Bibleway Temple Radio Choir / Even Me 

Always the highlight of the year was when I could take my family from Richmond, Va. on a pilgrimage up to The Great Bible Way Temple of Washington D.C. The Radio Temple Choir would pack the huge choir stands. They stood shoulder to shoulder, row after row in the choir loft.The congregation would fill every seat in the enormous auditorium and crowd the aisles when the altar call was made . To be able to behold this great Holy Temple that took up a whole block was so amazing to me .We would move briskly from the parking area once arriving into this great monument of God’s goodness to find a seat before it filled up. Once at my appointed seat I would usually stand quite a while, in thanksgiving to God that he had once again allowed me to reach this Holy Temple. When seated I cried most of the service listening to the powerful speakers and being there in person was such a great blessing it overwhelmed me. Always the highlight of the service was being able to see as well as hear The Presiding Bishopand Chief Apostle Smallwood E Williams .Apostle Willams was a battled scared soldier who had been in the heat of the many fierce battles. He was the perfect man for the Washington post . He had connections all over the political spectrum that usually reached right into the very White House. We would listen to the Sunday morning broadcast that emanated from this great edifice from 8 to 9am as one of the greatest choirs in the world would sing several “A” selections . Elder George T. Holton , the narrator and announcer would give the announcements and then they sung this prayer theme. “Even Me”. I loved this great church and it’s saints of the living God even though I was only a listener of its broadcast . This is vintage Bible Way...down home..You had to be there to understand and feel what I felt while in service with these seasoned saints to truly appreciate this great church and it’s many outstanding choirs and ensembles.
