It doesn’t get any better than this. My dad was a Jazz Musician, he played the upright Bass. I know he would have loved this. Hopefully he’s tuning in from Heaven ♥️
im a jazz bassist too but sadly in this live show he was not playing the bass but just air plucking to a recording of a bass guitar, I looked at his fingers and the notes I hear and he isnt plucking anything correctly which pains me to see the bassist wasn't even playing the instrument during this whole live show.
She had a dream about the King from Sweden ... He gave her things she was needin'. I miss lyrics like this in songs. You get them every now and then in Rap Music, but not enough.
Believe it or not I have never heard of this band till yesterday. Some friends of mine talked me into going to the opening day at the New York State Fair to see them yesterday. They sound like they are straight from the big band/ prohibition era.. I've always kinda gotten into music from by gone eras. These guys in my opinion got to be one of the best. And I have quickly become a big fan.
Awesome redo. Been to one of his his concerts in a rare Texas visit here in Houston. Have several of his CD's Tough to get good music like this in Texas. C&W which I do not like dominates the scene here.
You see, the problem with Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is they are really really good. Now I counted 3 mistakes in that song. 3. I don't know if you've ever been in a band that tries to play that song, but it's not the easiest song to play. The original is iconic and this is the culmination of playing this song live, very very well for a long long time. You see, it's too perfect. And this is a live recording, no less. Can you imagine that? A live recording that is too perfect. Cab did it and it's a standard. To play that and take it to this. To go see BBVD I would have to spend a fortune on aitre just to listen to this with enough enthusiasm.
I can't believe ONLY 81,104 people (or whatever they were) have SEEN this. That is SO not right. The vampires and night-folk I blog for turned me on to Le Noir Swing and it is THE BEST!
I finally discovered the meaning of "kick the gong around". Of course it means to use opium. (Read It in a biography of Polly Adler, the New York madam.)
Cab Calloway did several Minnie the Moocher songs with these being the one you usually hear. All started out about the same way. One of them is titled "Mr. Paganini, Swing for Minnie." However, name he actually sings is "Toscanini" who was pretty much a god in the music world at the time. Probably didn't dare to use his name in print. Also, he pronounces Toscanini to rhyme with Minnie and skinny. It's a pretty clever song, actually. You can hear it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l_imv7ef-Es.html
From looking at your profile, your resentment of jazz and jazz-like music is really quite something to behold. Tell me, is this a deep-seeded hate stemmed from your childhood memories of your dad's jazz records playing while he pounded into a gleeful woman that wasn't mommy?
