Dad did teach me how to do this about 38 years ago but I confess I had forgotten. Thank you for making this video, I will go change my tyre now and get my own son to come along...
Excellent.Just about to repair my first puncture in 20 plus years as got a bike to commute now.All those little tips stops a lot of time wasting. And nice to know is orange side down for the patch. My kit had rubbish diagram with no written advice.Youre a pro mate.Thanks. Great bloke, great video, great advice.I went to Melbourne to get advice to fix my tire in the UK.It was worth it ha ha.Cheers matey :)
thank u so much for showing an nice easy way to fix a puncture ... I'm new to the world of cycling and I'm loving it ... now I can cycle with even more confidence ... thanks again for this video ... most appreciated 😊
Informative video, you forgot to mention checking the inside of the tire for the object that punctured the tire. Some times in my case it is a thorn from the Hawthorne trees around here. Thanks again for the video.
PS Slowly use fingers to check for object that may have caused puncture.I used a rag to wipe but didnt feel a small sharp stone still embedded in the tire. You guessed it,half way to work and flat again.Walk to work, walk back.1.5 hours wasted because of one minute of proper checking.Silly me.Good luck fellow cyclists.Be safe ;)
Cheers for this, I have been researching "bicycle repair how to" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Viyackson Yenacob Review - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my colleague got excellent results with it.
I saw some videos the sequence is put the tube to rim first , then the external tyre ,there after pump. Your method is simple fast and easy. Well done. Good job.
Thanks for the video. I just repaired my first puncture today. I am buying one of those tire levers, as I had a lot of problems getting the tire into the rim.
Why didn't you run your hand inside of the tyre to see if there was any thorns or glass still stuck in the tyre, failing to do that will result in another puncture, also you did not put chalk on after you fitted the patch, next time you have a puncture, the inner tube will be stuck to the inside of tyre
Overall excellent description, but shouldn't you look for the puncture in the tire itself and mark it before removing from the rim if hard to find perhaps dip a tire into a water and if necessary fill it with some hardening glue or patch it from inside. This way both tire and tube are back to almost new and safe condition.
All ways check the inside of your tire before you put in a new tube or patch.. ugh I went through that b.s last night.. and had to patch my just bought tube because of a peice of sharp metal the size of a hair inside my bike tire.. bleh..
Key step left out: Always check inside the tyre - run your fingers around to feel for an obstruction - the shard/wire/bail/tack/cat head that caused the problem will often still be lodged there - meaning every repair is a likely re-repair.
scrape the tire (inside) with a washer or something metal... before putting the tube back in... sometimes the cause of the flat is still in the tire (on the inside of the tire, thorns) feel the inside with your fingers to make sure you got rid of them then put the repaired tube back in...
Rather funny for me, being Dutch to see this explained. Here it's something you often learn at home, part of growing up. The tools to repair are also less sophisticated as the one in the video. Not checking for that what causes the flat tire. I learned that the hard way. Won't forget to check that since
this just does not happen in practice. I always need two tyre clippers and some considerable effort to unmount the tyre from its rim. Same for fitting it back. No way the first side of the tyre just pops in its place in 2.5 seconds like here. It always requires a clipper for the last part. As for the other sideof the tyre - even harder to set in place. Sometimes I am thinking my tyre size does not fit the rim size, but the I did respect the original height for them...
My tyre has gone flat, there were two thorns sticking into the tire but once I put the inner tube under water there were no air bubbles coming out. Any help.
2:35 Not so fast. It is very important to inspect the inside and the outside of tire for what caused the puncture in the first place (metal wire, glass shards,...) before putting back the tube. Blowing air inside might help to get shards out. Otherwise, you have a puncture again instantly.
***** Really i used spoons before but it didnt seem practical the inside tube was fine but maybe I was lucky. I got metal Tyre levers. there pretty good
This wheel seems to be missing its bike. Why did he take the whole wheel off just to fix a puncture? I stopped doing it that way when I was 14. Also, he did not check the tyre for whatever may have caused the puncture still being in there.
You really cant do it without taking the wheel off. You are going to need to take the tyre off to get to the tube and you simply can't do that while it's still on the bike.
Go buy High Temperature Silicon or Gorilla 100% Silicone Sealant from auto parts store/Walmart/Kmart/Lowes. Permatex 81160 High-Temp Red RTV Silicone Gasket is also good. Any silicon caulkingfor bathroom should work.
New product on market called, "Liquid Tape." Make sure there's no air in tube -- let liquid tape dry over night after using generous amount to cover the hole.
Your adhesive went tacky really quickly... any time I’ve done that, it’s just blown the patch straight off... need to spread the glue really thin and wait a good 2 mins till it’s practically dry.
what do you do if you cant see the puncture but the tire is coming off, oi have a 2.2 bike aero pump which is probably the best ones ever, but..... the tire is the main problem
Sadaf Noreen English in not my nativa language, and i couldn't fully understand what you mean, but it seems to me that you have a problem with finding the puncture(too small maybe). If that's the case, just dip the tube bit by bit under water(with some pressure) and bubbles will come out where the leak is.
Sadaf Noreen Have a pail of water with a little soap ready. Place the inner tube in the soapy water, then you will start seeing the bubbles coming out of the puncture.
try *Enlarbo Bike Fixer Wizard* (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my neighbor got excellent results with it.
