Bicolline is a Battle Game boffer LARP set in medieval times taking place in Quebec, Canada. I had an amazing week at this event in August and was lucky enough to get some footage. The event was filled with exciting adventures, elaborate battles, performances, and quite a bit of tavern partying. Most of the videos on youtube at the moment are filmed with or in The Voyage North and I want to clarify that I did not travel with TVN and am not associated in any way other than friendship of some guild members. I went independent which meant I dealt with Bico directly for accommodations, meal plans, and was not with a guild. I highly recommend this course if you're looking to save some money or want the ability to be courted by different guilds before settling on one. For me it was the perfect choice as a first timer.
I made many incredible memories and life long friends. I would love to return one day and share even more of the experience now that I know what to expect.
HOWEVER, Bicolline has exhibited problematic behaviors towards POC and support the use of raceface, using black or darker skin tone face paint for the depiction of fantasy creatures, and I do not agree or condone this. I had already invested in this trip before this information came out and am working with others to make a more inclusive experience, even if it means leaving Bicolline for better pastures until they change their policies.
