"When I was 15, I decided I wanted to be a zookeeper. I spent lots of time getting myself known to Melbourne Zoo and learning what I needed to do to get my foot in the door. I started volunteer work at Zoos Victoria and worked there for 13 years. I ended up second-in-charge of the primate department and a surrogate mother to four of the baby gorillas there.
At some point, someone mentioned my name at Box Hill Institute, and I was approached to help them with further iterations of the Zookeeping Certificate. After serving as a casual teacher, I was employed by Box Hill Institute as a trainer and course coordinator."
