On today's episode of Bike Shops of Japan, we'll be touring around Y's Road and the Bianchi Store of Kyoto.
This was actually an unplanned bike shop tour. My wife and I just finished riding our road bikes from Nagoya to Kyoto and were walking around the night market nearby our hotel when we stumbled across Y's Road. We've already visited the Kobe branch and Nagoya branch, so we were pretty excited to check out the Kyoto branch and see what differences there are between the different stores.
The bike shop in Nagoya is separated into two parts, one for cycle wear, and the other for the bikes themselves. The Kyoto store is just one big building with everything inside.
Upon entering, they've got their pro jerseys prominently on display, along with some "Japan-style" jerseys, which are apparently pretty popular among foreign tourists. They had some pretty interesting cycling jersey's for Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Nagoya, etc..
Moving along, we saw lots of beautiful bikes, including e-bikes, folding bikes, Giant, Cannondale, Colnago, Felt, Fuji, De Rosa, Bianchi, and more.
Actually, it turns out that this shop has a dedicated "Bianchi Store" (ビアンキストア） attached to it with a ridiculous amount of Bianchi goods, including a bunch of different Bianchi road bikes, Bianchi cross bikes, mtn bikes, bianchi shoes, hats, gloves, accessories, etc... Really a Bianchi lover's paradise.

What a dreamy complete bike shop!! If I run into some money, I would completely customize a road top end bike from Bianchi, I would make the trip there and stay for a month or so, then bring all the goodies home here to Spain. Gosh, even the bianchi color chain, that is sick!!!! In Japan those shops are sooo organized, clean, and space saving, so complete!! I tell ya, I would have to shop for hours on end, and a total of 2-3 days until I saw every little detail! Wonderful to dream...

Your videos always make me want to get out and bike! Right now I've been using my gf's commuter bike to bust out serious miles, I'm getting ready to buy the canyon grail 8.0 cf sl, because a road bike vs some of my streets, just isn't practical. I can't wait to be able to go faster and maybe do all day rides like you and thuang chan!

It's cool to see you bike shop in Japan sidering there are thousands of miles from where we are at and they sell almost identical saying things in the bike shops just up the road here for me there's a giant shop and I know Giants in your favorite bike just wish I could afford some of those bikes beautiful bikes

damn, she looks maaaaaaad : S I know she just got her BMC mtb but a new road bike would be nice. I love seeing her get gifts, she is just so appreciative and genuinely happy. Even i as just a spectator feel happy to see her laugh and happy. I think i have watched BMC surprise 8 or so times.

I live in NYC and I've never seen such a well stocked and displayed bike store as this one. Nice job. Most of those frames are made in Taiwan no matter what name is on the tubes. I tend to buy bikes from boutique American builders though I have two frames from Taiwan. No surprise that a Japanese bike shop would rarely stock SRAM since that's the home of Shimano. Great videos!

I'm out on Long Island and the NYC bike shops won't even stock enough repair bits. I'm basically regulated to online bike part shopping to stock up on bits. But in Japan even the smaller bike sections in dept stores and small bike stores are well stock with parts you can grab for a quick repair.

If you build your own bike you can get everything brand new di2 ultegra for about $2k. Just got a brand new tarmac sl5, threaded BB for $800, an ultegra 8050 di2 set for $1040 with 105 cranks and brakes, Campy Zonda wheels for $320 wholla about to build my di2 tarmac for a little over $2k in a few days! Merlin by far sells the cheapest di2 stuff, also over half of the mechanical stuff are also the cheapest on Merlin. Highly recommend their site!

This is the Akiba of cycling. Also noticed Arakita (the small character on the Bianchi bike. It’s a character from Yowamushi pedal. I love that cycling anime. Anyway the store is amazing.

Two Wheel Cruise that’s amazing. Then I guess you know who my profile picture is. I find the anime really motivating and it drives me to train really hard for upcoming races. So do school races happen in Japan or is this just a made up part of of Yowamushi pedal (like a school inter high) ?Also I know this sounds stupid but I would love to see a video of you talking about the anime. 😂 Seriously I love your videos and you also motivate me. Collegiate cycling is pretty big, and I know some high school teams. Not sure how realistic Yowamushi Pedal is though lol. I've been wanting to make some videos about the anime, but need to catch up on a lot of other videos first. That's great that it's motivational enough to influence others

and longitivity. most of the carbon bikes won't last more than a few years but colnago's top end lugged carbon bikes will last indefinitely because pre-made tubes and lugs have much higher quality control standard than monocoque carbon frames...

You should totally buy that bike or a new one for Thuong. What about raising money on this channel for that? Thanks for the kind offer, we really appreciate it! Even though we are using Patreon, I don't want to become too reliant on others for the equipment we buy. For now her current road bike is more than sufficient for the kind of riding she does and we will likely buy her a mountain bike before getting her a new road bike :)
