I apologize for the mistake at 14:00, as Dueling Style SHOULD work with a Shield. It completely went over my head because I'm still too used to Pathfinder where Shields can be used as weapons 😁
same... everytime you say "at level seven..." i automatically finish with "...outflank of course". if you ever do merchandise you can print that on tshirts
For the weapon, Lathander's mace gives you a nice blinding Sunbeam that also deals radiant damage. Exactly the kind of combination you want for this build.
A few things i would add to this build: The Boots of Striding (act 1) will give you 1 turn of momentum (extra movement) when you concentrate on a spell, and more importantly, will prevent you from getting knocked prone, which is important because shove bypasses ac with a saving throw, and will break your concentration. Also the Crusher's Ring (act 1) will boost your movement speed all the time, and the Amulet of Misty Step (act 1) will also give you misty step. Finally, the Elixir of Vigilance can give you the same effect as the Alert feat, so once you start getting enough of this elixir and the ingredients for it, you can respec and choose something else.
Crusher's Ring is a favorite for the very early game indeed! Interesting about the Elixir, it's just that it's a rather competitive slot what with Bloodlust, Peerless Focus AND also the STR Giant ones!
Be careful with hirelings casting warding bond from camp, at least for the final mission. The game kept crashing on me whenever the person with bond took damage. I think what was happening was that during the final mission, the camp doesn't exist, so the game tried to transfer the dmg to nonexistent person.
For weapon I would recommend Phalar Aluve. It's a finesse longsword (probably the only one). You can then use its shriek effect to allow the rest of the team to deal additional Thunder damage per attack, as well as give all enemies nearby a -1d4 to saving throws (allowing spirit guardians and any other team spells to be effective more often).
Larethian's Wrath is another finesse longsword you can acquire in Act 1 at the Githyanki Creche Merchant that also has an ability on it similar to cleave but also deals radiant damage to proc radiant orbs
i was using callous glow ring and luminous armor. i threw one of those smokepowder bombs at a group of enemies. the one that survived had 120 stacks of radiant orb. it crashed my game on thier turn, but dam was fun
The adamantine shield procs two rounds of reeling when attacks miss. And the holy lance helm does 1D4 radiant to attackers that miss if they fail their dex save. Shield master might work better than war caster as the final feat because it will protect you from AoE damage.
If you want a simple weapon for damage, there is that club of hill giant strength, which sets your Str at 19... It is on the top floor of the Arcane Tower in the Underdark.
@@PeepoFrog As a Light Club it qualifies as a Monk Weapon and still triggers unarmed attacks, yes. It's great for a Monk Build honestly due to allowing you to sacrifice strength but still benefit from good carrying capacity and all your attacks.
@@PeepoFrog The monk will use the club for the attack action instead of unarmed strikes. You'll still be able to Flurry of Blows with Unarmed as normal.
please consider to make builds without hag hair in mind ... its only available for 1 character and you use it for every build you make as if you get 50 in this game xD
Go for 16 instead of 17... then in act 3 you can sacrifice 2 stats of your choice for 2 stats of your choice (for example sacrifice 2 int for 2 str if you are a fighter)
i would find it really helpful if you included a small section in your build guides about what roles and what kind of builds the rest of the team could use that would work well together:-)
Well I'd suggest 2 DMG dealers with it: throw barbarian, his Astarion build, his monk build but without ac bonuses (not needed), and maybe a crowd control magic User, warlock lvl5 early on with Wyll is insane :u just cast hunger of haggar, on top of them u'r tank at the exit. Should solves any difficulty u have, early u put grease on the floor so it creates a choke cloud or darkness above it just don't fire the grease by mistake.
an eldritch blast 2warlock 2fighter 8sorc (this can do 300dmg in 1 cast of Eldritch Blast or 600dmg if your items wont be divided into your mage), a magic missile pure mage (will do 250 damage in 1 cast of magic missile), a dual bow 6 bard, 4 rogue, 2 fighter (can do 350 damage in 1 turn). Individually, these are the most OP build. Add them together, Tactician would feel like youre playing beginner difficulty.
@@pattrickmerete y sadly, it gets real easy as werglia says in his video the AI dash more than it does DMG, I had freaking Steelwatchers jumping up and down the place self killing themselves on down jumps, without me playing for it! Just them randomly switching agro, it hurts my eye to see them sucking on my AOE spells (aka firewall) as well
Great build idea, but be careful if the radiating orbs start stacking to 40+ the game just crashes. Might just be me, but everytime they get that high it instant crashes.
@@cRPGBro is the orb debuff bugged or something? according to the tooltip, the stacks are how many rounds it lasts, not how many -1 stacks. So, it should just be -1 to attack rolls for 20 rounds, not -20 for attack rolls.
@@adidas2684 "Affected enemy has -1 to Attack Rolls per remaining turn." When you have this "per turn" language it means the effect is multiplied by that value, in all other cases the duration is not mentioned in the description but rather underneath it.
Wow, another very good and informative and detailed guide. You explain it really well, so that even beginners understand it. ☺ I have watched several videos of yours in the last few weeks, which have helped me a lot with character creation and leveling. Thanks a lot! 👍
I know this was posted a while ago so late to the party but the Holy Lance Helm from the painted chest at the top of Rosymorn Monastery synergises well as creatures who miss you get Radiant damage on Dex fail as a retaliate, which adds even more sources for the armour.
That’s a good point, my goal was to rework this for honor mode, using this build as a tank and sub-healer to my lore bard/life cleric Tav who would be the control caster and dedicated healer. The plan is to double down on radiant sources and move the healing items to my Tav.
The duelling fighting style works with sword and board, as the board isn't a weapon. I have read though that the bg3 implementation of the rules exclude versatile weapons, but I've not tested that myself
Several things have changed since this video, not that it really matters but certainly on honour you can only stack a maximum of 10 orbs on an enemy. Obviously people will have mentioned The Blood of Lathander, but really, and the biggest for me, was the Speedy Boots that give you Click Heels. That is without doubt the best way for a solo run because the extra movement speed is worth enormous AOE when using SG and allows you to stack orbs like a fricken beehive. Plus you need to do quite a bit of evading so getting distance to make your opponent use dash is also very useful. Finally, as a full cleric it will give you access to a couple of incredibly powerful AoE spells, one being Thunder Wave probably leaving the entire field prone and a massive 5d6 Thunder damage + 5d6 Radiant damage. Check out my vids, Ill be uploading more over the next few weeks. :) Btw, Amazing AC Build.
I tried Radiant Shockwave + Reverberation, not only it destroys their hit chance but it completely destroys their saving throws allowing for fighters and ranged characters go to town inflicting all kind of status effects effortlessly. Combine this with slow, bane or other de-buff spells and they will never save on their saving throws.
The whispering promise ring isn't always with the goblin trader. Seems to be somewhat random on which trader gets it, but definitely by the time you get to the goblin camp. I think my first playthrough, it was the goblin. But my second, Volo had it. Quick google search seems to also make Roah the Zhent halfling, have it from time to time.
I wasn't able to get the ring from Volo, in the druid grove, I didn't see the chat option to trade with him. Then, I think I made the goblins mad too early to get the goblin trader. I'm going to go recheck the goblin trader's body, but I think I lost out on this ring, and it seems like a really good ring, I might be considering starting over so I can get it... my main character is a Cleric and it just seems so perfect for them...
@@cRPGBro the dueling style even in 5e just specifies no "weapons" in the other hand so all shields are fine. However the Duelist's Prerogative rapier says you need to have an empty off hand for it's bonus so that can cause confusion.
I love this for shadowheart, I’ve been doing a Gale war cleric 1/warlock 3/Wizard abjuration 8 for the best retaliation tank even thought the AI won’t attack but stacking Armor of Agathys, and fire shield to retaliate you don’t need high AC because you are stacking dr.
To add onto the radiant orb build alternative, I stacked the Coruscation Ring w/ The Blood of Lathander (both very early Act II items) to be permanently illuminated (Sunbeam also really strong at that stage). Late game I plan on using the Gontr Mael for the illumination to free up my main hand.
Blood isn't as good as the Sacred star for this, especially when you can just cast light on yourself for free to make up the difference the effect gives.
Fun build, only thing I don't like is you make it seems like the 50% all resistance is part of the build although it's kinda an exploit with hirelings warding bond.
I mentioned it because it is something that can still be done currently, but I just had my own Shadowheart who is an active member of the party cast it on me instead.
I found a ring Coruscation Ring in act 2 that "whenever the wear deals spell damage while illuminated by a light source they also inflict Radiating Orb upon the target. It works great with Shining Staver of Skulls from act 1... however while this is a light hammer and is considered "light" it isn't finesse able so it still uses Str for its attack rolls.
I went for half of the alternative gear and ended up with 22 AC. My Astarion has 25 AC in this playthrough :D Although, admittedly I am missing 2 dexterity and the Ring of Protection (have yet to raid the House of Hope, so I can move some Con into Dex), but these would still give me just 2 more AC. I forgot to pick up the ring of protection (I don't like messing up the Grove), and I'm using the Callous Glow Ring instead for extra (radiant) damage.
I feel like the content of the game can be longer because when you reach level 12 you're already almost at the end game of the game it's kinda sad but I hope it will be longer like there's act 5 will be good where the act is really really focus on your strategy skill and planning
@@cRPGBro it's hard to even play actual D&D at that level because the scale of magic is really stupid when you get 7th level spells and above. They already had to nerf or completely remove some lower level spells.
13:57 You got it wrong. Duelling is not Dual-Wielding. It's actually specifically made for One-handed weapons with a shield! Also, Radiant Orbs doesn't work like that (I'm pretty sure). The stacks just indicate how many turns are left, but it's always just -1 to attack rolls.
One dip into storm sorc at the start would give you the ability to fly after casting spirit guardians con save proficiency and the ability to use medium armor still so you can cast spirit guardians then hit enemies while flying past them, generating orbs as you go so it'd look like 1 storm sorc 11 light cleric, doing that would also give you shield as a reaction which is a bit much, but the flying is cool also you don't get whispering promise from goblin merchant you get it from volo
In that case, wouldn't it be better to do 4 storm sorcerer 8 light cleric, starting with 1/8 then finishing off with the last 3 sorcerer levels to get the extra feat, since you're not really benefiting much from higher level cleric spells in this build?
@@TheFlibidy idea is to cut off the movement penalty of spirit guardians and save needing to take resilient con but I'm loving all these added ideas the prospect of another feat would be decent you could likely get haste using your idea which would cancel spirit guardians but there's an argument to be made that sometimes you'd prefer haste ran shart with a wizard dip for quite a while for haste and fireall she was a life cleric then though presumably you'd have to increase cha if you go for damaging spells also what would the stat spread look like in your idea?
@@The_Yukki agree again idea is to cut off spirit guardians movement penalty and save taking resilient con but I'm liking all these other ideas what would your stat spread be for the added sorc levels? Let's get a conversation going
I watched a few build videos to get some inspiration and yours is the first video I enjoyed. Most people are either WAY too specific or too loose. Only thing I noticed was that you missed a few options with Helldusk armor and Blood of Lathander
I'm thinking of starting a cleric build for newgame. Honestly, it's just for a more indept shadowheart story since she is one of my favorite conpanions, and your build is really indepth and easy to understand.
Your character appearance and this build makes me want to have a playthrough as Escanor from Seven Deadly Sins anime, playing as a good protagonist but very arrogant and proud, so kinda like always intimidating people lol
Bruh I'm even a full 2 minutes in before I started laughing at this build! Bravo! Well done good sir, i will be using this for my 3rd playthrough or if my buddy wants to start a multiplayer run with me.
Hi, great build. I just wanted to mention that "stop time" mechanic and a bug I did yesterday. Thru act 1 I wanted to get Minthara so I did grove, exposed Khaga got ring of defence and went to goblin camp got the raiding party to head to the grove and ignored that went to act 2, when I got Minthara in my party she was still flagged as allied npc but when I entered combat she had free turns as in she did not enter combat but I can ctrl and hit monsters till they died. I also fixed the bug by going back to the grove and killing the 2 goblins in the raiding party, game flagged her as a normal party member over a allied npc
Also anyone going to abuse this in the Shar temple do not make them fight themselves as you do not do enough damage and the ai will use the npc fullheal thing and your stuck in that room forever
I like to put the amulet of closing wounds on my tank so that whenever they get healed, they always get full HP possible. My honor mode playthrough used a Githyanki barbarian/warrior with bear heart so they got full resist from like level 2 whenever raging, except for psychic dmg. But as Gith' you eventually get some armor that grants resistance to psychic dmg so now they're full resist just by raging. And, if they did collect some dmg, a supreme healing pot would restore a huge chunk of their HP. Of course they get hit a lot because of reckless attack, but they did just fine. Anyhow, it's a great amulet for quite a while.
Nice, i think im going to remix this with paladin for a true holy warrior theme. Maybe by throwing in the dex gloves and some hill giant elixers to have a busted stat line
It can definitely be done, such as 6 Paladin after 6 Cleric! I'd rather keep the Gloves because this build type has a lot of great ones. For high STR, you can easily go with Elixirs of Hill Giant Strength, farmable as early as Act 1 from the UD Myconid Colony dwarf lady merchant, that always sells one per long rest.
The fact you said that "the whispering promise" ring comes from the goblin merchant blew my mind. I didn't even know that😂 I have 20+ playthroughs (Including EA) and I have pickpocketed it from Volo in the druids grove EVERY time 😂😂😂😂 This game is insane.
I read that Volo starts with the ring, but if you don't buy it before he leaves for the goblin camp, the goblin vendor gets it. Haven't tested it though.
I use this build together with the dragon sorcerer, eldritch blast and machine gun build in honor mode and I have to say except for the first hag fight, it is hilarious easy xD. So easy that I also try to make some achievments
Awesome build as always! Could you please make one for a sorcadin ? i saw a guy who literally 3 shots Raphael with his sorcadin build on tactician difficulty. i mean thats +200 dmg per attack :o
They upcast smite from spellslots of sorc and it deals absurd dmg to fiends, kind of abusing game mechanics if u ask me, having both classes at 6 and can upcast to rank vi....
@@DoffyDogg his video was a short one there was no explanation, he only showed difficulty level. And he was also soloing whole content. He casted bunch of spells to a greatsword by dropping it and then started wreaking havoc in house of hope
I dont think you can get 6th level spells going 6/6 with paladin, but it's not necessary anyway since smite gets max dice from a 4th level spell slot so you don't really need higher than 4 though it is nice to have extra max smite spell slots available.
I wish people stopped assuming that one has the +1 Ability Score item from certain Act 1 boss. Even if I did get it, it's only _one,_ it's not enough for all my companions.
Can you make a build of retribution? Lets say, if they hit you, you damage them; if they miss you. you damage them. There is the shield of blazing retrigution (if think thats the name). I thought about an oathbreaker paladin (for hellish rebuke and compelled duel) and white dragon sorcerer (for Armour of Agathys)... Sure there is some way to maximize it
@@cRPGBrohey man, I'm trying out the 6/6 cleric Pala. I'm thinking how to dump the stats? I'm currently at the second act and wants to play the same as your build in the video but with smites! I'm also using blood of lathandar for my main hand and the adamantine shield. The rest is similar to yours except my helmet is holy lance. What I'm confused about is where would my damage from the smites come from and what would change in my feat selection if I'm also using a transmutation stone for con prof. Thanks!
currently shadow monk/war cleric simply because they can turn invisible without concentrating for 10 turns while obscured, and when that feature is combined with the durges invis cloak; you are basically unstoppable. I am not sure if spirit guardians produce light or not, if they don't then a character that can turn invis at will without concentration can deal huge damage. a level 6 shadow monk can expect to deal 20~ damage with their quarter staff and 60 per turn using a war cleric attack charge. I like shadow monk because they can basically make either a flurry of blows or offhand weapon attack and turn invis which the ai doesn't handle well. you can very slowly take pot shots and not die because of it. A level 6 shadow monk is better than a rogue. I was able to clear moonrise tower solo on tactician including the prison with a single shadodw monk. you toggle on and off turn-based mode to reset your actions outside of combat, kill, turn invis, and combat ends because enemy can't see you, then repeat.
I was wondering what your thoughts were on cleric 5/ bard 6/ and sorc 1 you when you reach max you start as sorc to get prof in con saving throws and the flight after you cast a spell with no AoO. you still end up with max spells, con prof, and upcast spirit guardians with all the bard stuff too? Love your channel btw, I've been watching for awhile, pathfinder guides as well
Theres an amulet that makes all healing effects on you always max roll, which imo is even better than the 23 con amulet. Its also available at the start of act 2 from the woman who wants a gith egg
True, though if you dont need healing you also dont need a ton of health :p I keep going back to a multi attack shattered flail + ring of regen + helm of balduran build for like 20hp per turn back, with 30ish ac@@cRPGBro
Love this build. I know this comment is a bit late, but I'm curious as to whether or not you think I could build this character in reverse. Swords bard first, then cleric? Loving all your videos.
Hi there, and thank you so much 😃 Ideally you really want Cleric 5 as fast as possible, because the Spirit Guardians spell gained at that level will be your main source of constant Radiant Orb debuffs as AoE. It's a really strong spell even without it!
Found that multiclassing into wizard with mental acuity items and having the much better utility to apply even more orbs with magic missile and scorching ray was more effective.
Would it make sense to start with one lvl in Bard for weapon Proficiencies? 😊 Thank you so much for your work. I love all your builds for Pathfinder WotR already 😊
i dont fully understand this build, perhaps its because you are showing both the pros of different sort of build - one is the high AC, and another with the radiating orb and presenting it as though you get to achieve both in the same item build which isnt the case. and also it would be best not to present AC from skills as part of a build/ at least make it a separate portion of the video on how to gain max, it will be helpful as a point of comparison to know what the AC the build has without any skills. but overall thanks for the video its nice and does give a lot of new ideas. i have no idea the radiating orb stacks with how many enemies you hit as you can never guess that from the tooltip
At bard level 3 instead of two weapon fighting go with dueling. It works with sword and board as long as the weapon is not versatile (which most maces he lists are not).
Hi CrpgBro, I was wondering if you could clarify something for me. Radiating orb seems to only provide a -1 attack roll for me, even if I stack 10 orbs, it will only provide -1 attack roll but for 10 turns, but the way I hear it mentioned would be -10 to attack rolls but I never see more than -1
I would really like this high AC build to include a divination wizard. That way you can change the random critical hit against you. For that purpose maybe all those cleric levels are not desirable. Maybe just go bard and magic secret your way to spirit guardians?
With Luminous Armor, it’s actually (imo at least) not worth it to have Dex that high,14 (or 16 with Medium Armor Master) would be the limit. Allowing you to focus more onto other stats.
I’m running 1 barbarian 8monk 3rog and it’s easily my favorite build. Only 22ac but punches are 20-40 dmg and ki punches are like 40-80. While raging it’s slightly more.
Going past that AC is pretty much unnecessary anyways :p At that point already, most damage you will take is from spells. Most attacks will miss you because of how it works in DnD and BG3. Barb Monk, with what they did to Tavern Brawler, is amazing fun.
only 22 AC? with the con amulet, you should have that with no other buffs on a build (+5 from Dex, +7 from Con) with levels of barbarian. throw in Shield of Faith and Warding Bond from a cleric, cloak of protection, and ring of protection, as well as Haste, and you have an easy AC29.
Great build crpg bro my man !! i have watched countless of your builds (all the wotr ones) and the one thing i have noticed is that you """ really"" like the initiative-alert hahahah you really like going first right ?? :) :) :)
Absolutely! Initiative ensures alpha strikes which can really ruin the enemy, especially on Turn Based mode where they cannot do anything at all while it's still your turn.
I love the idea of this build until you walk into….a certain area and every enemy has a reflect that does damage to you when you do radiant damage to them….
Hag hair buff from Act 1 gives +1 to skill of your choice. He's starting with 17 Dex, getting to 19 with Ability Improvement and then using hag hair for 20.
I don’t know if am i doing something wrong but, followed the whole guide, actually lv 7 (2nd time plating), i start with MC (wood half-elf), go to the enemies, use spirit guardians and later the divinity area attack, and they don’t get any debuff on attack rolls… I’ve missed something? It apply auto? Had to do any other thing instead of just teleport to them and use the abilities?
Hey @cPRG Bro, can you give us a quick update please. Someone wrote "It seems like Patch 4 may have nerfed this heavily, as it no longer seems to stack from multiple sources off a single attack. For instance, having Coruscation Ring and Luminous Armor, and dealing damage while illuminated (for the ring), gives only 2 stacks." So is the Luminous armor still worth it? Or should I forge the Adamantine Scale Mail (medium armor) at the Adamantine Forge? Thanks a lot!
If we go with Luminous Armor, does increase Dex over 14 benefit us at all? Also the Deva Mace is a fantastic weapon. Also can’t wait for Reverberation fixed so I can try this build with the Boots of Stormy Clamour and/or Gloves of Belligerent Skies
Pretty please for party composition and item distribution among party members video. Because you cannot give every one Hag Gift and you have only one item like The Dead Shot, so which bows to give to others etc.
You are correct, I added a pinned comment explaining it. Apologies as I first thought Dueling was rather about light weapons + light shields, which aren't in the game. Strange to get the Dueling bonus with a massive Shield & let's say a Rapier, but hey, it works!
Hi, I was watching reddit, forums, everything and I still dont know, if a creature rolls a base 20, is it 100%a hit even if you have this much AC, or it will still be a miss? (+ if it hits, but you have armour that doesnt allow them to crit will it miss instead, or you get the hit without the critical strike effect?) Thanks in advance!
So... you put a lot of effort into maxing your dex (highest starting value, Hag's Boon, feat), but ultimately Luminous Armor is head and shoulders above the other chest pieces, you you really only ever need 14 dex. Don't get me wrong, this still looks amazing, but you don't get 40 AC AND the -20 debuffs on enemies, but rather either one or the other. And yes, +5 dex-mod rather than +2 makes hitting easier, but if you focus on wisdom instead, your cantrips will land more easily - and you do radiant damage with that. In the late game, the Gauntlets of Hill Giant Strength will be best-in-slot, this will also be the time you get extra attack from your Bard levels, if you choose that route. At that time there's also enough returning weapons to throw in ranged combat. On a cheekier note: I'd love to see you beat the House of Hope with that build, though...
Higher DEX is chosen for the MAX Initiative possible, to ensure your character will ALWAYS act first, even against bosses, when further boosted by the Alert Feat, thus removing the reliance on RNG Initiative dice roll. I explain the main reason for that at 04:48
@@cRPGBro Yeah, that was my bad for letting my assumptions about the dex value take over. I wonder though, whether the dex gloves from act 1 (putting you at a +4 instead of a +5 while freeing up an entire feat, the hag boon and massive amounts of stat points) would be worth the tradeoff. It's only -1 to initiative after all, but in turn you can not only get War Caster but also higher con (before you plunder the HoH). With Spirit Guardians, concentration rolls are pretty important. It also frees up multiclass options a bit more if you aren't that desperate for feats.
Hi, I really enjoy your videos.... but i need help with what spells or things you cast example with the tank , you jump in the middle and then cast what spells. thank you for your help.
Well, thankfully they wouldn't be able to hit us at all, unless they got lucky 20s in a roll! It would actually be better to face multiple ones, because that makes Luminous Armor explosions stack even better, hah!
For anyone thinking of trying to get high AC, don't it forces the game to miss you like 2 times and then take 3 to 4 crits in a row... so pointless unless you are late in the game and have adamantine armor. Honor mode/ early game NOT recommended.
