Exactly! Is saving an ounce or two really worth promoting and advertising a product that will ultimately fail in its structural integrity? Is BA truly overlooking this or do they just not care? I still really love this tent and BA products but it's crucial for people to have all the information they can when using products like these which is why I made this video. Thanks for watching.

I rate BA. I'm very interested in the Expedition version, which they seem to have discontinued. Impossible to source in the UK at any rate..

I hear your concern, and it's a valid one. In order to make the product weigh less, the material needs to be thinner. In truth, I think you'll be surprised at how durable it actually is. The key to preserving the floor is making sure you clear your ground space really well. Remove any sticks or sharp rocks that you can. Pick a site that has soft ground when at all possible. I've gone without using a floor protector many times and just used the optional footprint. I would recommend that, at a minimum, to help with your concerns. Happy camping !

@sharamkh oh yeah! Still use it. It's my go-to tent for camping with the wife or one of the kids. It's just the reality of today's lightweight products. It's not even that thin compared to a lot of other lightweight gear.

I've used the floor protector for many other things too. I take it winter camping and ice brought out our onto the frozen lake at night, played it down so my wife and I can lay out and watch the northern lights at night. It's very versatile.

I looked at all their titorial videos and even called them. That was how they showed and stated was the recommended way to stake the tent.

I like to stuff the tent into it's own bag, or sometimes I stuff it inside the pack without a bag to fill in the empty spaces. I always pack the poles separately.

Actually, I just emailed BA last week and they replied this: "We typically recommend trying to put the head or foot of the tent towards the wind if you can."

I think you need to consider what type of terrain you'll be setting your tent up in. If it's mostly soft forested ground then you can easily clear debris and not worry about puncturing the bottom, then no footprint is necessary. Always try and choose good ground for your site. I'm getting away from using footprints to help save weight and space. One other thing to consider is whether you would choose to use the fast-fly setup. If so, a footprint is required. If you decide against a footprint then you can always keep a little Sil-nylon repair tape in your kit Hope that helps.

I've never tested any Nemo products. I hear good things though. I would like to try their air mattress and tent eventually. And yes! Check out my other video of the Tiger Wall 1P. I really like it but there are also some downsides to it which I cover in the video.

I totally recommend the tent floor protector. I have also used it for any other purposes than what it's intended for also. :blanket for picnic or at the beach :lay down on frozen lake in winter and watch the stars without getting wet : use as a blanket over your sleeping bag to add an extra layer of insulation

Hello J. T No this is definitely not a 4 season tent. I have had this tent in decent rain and it holds up just fine. No leaking or issues at all.
