This series should be watched by every Indian. One of the gem of ancient India. People like Amir Khusro had laid the foundation of current democratic and secular India that was shattered by the foriegn invaders. A light in the darkness!
He definitely did not lay the foundation of a secular, democratic India.. He was secular sure but the foundations were laid way earlier and that is why the persecuted Parsees and Jews came to seek refuge here.. People even went from India to protect the grandson of Muhammad...
@@ananyagoyal906 That's true India was always secular but my emphasis was on the foundation of democracy that was laid after India's democracy and peace was shattered by the foreign Invaders. It was all dark then, people like Khusro reignited that spark of harmony and peace.

totally echo the statement. DD was the time of pure talent but no cult formation. This rendition is way better than that of Maestro Nusrat. I have heard this endless times but still crave for more.

Abu'l Hasan Yaminuddin Khusro, better known as Amir Khusro (also Khusrau, Khusrow) Dehlavi, was the poet laureate of the Indian subcontinent and enjoys ever-lasting fame as one of the most versatile poets and prolific prose-writers of the 13th and 14th centuries. He is traditionally considered to be the founder of qawwali and lyrical poetry in Hindustani (Urdu), credited with enriching Hindustani classical music by introducing Persian and Arabic elements in it. The invention of the sitar and the musical styles known as khyal and tarana are also attributed to him. His poetical composition, the amalgamation of Persian and Hindi in particular, was aimed at cementing the bonds of culture and friendship between the Hindus and Muslims of India. He was an intellectual giant of many languages, with knowledge of Turkish, Arabic, Persian and the vernaculars of northern India - the Khariboli, (Urdu and Hindi both being developed forms of it), Braj Bhasha and Awadhi. It was during his stay in Awadh, Delhi and Punjab that he learned these northern languages. He also learned Sanskrit which he placed before all other languages, except Arabic, the language of his religion. Above all, he was a most dutiful and devoted mureed of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya, the spiritual monarch of his day in the subcontinent.
This poem is unique because though it transitions from Persian to Braj in every alternate line! and yet it feels like its one seamless flow of words.. couldnt have imagined a 13th century one could be so cool!

Nikhil Gupta only few chapters are NOW not accurate as Aryan theory has always had speculations about origin. But starting from Mauryan empire, it’s pretty much spot on. I just love how they covered South Indian kingdoms in details.
Bharat Ek Khoj a series that is incredible. It was telecast when TV penetration was not much. It should be telecast every ten years so that all generations benefit from the series.🙏🙏

Amir Khusro❤ This man was a maestro, a genius. His songs Chaap Tilak, Aaj Rang hai and many more still sound so fresh and melodious. A scent of spiritual love emanates from each of his songs.
Murlidhar ji is an outstanding lesser known singer, actor and voice artist! Have had the opportunity to hear him record some TV ads. Literally most Indian products advertising in Nepal would pic him as their voice artist!

_Khusro_ means 'well heard of' or famous. It's derived from Sanskrit word सुश्रवा = सु + श्रवा I've noticed other Persian words like this.. derived from Sanskrit.
