I live in Mexico, actually thousands of immigrants are starting their lives over again in Mexico. I see Haitians working in all sectors of the local economy and their children are going to public schools. Many Haitian families are having children in Mexico and their children are Mexican citizens. We only hear about the thousands of immigrants trying to get into the US. The US media never covers the thousands of immigrants settling in Mexico. I can not understand why so many immigrants insist on going to the US when the US doesn't event want them. If I was in their situation I would build my life over again in Mexico.

If you're going to start chirping at least use the terms correctly. Migrants come here temporarily for work, on work visas. Employers aren't under any law or obligation to ensure those workers don't become undocumented by their visa expiring. This creates an incentive for the employer to let them become undocumented and exploit that by threatening deportation if they complain about wage or conditions. Immigrants are people who come here for perm residence and not all immigrants are asylum seekers. A lot of immigrants get into the country much easier and get their pathway to citizenship much easier if they're A) rich, specifically with a 500k+ USD business with the US, B) Have family who already live in the US, or C) Get through by marrying a US citizen. For regular people it can take 10+ years to even get your greencard and start that process to become a citizen. Also your anecdotes about immigrants are racist. "Drugs and gangs" has nothing to do with their ethnicity or the fact they're an immigrant. Those gangs, and drug usage stem from poverty if you actually wanted to fix it you address the compounding factors leading to their conditions, housing, wages, healthcare, public transportation.
