Yeah… but i had a run in with a ‘biblical unitarian’ which is abject heresy, people will blasphemously slap the ‘biblical’ label on just about any pet doctrine all the way up to damnable heresy so just watch out for that (i am in no way arguing for cessationism in saying this). Yah bless!
This is not a doctrine but a personal view of my own, I see a theme in scripture: the latter shall be greater than the former, I believe as time winds up and the return of our LORD gets closer,as the world sinks deeper into gross darkness the CHURCH will become brighter and brighter our understanding of the GOSPEL will be sharpened and spiritual gifts will be manifested as never before. Remember THE BRIDEGROOM is returning for a BRIDE without spot wrinkle or blemish. A mature CHURCH is on the horizon. I look at our doctrinal disagreements (most of them) as growing pains. As the CHURCH matures and our understanding of the gospel of grace is sharpened our preaching of the word will be accompanied by signs and wonders confirming HIS word. This is a biblical theme in Mark 16:20 and a distinguishing trademark of authentic Christianity.see Mark 16:17-18 Apostle Paul teaches in Ephesians, Corinthians and Romans that spiritual gifts play a role in the maturing of the CHURCH. He says there will be a time when we (the bride) will reach the fullness of the stature of CHRIST (grow up) Once more this is not a doctrine I'm trying to teach it's just what I see in the scriptures.I by no means am one of those who would go around chasing after miracles and the such, I'm fully aware the enemy can mimic them, but I won't throw the baby out with the bathwater either. Thank you so much for this, I feel like you've helped me put words to something I've been struggling to explain for a long time. Scripture says that the Spirit distributes the gifts *as He wills.* What if He simply doesnt wish to distribute them as much now? I dont have to claim that they've "ceased" for whatever reason, I only need to recognize that God always has a reason for giving out His gifts, and trust in His character and sovereignty when he chooses not to do so. I also don't need to believe that every believer needs to walk in constant use of these gifts (while simultaneously ignoring all the fakery and cognitive dissonance when it doesn't play out in reality) as if we were meant to claim these "gifts" for ourselves (which would mean they were never really "gifts" to begin with, right?). Thank you!
My advice would be for you to seek the Lord while he may be found and to ask Him to fill you with His Spirit so thw you will not become a stumbling block to others and their Salvation. We are to work out our own Salvation with Fear and Trembling.
That is one subject matter that seems it will continue to be argued until The Lord Christ Messiah Yeshua/Jesus RE-appears. Quite frankly, my thought is that the Church/the Body of The Christ should be done with all these labels, terms, and adjectives outside of what IS clearly defined in the Scriptures📖. I believe that our FAITH is being perfected as we are being sanctified according to The Holy Spirit "working" the Will of Abba Almighty Holy Living True GOD in us and NOT by Spiritual Gifts. It is about FAITH! The Gifts don't "sanctify" us... the Word of TRUTH and the Holy Spirit (the Spirit OF TRUTH) does. The Holy Spirit is continuing what Messiah Yeshua/Jesus Christ already began, and HE will complete. Folks want and exalt spiritual gifts to EXALT and PROMOTE themselves, to make themself appear more spiritual or to chase after demons, but DO NOT WANT to conform to the Image of The Christ in FAITHFULNESS or OBEDIENCE. I agree with you Cory. I am a biblical continuationist like you. Have witnessed real miracles of healing, and other spiritual gifts including biblical tongues though only on two occasions in my life of 73 years. To be honest most of the "tongues" I have encountered were babble, and repetitive nonsense, with no interpretation. Being prayed over in tongues, even if they were real does not edify the person being prayed over at all, unless they spoke that language. Singing in tongues does not edify the listener because they don't know what you are saying, and neither do you. Both praying and singing in tongues are not scriptural. The Word only mentions "speaking" in tongues and should be done only in biblical context. Rather speak 5 words in my own tongue than 10,000 in one I don't know. 1 Cor 14:19
A biblical continuationist is a man made doctrine. Can we stop going down these rabbit holes that are not written in the Bible . They do not serve the Christian. Remember God is not the author of confusion. As Paul noted, use language that is easy to understand
@@kallen7712 I am just saying that I am not a secessionist, who believes that the gifts have ceased, but yet am not a full blown NAR continuationist either. I am a continuationist whose beliefs in the gifts are strictly biblical and NOT based on man-made doctrine, which is the opposite of what your implying. Suggest you check out "Smart Christian Channel" to understand what I mean. The host of that channel (Corey) refers to himself as a "biblical continuationist", which is where I picked up the term. Regardless ... I love Jesus and His word and am a new creation in Christ.😇

That is why I question everything like a good Berean, and study and research until I have the answer I am confident in and give God the glory for it. The Holy Spirit has not departed from this world, and God never changes, so I have witnessed His spiritual gifts in action. Denying something doesn't make it less true, except for you who refuses to accept it.😉
Read 2 thessalonians 2 :15-16 . The apostles never taught that these spiritual gifts would continue until Christ return . God does not have respect of persons. 8 times in the bible this concept is proclaimed. Not even Corey understands this concept. Why is everyone told to study the Bible ? Answer 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Everyone one has access to the same information, instructions , the same word of God. When the end comes, we all will take the same test. Let us not deny the word of God. Believe me, you're a little closer than Corey in your beliefs. Remember every word spoken must be proven ......according to the Bible. This book contains all the information we need! I believe in miracles. I believe in spiritual gifts. I just don't believe in tongues when everyone speaks the same language. Or the mega church healings or casting out demons. I could see someone being understood in a remote village, or praying and God healing someone, and I believe we can pray and fast and God will remove the enemy spirits. I definitely don't think man can do anything it's all God. God's will, God's plan, God's glory. Man can do nothing of the sort. At least that's my thinking, I cannot deny miracles because my salvation was a miracle.
Do you know that there is only one holy spirit??? See Ephesians 4:4. Now if there is only Spirit, and everyone claims to have that spirit, then why can't they understand or interpret one another??? There's only one spirit!!!! The reason that they cant understand or interpret one another is because those spiritual gifts do not exist!!! Even the healing by the spirit healed all who wanted healing. These facts are biblical truth
Sorry, Corey, you’re missing some fine distinctions in grammar and context and erring on the Pentecostal side. However, although I disagree with the basis underlying your conclusions, I agree with the application of your conclusions.
I would classify my belief as "exceptionalist". The sign gifts always were and always will be used by God when needed to advance and validate His kingdom. Likewise they have never and will never be normative, nor expressed by the will of an individual.
I personally believe, that the gift of "tongues" is meant to be a sign for the Jews. 1Cor. 1:22, 14:22... If you read all the occurrences in the book of Acts, there were Jews witnessing the gift of "tongues" happening... Please help me, if I misunderstood the verses...
One example of a spiritual gift being used today in churches, I go to Africa and speak English I have a African interpreter . Wouldn't that be an example of speaking in tongues, how about a minister standing up in church and you have a deaf person to interpret to the death crowd would that be another example?
I mostly agree w/ Corey here and the position of a cessationist is funny to me because they must believe that I Cor 14:1 tells us to desire something that no longer exists 😅! As for Corey on tongues, verses 2-4 CLEARLY imply that tongues can be a language NO MAN understands AND be something that edifies the speaker of them. @hayeschrist1, what do you say when you speak in tongues??? In Acts, people heard the Gospel in their native tongues.. That’s what speaking in tongues is. Why keep your “gift” from people? 1 Corinthians 14 says that God gives gifts to those whom he wills. We don’t pray for gifts or even pursue them, we pursue Love!! If you do indeed speak in tongues, it should be how the Bible intends it to be. Not gibberish or babbling… God bless.
Notice tongues is the only one that actually says cease... Scripture is written in all languages, there is no amount of babbling that will make it true... Where there is Prophecy is will be done away with.... Another words we tell of Jesus and what's coming in accordance with the completed Word of God... One day He will complete what He started and there will be no need to "Prophesy" of it, it will be fulfilled...
Thank for this video. Essentially this is the core of cessationism using the Bible as a defence. Even your understanding of tongues and prophecy. If you follow closely cessationist in Reformed circles you would here almost identical explanations of this video. So i would caution on using the term ‘Biblical continuationist’ because continuationist implies one asserts that the sign/miracle gifts MUST operate alongside Scripture to effectually gather and preserve sinners into the kingdom and to be triumphantly enabled witnesses, as if Scripture alone is insufficient, which seems to me you would reject. So putting the two terms side-by-side, proposing to reject cessationism and continuanism may be oxymoronic and contradictory. Alternate terms would be pragmatic cessationism or progressive continuationist. Just my humble caution and suggestions, my fellow ex-charismatic brother. 😊

Stay true to the Word of the Lord and love them with Christ's love model for the Church (Ephesians). It also helps, if you have children, to study the Bible together, book by book. The Lord will do the rest

Its obvious that you haven't received the gift of the Set Apart Spirit by what you speak. Isiah 28 v11 tells you what is happening today. You will only see tongues in known languages if the setting calls for it. Why would you speak Russian if there is no one to understand and hear you glorify God in their language?
I disagree, i think the perfect is scripture. What else can it be? Jesus already came so it's not Jesus. The scriptures was still being written. Now we have all scripture.

I think more appropriate way of saying is: Be Biblical “period” Cut ties with any man made terminology: cessationism, continuationism, calvinism, armeniasm….
