I may have written before that Sukumas are peaceful and at ease with their lives because the terrain is open or without major all high hills or wild animals. Therefore people take lives easy for there is nothing to scare them. Look, how many people attended this wedding of young boy and girl. And nobody is worried about wild animals or people on their way home. These two kids wedding are still at their parents for are too young to leave home like 18 year old in America and other parts of the world. In fact these two look only 15 years old. This explains why Sukuma land has population explosion. Thank God, there is enough food for everybody in Sukuma land for people in this video look healthy and happy too

Actually, the villages Bhulemela is citing are the ones I used to live at when young. Buyoko, Mwamashimba, Milyungu where there was a girl called Pili-she must have great grandchildren now. I never went back to thank the villagers there. I wonder why they respected me that much. Thanks for reminding me the old good days.

Amazing! Did anyone notice one thing about these Sukuma musicians? if you invite them to a wedding, they will mention or cite you as host and all your relatives participating wedding funding. Great job. May be Prince Harry of England should invite one of these Sukuma stars. And they are good blending Sukuma with other languages.

Thanks for keeping Sukuma tradition by involving little girls in dancing. I saw that when young between 1952-1958 when I left home for boarding school and then college. This cut me off my Sukuma culture. But I vividly remember what was going on between those years. Great job!

@@geoffreysoloshija1909 Yes, I am in Madison Wisconsin. Madison is a small city of about 300,000 people. Madison also looks like Mwanza. Tanzania looks like Wisconsin. Look at your world map. That is why enjoy being here for it reminds me where I was born and raised. Jojiro.

Please notice this beautiful woman at 12:54 dipping her hand into the hot meat pot to see if meat is done. This is incredible. But also notice the two girls in yellow at 13.20 bouncing up and down on their knees several times; and they seem to enjoy it. With my knees at their age, I do not believe I could bounce that many times. Sukumas and Tanzania as a whole are having very healthy and strong babies and therefore people. I hope the present President will continue Magufuli's work - making sure people are well fed despite short-comings.

Wait a minute - I thought the little girls in yellow were bear-feet. They are not- They are wearing flip-flops. But I am amazed how they can jump and dance in flip-flops without tripping on them. I remember to have bought such flops, but could not run in those.

This video tells us and people in other countries why Sukumas take life easier than other people in the world. As pointed before, it might be because the land is flat, fertile for agriculture purposes, has only few hills here and there and the weather is not harsh comparing to other parts of Tanzania or neighboring countries and where I live now. When living at Jojiro I could see about 15 miles of grassland, could walk miles without seeing wild animals to threaten my life. Sukumas tend to be nice to each other. So, I took life easy myself. Watching Sukuma videos now, I see Sukumas have not changed their traditions despite changes in country's politics. Just look at 11:22 section one guy tries to impress the other by dancing. The other guy looks at other guy's ass and is not impressed. Those are Sukuma jokes or cut-down accepted in Sukuma area.

Here is another group where one gives the prime singer a cue as to the next line. I believe the other guy must be smart to remember the entire song. Anyway, that is what I used to hear in the 40s and 50s. I always wondered why there were two singers one giving a cue to owner of the group.

Another warning about Sukumas dancing. They always try to be funny and even cut down each on one another other before audience for fun. Notice one dancer goes out and tells the other how good he is dancing. So, he gives his cup to him to hold it to show off how good he is dancing. Okay - the other guy accepts the cup and lets him show off his dance - moving his butt. The other guy watches his butts; but trashes his dancing style and tells the other guy to take back his cup for he is not impressed. Usually such jokes or cut-downs are pre-arranged to entertain the audience.

Notice sometimes Sukuma dancers plan to tease one another for laughs. Like guy tried to impress the other-by shaking his butt. First, he gives him his drink to show him his dukes. But the other guy peeps his bootie; and does not get impressed. So, he gives back drink and says - I am not impressed and take your drink. That is typical Sukuma planned cut-down with dancers-just for laughs.

Would somebody tell me why people wear and carry extra pieces of cloth on their shoulders. It is always hot in my former village. In Buyogo sometime gets to 90 F. But I see people carrying extra cloth. Well, unless they plan to stay overnight at wedding place; but I doubt that. I know when growing up not many people had access to hotels or motels. That could have been justification. Not now though. Well, it could be also a show wealth. Somebody should tell us.
