Sharing my own interpretation of the whole EP here. I maybe wrong but that’s just how I glued the pieces. This EP is a masterpiece. 👌🏽 To start.... the way I see it, she wasn’t really talking about a particular person here but rather it’s about life in general. She personified “life”, talking about it as if it’s a real person. In Umm... Life, Bibi starts the story with finding herself in such a crappy state. That’s why it’s the first track. It sets the premise and she was basically saying she’s having tough time with “life”. (Edit: in the song, she shares that she often gets asked by people why she looks like that or what happened to her but no one seem to actually care what she’s got to say. So every time they ask her what happened, she just responds with “umm... life”. Life happened.) In Bad Sad and Mad, she goes into details on why she’s in such a bad state. She used BDSM as a metaphor. There’s no guy (or girl 😉) here. And let’s make it clear, BDSM is NOT abuse but a CONSENSUAL power play. Here, “life” is the dominant party taking over her, hurts her - the way she described in the song and Bibi as the submissive one, letting “life” beat her up and even taking pleasures out of it - feeling like she deserved it - that’s why she lets herself suffer with it. Piri the Dog is her comparing herself to a stray or lost dog - feeling overwhelmed, lost and scared of “life”, looking for comfort and a home. It’s a song full of despair - like a call for help, masked in a light, quirky song. ☹️ Birthday Cake is when she realized she has been selling herself short all along - that she has a gift/talent she can enjoy and she can do or achieve many things with it but she kept it to herself because “nobody told her”. She keeps repeating the line “I allow myself to lose it” but notice how she changed it to “COULDN’T allow myself to lose it” in the last line. In short, OUR GIRL FINALLY REALIZED HER WORTH. (Note: you maybe wondering why it’s called Birthday Cake... bday cakes are gifts 👉🏼 talents are also gifts. I think?Smart!) Lastly, Life’s a Bitch is a conclusion to this story. She’s saying that yes, life’s a bitch but she won’t let it take over and run over her again. This time, she’s taking control of her life and live it the way she wants to. PS: Bibi, if you’re reading this, please blink twice if I got it right (or partly right. I’ll take it. 😂)
