoring his swag.
Wow... never thought it could be done. Too bad it won't work on BGEE.... But you could conjure more hobgoblins as the first 5 ones go down. Maybe I'll try it later. Thanks anyway! (always hated to think he couldn't be killed!)
In the original BGI pretty much every opponent could be swamped and killed in this manner no matter how strong; however if you have the Enhanced Edition you can't do this (Monster Limit is set to 5 just like BGII). Ha mind you it's probably just as well you didn't get the XP for killing him (Your reputation actually drops by 10 normally too). And you still got his stuff (Which is probably why you wanted to kill him in the first place) :)
I've never seen that portrait before. That looks cool. Have you seen any other portraits for Baldur's Gate? I've seen quite a few cool portraits for some of the other characters of the game but never that purple guy. I would've made him half-elven.
That's a character from World of Warcraft. Still think it's cool? It's pretty easy to make your own portraits, but this pack isn't too bad: www.moddb.com/games/baldurs-gate-enhanced-edition/addons/super-ultimate-portrait-pack
@@Zomesura Yes and I am glad that the game is still supported by mods. Also Beamdog is working on an update : forums.beamdog.com/discussion/80867/road-to-2-6-planned-patch-items-windows-macos-linux/p1
Well, you can kill him solo, with your main character only - if you finish the game multiple times with the same character you can have even 25 str dex & con. All you need to do (playing as a warrior) in hand-to-hand combat is to deliver him one hit, then run away few meters then attack him when he approaches :) Dont engage him in a normal way, coz he delivers series of blows. Takes about 5-6 hits to finish him off
Ok so I found out how to kill him level 1 Enhanced editon (no use of summoning staff) for any class :D will upload that shit tomorrow if anyone reads this,
+Marcin Obuchowski (Czeladnik) yeah remember all the special arrows. they were OP. and well in the EE bows were even more broken^^ as you had the Ranger kit Archer with its absurd firing ratio.
You killed him at level 1 with an army of summons. And you kept reloading to get hobgoblins. How is that not exploiting the game? Thanks for wasting that 13 minutes of my life.
It manipulates the rolls of the wands dice until he gets a roll that he likes... That's bug exploiting. Not a single GM of D&D would let you reroll a casting throw if you dont like it.
Why do you suppose your PC didn't get that 12k experience for killing him? I didn't think a summoned monster stole your experience, even if it dealt the death blow.
