Today we are continuing on with our #BibleStudyWithMe series through the book of #James with chapter 3! ✨This chapter holds a special place in my heart because it contains one of the first passages I ever memorized, and it was also one my dad would direct me to growing up if I ever needed a reminder about "taming the tongue." 😬
In this #BibleVideo we are digging into the distinction this chapter draws between the dangers of the tongue, and wisdom from above. These two things produce very different outcomes, and we'll be talking about what those are.
I'm also talking about how God uses Scripture to sanctify us by sharing an example of how the Holy Spirit brought to remembrance a verse we studied back in James chapter 1 in a moment when I was temped to sin.

a verse that really stood out to me and convicted me was James 3:9 “With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness.” it just really opens your eyes to see that when you think you are not offending God when cursing someone you are actually because they were created in His likeness.

I think sometimes we forget that we are ALL sinners. It's so easy to criticize others for what they are doing that we may not approve of but we fail to see how many times we mess up and God shows us mercy. Ironically, we are messing up as we are pointing out how other are messing up. Unfortunately, this happens everywhere, but when it happens within the church, it causes division. We forget that when we put down one of God's creation, we are actually putting down, and displeasing God himself. Once thing that spoke to my heart was the connection between trusting God and the way we respond to others and what we say about others. When we trust God, we won't lose our peace by the things that are happening around us. Things that others do won't cause such a stir in our hearts because we trust that God is taking care of the situation. We trust that everything that God allows us to experience is for our good, even if it doesn't feel good at the moment. He uses every situation, every experience, every interaction as an opportunity to build our faith and show our love-it's our choice then how we will respond. Will we show God's love through our words and actions or will we give in to the temptation of bickering, complaining and speaking about one another? We can't say we love God who we can't see when we can't even show love to our neighbor who we can see. Let's learn to love others like God loves us. Trust God to handle the situations that arise. :)

Verse 15, i will use this to help guide me in decision making. I'm finding I am really struggling in a few areas of my life, where i feel compelled to speak up in my neighborhood/community during these emotional and trying times. Reading / hearing this convicted me to the core. Ensuring anything I speak or share I need to run through this test first. And be prayerful as i consider. Thank you 💖

What stood out to me was verse 2: We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check. This verse stood out to me because I know I stumble sometime. I know that when I repent God forgive me. He knows I am not perfect and that I make mistakes.

Hey! Another Lovely Video on James:) I agree, this chapter was short but packed! The verse that touched me the most was verse 9- it was a gentle reminder for me. This is something that the Majority of us do Ignorantly and Unconsciously, ALL the time- and it just drives home the point that we should be CONSCIOUS of what we say and of course, this will be determined by the thoughts we have in our head and if we check them before they are spoken. I Am Really Enjoying The Book Of James- It Is Convicting and Full of Wise Teachings At The Same Time :)

@ Hammy...You maybe right. I question things too, which is healthy I think. I am not Jewish to follow their teaching. However, some parts of the Bible are very helpful. It can save you from prison, homelessness and other tragedies.

The verse that ministered to me is James 3:17. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure. It provides the characteristics of God's wisdom that are helpful and applicable to our everyday lives.

Awesome. But why the pyramid show of the hands at the end? The true God does not heavily promote pyramids, that comes from pagan Egyptian practices no? And our God is a jealous God and we should have no others before him.. Just saying. Dont ruin a perfectly good fine presentation with pyramid stuff.
