I will be honest, I was wary* about Biden dropping out of the race, that said the immense support Kamala has gotten has just made me way more optimistic about the future, and here is to hoping that things go well.

Trust me, they're laughing on the right. It's absurd to suggest that Kamala is going to magically poll significantly better than the incompetent president she worked under. Do you think it’s better for harris if she gets to debate Trump or if Trump refuses like he did for the primary? Name me a single good Kamala Harris debate performance. The last debate I remember from her, she said she wouldn't take the same exact vaccine she wound up taking unless Trump wasn't President... That's her most memorable debate moment to date. She will do better than Biden but there's so much material on Kamala, in part, because she's part of the mess of the last 4 years. You swapped an unpopular incumbent with an unpopular vice president and you're excited about it. LOL
It's definitely better if they debate. I think Kamala would be smart enough to turn his record and rhetoric against him, and working class people deserve to hear someone talking about actual solutions vs just selling them on the problems and the enemies causing them. I don't know if she'd bring anyone over, but I'd really love to see her try.

Biden side stepped any primary debates-which would have brought some of his deficits to light earlier-and now we need to accept his VP selection as the presidential candidate without any discussion. What’s to stop democratic leaders from drumming up bullshit to push donor preferred candidates in the future? People should be more concerned about ensuring there is a fair process in place. I’m okay if it’s Kamala in the end, but the concept of anointing a candidate feels undemocratic.

My whole Arab community friends and family are still uncommitted, she hasn’t given us any assurances that the bombs will stop. Our conscience will not allow us to vote for her otherwise.

I think that's a valid position. However, in a binary race, every action, voting or not voting, either helps or hurts the ultimate winner. And if Trump wins, the question is would it be better or worse for Gaza, and would not voting for Kamala Harris have helped or hurt that outcome.

There was never any real doubt that Biden wouldn't wind up being the nominee, it just wasn't obvious that the DNC would be so undemocratic as to just try to throw Kamala in even though it seemed the most likely once black voters started saying it would be racist if anyone but her got picked. Nobody could possibly predict the insanity of the DNC at this stage. We have to accept the probability that Biden may have already planned on dropping out a while back and waited this long to deliberately draw out republican hopes just to drop out right after the RNC, when it would frustrate them the most, I’d say perfect timing, Mr President, that was a noble power move, he stepped aside for someone else, something Trump would never do.
There seem to be a lot of commentators talking about how delusional people are to support Harris but rarely do they suggest an alternative that would be better. If most of the potential candidates are coalescing behind Harris for whatever reason then that’s fine, right? I assume some people are genuine and some are disingenuous but just calling people delusional without offering an alternative who is ACTUALLY running does nothing to add to the conversation.
I've checked out of political podcasts for a while (including this show...) due to the depressing state of politics. But this...! This whole recent chain of events, I did _not_ expect. Kamala Harris brings a different energy and resonates with the public in a way that is relevant to the current age. Biden, sadly, could not. But what I'm most impressed by is the rapid public unity behind her. Incredible. What I find hilarious is that there is no answer to her. Nothing is sticking. An an open convention would draw a lot of viewers and ratings that would shame Trump. By allowing other members of the party to participate in the choice it would help bring the party behind a platform. It would demonstrate how a party operates compared to a cult of personality. It would also create excitement and confuse the Republicans on who they are running against.

I would love it if Harris' VP pick is Stacy Abrams. I know it's not likely to happen, because two women of colour on the ticket might explode all the brains, but she's such a good community organizer, she did so much to get out the vote in 2020 and 2022 - it would be a sign to the grass roots people that they are part of the Democratic Party.

Bernie wouldn’t have added anything to the ticket, just the same as Tim Kaine. She needed a bolder, yet still a man. Tom Perez, Julian Castro, Corey Booker or John Hinkenlooper would have all helped her ticket more.

If she could have set aside her personal animosity toward him & put him on the ticket it would have symbolized a burying of the hatchet between the progressive wing of the Democratic Party & the corporate, neoliberal establishment. She could have planted Bernie in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, where his FDR-New Deal policies would have been very popular. She would have won those 3 states, ended up with at least 273 electoral votes & would have won the election. The candidates you mentioned, while very good people, were all pretty much non-entities.
