Welcome back to our Bhutan adventure! This is Day 2 of our journey, starting with a morning in Thimphu. Join us as we explore some of the most iconic sites in the capital city, including the majestic Buddha Statue and the fascinating Simply Bhutan Museum.
Our Story:
We kick off Day 2 in Thimphu with a quick breakfast before heading to the grand Buddha Dordenma statue. This massive statue, standing 169 feet tall, offers a serene atmosphere and breathtaking views of the surrounding valley. It's a remarkable symbol of peace and blessings in Bhutan.
Next, we visit the Simply Bhutan Museum, where we are welcomed with a taste of arah wine. The museum tour includes a deep dive into Bhutan's monarchy history, the significance of the national flag, and a demonstration of traditional house construction. We also learn about the various masks used in festivals and explore traditional musical instruments. The experience is enriched with a serving of butter tea and snacks.
The museum visit culminates in a lively traditional dance performance and an archery session, where we celebrate with a victory dance after hitting the target. We also get a glimpse into the traditional Bhutanese kitchen setup. This concludes part 1 of Day 2-stay tuned for part 2!
