sairam, I was just wondering whether there was any way to match up the shruti that the singers were singing in (like G shruti or D sharp) with the guitar? do I do this by using a capo and if so how to correspond them correctly? I think you mentioned that putting the capo on the first fret makes it into the key of C sharp, is that also in shruti of C sharp?

Please find my answer to your questions How to find the shruti of the singer on the Guitar? To do this - I use the guitar string E that the first string from the top (Heavier base string) and press the string on each fret until I get the shruti. It maybe the exact note or it maybe a relative shruti. Using that I can figure out the shruti of the singer. Over time you can easily guess the shruti if you familiarize yourself with the shruti of the starting line. Also we need to know if the song is a minor or a major. The chords that follow the first chord will depend on major vs minor. Using the capo I use the capo to play the chords in a certain pattern in the higher scale. For example when we play an open G unless I use a capo I cannot play the same finger style for G sharp. So when we add a capo I can use the finger pattern to hold the chord in a higher scale on the next fret. So if you are comfortable for example playing the open G instead of the closed or Power G chord, Use a capo and play G sharp with the same fingering style as the Open G pattern.
