Meaning, even without Biden's saying & promise to defend the Philippines, there's already been a blood pact of support eitherways. I'm still glad though, on how President Marcos handle the situation as he is very much patient not to invoke this MDT despite China's aggressive actions in the West Philippine Sea. Who wants war? We don't.. we want PEACE.. Filipinos are happy & cheerful beings in the planet.. Who is staging war now? Anyways, behind the scene, China's actions already affected the lives of most Filipino fishermen who were deprived by their livelihood.. I'm sad about their families who are dependents of their livelihood. , Not only that China is killing the Filipino fishermen (& their families) but also destroyed the marine life & biodiversity of WPS completely.. True, to a degree i see your point as politically US bickers and bashes itself at times, but here are the main factors Philippines differs from Ukraine. America never really had interest in Ukraine, except that Ukraine wants to be part of Nato (eventually) considering they make it through the war with Russia, and America despite it's stall of support as of recent has already provided a ton of support to Ukraine. Were as in Philippines US has strong interest in because its strategically placed in south east asia, and best backer of all US has multiple bases there. Can't look for a better reason for America not to back them up.
Ukraine isn't that valuable for the US. Philippines is because it seat right in a trade route. Also helping the Philippines will help its other allies like Japan, Taiwan and South Korea since they all need oil from the middle east.

As a filipino myself, I see economic interest is at play here in my opinion. US and Philippines has deep economic ties where in we handle the support positions dealing with business to consumer transactions. China has fulfilled its building projects where the filipinos have sown the seeds of our commitment. Meanwhile, there are a lot of business processing outsourcing that may be jeopardized if we do not align with US.
